<Character>: Alright...this sounds like the place described in the scroll. I can see a lot of monsters in there.
<Character>: Are you ready <Dragon>?
*Your dragon nods.*
<Character>: Then let's go!
*You fight your way through various monsters as you approach the resting place of the Shard.*
<Character>: There it is.
<Dragon>: This doesn't feel right.
<Character>: I know what you mean. It's like the walls are watching us.
<Dragon>: ........
???: Who disturbs this sacred place?
*The Elemental Guardian of the Shard appears before you.*
Teramax: Why are you here soft one?
<Character>: With the Earth Orb gone <Dragon> has no way to fully unlock his powers of earth.
<Character>: We need this power to be strong enough in the coming battles.
Teramax: You are not strong enough now? Those that guarded the entrance here were no match for you and they have repelled other invaders.
<Character>: The power that we could unlock by communing with your artifact would help us defeat beings that are far more powerful...
<Character>: ... and who are intent on further destroying balance between the elements.
Teramax: If you had the patience of stone you would not feel as though you needed this so quickly.
<Character>: If there was another way we would take it but there isn't.
Teramax: *sigh* Very well. I will allow this only if you prove yourself through the *grinding rock noise*
<Character>: The what?
Teramax: As you would call it, a "trial by combat". If you can best me in battle I shall allow what you wish.
Battle! - begins battle with Teramax and 2 Earth Elementals.
Heal - fully replenishes HP, MP, and potions.
Run Away! - returns to Sunbreeze Grove (Book 3).
Teramax: It is done.
Teramax: You have bested me and you may commune with the Shard.
*Teramax moves to allow your dragon to resonate with the Shard. Both the Shard and your dragon glow chartreuse as sparks fly, establishing a connection.*
Teramax: Leave now.
Teramax: Do not reveal this resting place to anyone else or I will revoke my gift.
<Character>: You have my word.
*You and your dragon leave the cavern and return to Sunbreeze Grove.*
Elysia: <Character>, how did it go? Did you succeed?
<Character>: Yes, we did. It took a lot and we had to face down one of the most powerful elementals I've ever seen...
<Character>: ...but we now have the power we need.
Elysia: You met an elemental guardian?
Elysia (thinking): I know the scrolls talked about them, but I never would have thought one was actually there. That it really existed.
Elysia: I would have loved to meet it. The things it must know... but we have more important things to do right now.
Elysia: <Dragon> should now be able to wield the power of primal earth.
Elysia: Talk to me again and I will make the changes occur.
