Agony of Chains Weapons (Axe/Staff/Spear)

Here (Info submissions thanks to In Media Res)

This is the thread in which to discuss comparisons between the new items and others. Unlike guide-like threads created via Comparison Posting you are not required to lay out comparisons in a formal manner in here. But remember - because you'll have read the forum rules of course - do not ask questions here like "what's best for me" / "which is the better weapon" - this is not a Question & Answer forum. Nor is it a general game discussion forum. Only post if you have something useful and relevant to add / discuss.

Threads created via the Comparison Posting forum (which then get moved to this Equipment Comparison forum once approved) normally remain on a permanent basis, whereas this =AQ= one is likely to be allowed to expire.

I'm curious if the axe is going to beat liquifactor since they both have nice abilities.

Liquifactor will likely win out at 1.05 boost, but the axe has better status effects.

Can the monster be both choked and burnt if it fails both saves?

is there a practical reason to buy this weapon for something other than the art and novelty? looking at those numbers it really doesnt look like this weapon have any practical uses at all if it loses convincingly to multiple gold alternatives.

Dragoon are you using Patriot Katana or Patriot Blade (145) in that comparison?

Dragoon is using the Patriot Katana in that comparison.

Even if it loses to a lot of gold-weapons (and Patriot Katana which I also own) I will definetely be playing around with this guy a bit. Sick art.

But do those numbers above account for the Burn effect? And choke is a great effect, the type of effect you'd want to pull off on a glass cannon or boss level monster.

No. those are just raw damage numbers.

the burn doesn't really add any damage when calculating it assuming two side coin roll for infliction it only does about 2 extra damage (1.5 for magic) per turn so it is rather useless.
but the choke is usefull ...... somehow.

using STR for roll rather nerfs it down to the ground. also the proc rate makes it useless for either offensive or defensive or even normal armors , i think the numbers just destroyed its coolness.

Well the 10% proc rate doesn't make it "useless" for all armors. Its still pretty effective in FO armors just not as good as 0% proc weapons. Low proc rates are great for people like me who like to see special animations while low procs still fare better than 20% proc rate (or higher) weapons in a FO armor.

But... 10% spec weapons are suited for MO Armors so I don't see how the weapon was ruined. Furthermore, once SLS% are activated, that difference will be even smaller. Lastly, STR roll nerfs it? Well, you didn't expect CHA to be used as a Major one for the monster, did you? If it was to be that easy to apply, I'd believe the power would be also brought down considerably. Regardless, you get these effects without any penalty or whatsoever.

i am talking from the power to look prospective , i know its made balanced.
i would rather see it as a fire replication of Giant Killer.

I see no one compared the poor old magic wep against current top level fire weapons =( I'll do the honours.

86 AMD | 100% Resist

326.663 Staff
326.201 Custom Staff 10% Proc
315.631 Supreme Overlord's Ascendancy

The staff wins due to it's 10% proc-ness ^_^

How much damage will the burn do across 2 turns?

I still wonder about the sudden fascination with Liquefactor. AfterVamp blade came out, it was literaly regarded as non existant...

Still Im gonna stick with PK. Custom staff is the most powerfull in game, and can be used to fill gaps, and liquefactor takes too many turns to activate the 1.1 boost. Even the max it reqches against ice essences is ~1.05 times the boost.
Will it still have a 9DPT over the katana? I think not!

Moe, can you tell us what Armor (and PLvl) as well as parts for Custom Staff? It's really unclear why CS loses whilst SoAC wins. The Armor could've been FO which makes it obvious but what parts were used for CS is still unclear. I won't mention players' stats.

I used standard numbers for 20% proc custom staff. 12BASE-24RAND, 19BtH, 1435% SBR, 54 BtH. Overlord wins due to it's inaccuracy ^_^ I used standard numbers for plvl 153 FO armour - 6.99BR 13.87STAT 19BTH. It should be obvious that the staff wins due to it's 10% proc-ness...I think?

@moe: none of your formulas work for me.

Slap on 10%Proc/ 0Proc+BTHMod, and Custom wins or is near the top.

One question: why use FO Armor and 20% Custom Staff? Isn't it better to use 0% because CS can be adjusted in such way? FO is aimed at 0% spec, not 20%..

200 INT/DEX/LUK, PLvl 153 FO Armor, 86 AMD
347.72	Custom Staff (0%, +5 BtH)

=(100+19+19+35+5-86 )/100*((12+36)*(6.99)+(28.75)*(13.87))/2*85/90*1.09

I just thought you guys would've wanted 20% proc ^_^ Edited to include 10% and 0% proc custom staffs. And Dragoon there's extra brackets I added by accident =P Corrected ones are here:

=(100+19+19+35-86)%*((12+24/2)*6.99+28.75/2*13.87)*0.9+((100+19+54-86)%)*((12+24/2)*1877%*0.1))
=(100+19+19+35-2-86)%*(85/83)*((12+24/2)*6.99+28.75/2*13.87)*0.8+((100+19+54-2-86)%*85/83)*((12+24/2)*1435%*0.2)
=(100+19+19+35-86)%*((12+24/2)*6.99+28.75/2*13.87)*0.8+((100+19+54-86)%)*((12+24/2)*1435%*0.2)

They seem correct to me when I input them into google's calculator =P
