Algern's Carapace

Here (info submission thanks to Dev)

This is the thread in which to discuss comparisons between the new items and others. Unlike guide-like threads created via Comparison Posting you are not required to lay out comparisons in a formal manner in here. But remember - because you'll have read the forum rules of course - do not ask questions here like "what's best for me" / "which is the better weapon" - this is not a Question & Answer forum. Nor is it a general game discussion forum. Only post if you have something useful and relevant to add / discuss.

Threads created via the Comparison Posting forum (which then get moved to this Equipment Comparison forum once approved) normally remain on a permanent basis, whereas this =AQ= one is likely to be allowed to expire.

Geez, that's a pretty big bonus for being bound to a single element. If only there was a level 105 version or something around there...

Assuming 83 AMD with Pure Warrior Build and 100% Resistances with CIT:

Irolustres's Eviscerating Claw: 1063.963 531.968

The damage is just insane!

The Reckoning

Silly dragonmaster, you accidentally put in 2 hits.

With everything rolled in (total, not per hit):

The correct number at 100% resists w/ 83 AMD Pure Warrior should be 531.574, which is still ridiculous considering the circumstances.

Might be obvious but I felt I should post this. Generally the monster you would want to use this against are standard darkness monsters. By that I mean darkness/fire/energy monsters with something like 75% Darkness Resist. Due to the compensation bonus he may have 75% resist but with the bonus its like your effectively attacking a monster with 150% Resist. Of course you can work around that by bringing Scrambler beams with you and stuff but the best use of the armor is a standard darkness/fire/energy monster. Because of this I suggest bringing scrambler beam if you plan to own this armor and don't already own Nemesis. Because there are darkness monsters out there with non-"standard" aka extreme resist. By that I mean 0% or even worse -200% Resist.

Note: I'm probably using the terms "standard" and extreme resist wrong or loosely.

Edit: Forgot to include fire and energy monsters but I personally prefer UG for those monsters.

@Dev I did do it as a total but accidently had my darkness Resistence set to 200% from another comparison Lol I knew that sounded kinda sily.

Thanks for correcting:D

The Reckoning

Ah, that would do it as well. Either way, glad we got it sorted out!

the armor seems to have okay fire and energy res, I see a possible use against those monster types
newer monsters should have okay dark res, but older ones would just have ridiculous ice/water res such that you wouldn't want to attack with other elements
otherwise, it's down to scrambler beam, quite the strategic armor

off topic: would like to see a video of Algern vs wolfwing, nightbane, and some other strong darkness monsters out there

btw, what lean does this armor have? either the info subs doesn't have it or I've missed it

-5 bth, so *85/80 to compensate.

I find it quite useful against your typical strong Fire/Energy Monsters. Now I can easily Beat Thunder Lion (2) without having to use potions/healing spells.

X of the AQ Q&A/EC/BS

^ I think he means, defensive, mid-offensive, fully offensive ect..

^lol I miss understood. Thats still a mystery since it has the damage boosting effect. I'm betting my money on Mid-defensive.

By the amount of resistances that the armor covers I'd go with mid defensive.

I accidently wrote Mid-Offensive instead of Mid-Defensive. Corrected.

I should double check my messages more often 0_o

  In Media Res

There's no lean -- it's neither offensive nor defensive.

I thought people would notice there's no lean on it :/ The info subs clearly state there's no lean.

And its stats offense-wise are very similar to Nemesis' Testament, and from that, one would assume it has no lean just like Nemesis' Testament.

Thanks for the 104 version, bought it along with scrambler beacon
first test subject, Ultra Akriloth Dragon (165% dark, scrambled)
results are good

with same dark res as scourges tenet I may replace it when I aint fighting anything ice

edit: armor's default dark sword + weapon special = (animation wise)

i would only buy the armor for its resistances
and attack with flashlight , frozen dinner and the new flying fish

wow a 80% damage boost for being darkness only?
seems kind of overpowered , no?

you can use it on a darkness monster with 70% resistance and it will deal the same damage as if it was 130% resistance o-o

I dont think the percentages are added up. 1.8*0.7=1.26 or 126%. But yes, super powerful...

dang this armor is BEAST! this is the first item to motivate me to take the time to beat wolfwing (450).

anyone know the best time to beat wolfwing (450) cuz i just beat the snot out of him with this armor.

I see it is incredibly powerful for a no-lean armor, perhaps a temporary replacement for those warriors who do not own Nemesis/ who have scrambler beams

Now i don't wanna see any more comments like "I won't buy it because it is not an MC".Now we can clearly see EXACTLY how good a non MC armor can be...
