Tick, tick, tick...

Fuse, aka Jeremy Adams, clicked off the seconds with his tongue impatiently, gripping the satchel on his hip with one nervous hand, leaning against the Commerce District bank, the rough brick pressing into his leather jacket. He looked at his boss, the man who hid behind the mask, who in turn stared straight back at the explosives specialist. The black eyes made him shiver, a quiver that started at the top of his spine, where his neck hairs stood straight on end, like soldiers at attention, and rattled throughout his vertebrae. Fuse was a police officer, ironically, before he turned to crime. He worked on bomb squads, and had always been adept at deactivating and reactivating explosives. That was, until he blew up his entire unit, and turned out to be the only survivor, having only been thinking about the bomb while putting on his equipment. After discovering his powers, Fuse became a villain, because bank robbing was much more profitable than actually working. It was easier, too. He had quickly discovered that explosions were good ways to get in and out of banks quickly.

Tick, tick, tick...

Fuse started pacing in the small alley, glaring at the bomb on the wall. He wasn't allowed to set it off yet. His accomplice wouldn't let him. Fuse really, really wanted to. But no. The masked man threatened to do terrible things to Fuse, things Fuse knew he could do. The man was only here for a few more moments, anyways. Just to make sure Fuse didn't blow (Fuse laughed at his own joke, earning him a round of glares from all assembled) the operation. Two more villains stood behind him, a mister Jeckel, who was a hulking mass of teeth and muscle, but too stupid to know any order more complicated than kill. The other was a miss Silence, an assassin with the ability to still sound waves in the air, making it impossible to hear anything. She did this now, as finally, FINALLY, the masked man nodded to Fuse, who in turn pointed to the bomb on the side of the wall, and snapped his fingers.

Tick, tick, tick....BOOM!

Fuse stepped back, just as the masked man disappeared, though how and to where were unknown to Fuse, nor did he care. Fuse was in charge now, and that's all he cared about. Jeckel swooped in, slamming into a guard, and smashing his skull in with one giant fist. Silence was next, silencing the screams and cries with her power, drawing two semi automatic hand guns and opening up on the civilians. Hostages were irrelevant here. Fuse stepped in next, and quickly made his way to the vault. He knew a silent alarm had been triggered, and that cameras had most definitely picked up on their entrance. Setting to work, he left the killing of everyone inside the bank to the other two, and pressed a set of det cord and plastic explosives to the face. Just another day in NNY, really. Sure, law enforcement, heroes, independants, the FBSA, and anyone with a shred of good in their body would probably be on top of them soon, but Fuse was excited, impatient even, to get a fight going. Civilians were nothing but fodder, but supers? Supers were the real deal.

Tick, tick, tick...

"Today seemed like just another day in the life of a hero." The Dicer muttered to himself, while crouched on the top of a random building. With resolve, he clenched his hand into a fist. "It seems like any other day, but there's never a day where there is not a desire for justice! Truly, the city never sleeps for, if it did, it would look much nicer than it does now...." The superhuman undead glanced across the town, taking specific notes on a peculiar looking wall covered in graffiti. "It's an insomniac city, that's why.... But if it wasn't, this would be a pretty gorgeous city. Maybe some eyeliner or some new paint and this would be a pretty good looking city....." After a moment of silence, getting lost in his train of thought, The Dicer stopped and stood up. "What am I monologue about again?" A slight sigh escaped him as he gave up on figuring out where he was going with his own speech. "This sounded better in my head."

Suddenly, the feint sound of an explosion of some kind caught the attention of The Dicer! It seemed like it came from his west, but where exactly was it.... Could it be from the bank? "Of course!" The Dicer exclaimed. "The bank! Those fiends!" With a wave of his arm, a dice block seemed to pop into existence before the undead motioned downwards, commanding the dice to land on the roof below him. Then, quickly, several dice split off from the original dice, forming a square platform of dice below his feet. Within a fraction of a second, the platform elevated slightly with another layer of dice before slowly forming a simple three-layer staircase for the superhuman to walk on out of even more dice. With each step, the dice seemed to bond together harder, forming a solid surface that could support his full weight as the undead cautiously went down.

"Ok... it's not as sturdy as I thought it would be...." He mentioned to himself as he made his tedious descent down to the streets. "Don't worry, bank owners! I'm going to stop them! ... Eventually!"

Someone high up in the mafia had paid Rex a hell of a visit. Disturbing his routine of vigorous workout to offer him a really high paying gig. A bank robbery. Dressed in his business suit and fedora hat, the symbiote responding to his thoughts and emotions. He tucked up the collar of his business jacket glancing at the entrance to the bank. When the guy had visited, they said that a robbery would be taking place. Pulling out a newspaper Rex decided to keep an eye on the place. Sure it could swarm with cops. But they didn't really know Rex's identity. The mafia did a good job of covering his identity to the feds.

Rex read the business news section, obviously he'd heard the sound of that first explosion. The Master Beast knew if someone else heard that explosion, there would be an investigation. He pulled out his sunglasses and slid them on. It was sunny outside. Sure the whole world had gone to hell. But that only meant a good payday for him.

The business news described today's current events concerning stock prices and subsided loans and other stuff. Rex wasn't feigning any kind of interest. He was genuinely watching the joint, but he was actually reading the articles. That much would be clear to any yahoo who just happened to walk by.

Course Rex was a lot better at the villain game then most. The symbiote allowed him to blend in. And a professionally dressed business man reading a business news section near a bank was not in the least inconspicuous. Many people who made a lot of dough or had great businesses, visited a bank on a daily basis.

The Master Beast already knew the entire layout of the bank. The mafia man left him a blueprint of the joint. He knew the exits, knew where the security camera's were, the whole nine yards. All Rex had to do was simply "borrow" the cash for the mob.

What the killer wolf didn't know was how many perpetuators were inside. Nor did he know why exactly all sound had ceased. After all, you'd figure an explosion would cause people in the bank to scream or yell in fear. Oddly enough not a single voice had cried out yet. That made Master Beast highly suspicious. His job was simply get the dough. He wanted to avoid human casualties. They tended to lead towards… inquiring minds and investigations were generally longer.

He didn't actually care if he killed or not. But he wasn't really in the mood to kill humans. He was only interested in the loot.

"They have to come out sometime." He thought to himself. "And when they do. I make my move." He'd already set up two tiny micro-camera's that he'd purchased set on the undersides of rooftop vantage points aimed at the other two exits he wasn't watching.

The micro-camera's would transmit a picture directly to his cell. Giving him a first-hand look at which exit was being used. It wasn't really that hard to hide a micro-camera. They were very small, semi-cheap and if set up right. Were a valuable asset.

He took a quick look at the cell then turned the page to sports. Surprisingly enough in this heck hole of a place, with the world gone to crud and all, there were still sports and events and journalists and all. Everyone had to make a living.

The Killer wolf smiled quietly reading about his favorite baseball team winning in a score of 8 to 5 this week.

Richard was already up and moving, rearranging all the items on shelves in his house so that every 3rd item was purple. He jumped in alarm when the phone rang, not expecting a call this early. When he answered the phone, Richard spoke in his best imitation of an answering machine and stated "You've reached the office of President Gerald Ford. Please speak now or forever hold your peace." This threw off the man on the other end of the phone, who paused in confusion for a moment before informing Richard of what had happened. Richard's immediate response was "No! Not the bank! He had so much to live for....Anyway, I'll be there right away to give those criminals a piece of my mind. Probably the Medulla Oblongata..." He then hung up before the other man could say anything, grabbed his gear, and rushed out the door.

Richard arrived at the scene of the crime, and stepped up to the barricade set up by the police. One officer stopped him, asking "Name and reason for being here, sir. We can't just let anyone through." Richard stood there for a moment, thinking to himself and mumbling "Who am I....who am I...." Finally, he looked up to the officer and said "I got it! I am Karl Marx! Great inventor of the tandem unicycle. I am here to stop the criminals!" The officer looked genuinely confused, and nearly turned Richard away, but one of the other policemen stopped him, saying "Sir, that's Harbinger, one of the heroes. We should let him through." The officer waved Richard through, and he approached, stopping in front of the bank, to await the inevitable arrival of other heroes.

Eric Bastion, also known at The Dicer and That One Undead Guy, finally managed to show up at the police barricade. Excitedly, he waved his hand at the officers in front of the bank as he approached. The trip down here would have probably left a normal person winded and sweaty, but, without any pores or lungs, The Dicer didn't have this problem. Although he did feel exhausted from the stress of walking down the hastily constructed dice-stairs, as any normal person would.... At his presence, several of the newer cops seemed to raise an eyebrow of confusion at his appearance while many of the ones who had been on the police force longer greeted The Dicer with more annoyed and worried looks. One of them even seemed to visibly facepalm as he arrived.

"Name and reason for being here?" one of the newer cops started as The Dicer approached. To which another officer quickly responded with a bitter "Just let him through. Trust me, it's for the best bef-"

"Who, ME???" The superhuman shouted, enthusiastically. If he had eyes, a twinkle of joy would have shone through them in that moment as he prepared his introductory speech. A speech the other officers had heard far too many times on far too many occasions. "They call me by many names, CubeLord, Mr. Bones, Skully... but I mainly go by.... The DICE-er! Once an everyday person just like you, my life changed, forEVER, the day I was gunned down by the mob! Desperate and in pain, my mind cried out for only one thing. JUSTICE!!! And Justice answered by giving me the form you see today! I am the hope of all people who wish to end crime and the thing that the criminal mind fears the most. I am the skeleton in the closet that is about to COME OUT and shine a light on their dastardly activities of wicked deeds! For, fear not, citizen, I shall be there to thwart them and put them where they belong. Behind the noble iron bars... OF JUSTICE!!! Be it robbers, lawyers, clowns, of thieves, none can escape my almighty powers!"

Quickly, the newer cop responded in a confused tone. "Wait," he began. "Robbers and thieves are the same thing. And the other two things you mentioned are perfectly legal activities...."

"Just let him through." The older officer stated. "He'll just keep talking, otherwise. One time he kept going on like this for five hours." The officer took a deep breath before forcefully exhaling through his nose in frustration. "Just let that sink in for a bit. Five hours. FIVE hours.... He kept going on about justice like this... for FIVE STINK'N HOURS!!! I was almost done with my shift, too, my wife was scared to death!"

"... And I'm sure she's a pleasant lady...." The Dicer awkwardly added before simply walking past the barricade on his own and heading to the front of the bank. It looked like there was already a superhero there, a man in a trench coat. Or, was he a supervillain, instead.... It was hard to say, but trench coats were usually pretty evil. Some would probably consider it the 4th most evil thing someone could have, behind a twisty mustache, some form of cigar, skulls on something, or an eyepatch. Cautiously, CubeLord Eric Bastion raised his right hand and prepared to summon a dice block just in case this man was here to cause trouble as he approached him.

Richard had heard the conversation behind him, but acted like he was more focused on the bank. When he noticed Dicer approaching, he turned to greet him, and high-fived the raised hand. "Ah! Mr. Cube-Man! I see you are here to assist me, the great Mark Antony, co-founder of Roman Empire Inc., in stopping these criminals. This is good. Mainly because I wanted someone I could relate to, rather than those dastardly thieves. Bad at life choices, AND being good party hosts...." He trailed off in thought for a moment, before returning to the topic at hand. "Now then, how should we dispose of these brigands? I suggest he bash down the front door, and charge at them limbs flailing! THAT'S sure the catch them by suprise." He stood there in waiting for a reply, confident Dicer would agree to his plan.

Annoying. That's what the idiots that tried to rob the bank were to Blane. She was the closest operative near the crime scene, so she was called on-duty during her off time as she was enjoying a meal at her favorite restaurant. So with a bag of baked chips in her left hand, Blane walked from the restaurant to the bank; a distant of one hundred and thirty yards. At the barricade, Blane showed the officers her FBSA badge, but it wasn't really necessary. Most of the police force, as well as the public, knew her. Though it was as Black Percher, an extremely dangerous super that answers straight to Gerard Martins. When the officers saw her face, they quickly moved out of the way for her.

Munching on her chips, Blane heard a voice. Reaching the front of the bank, she saw who the voice belonged to. It was Richard Washington, or Richie as Blane called him. The insane hero, who's antics amused her from time to time. At the moment he was in a discussion with.... a skeleton?

"That's right. There's an undead independent that goes by the name of 'The Dicer'...what a lame name."

"Now then, how should we dispose of these brigands? I suggest he bash down the front door, and charge at them limbs flailing! THAT'S sure the catch them by surprise."

Blane sighed, finishing her chips and crunching the bag to catch the attention of the other two. Speaking out in a soft voice, she rejected Harbinger's idea. "...That's not a smart move Richie. One of the villains can control bombs. He could have placed one next to the front door. If you head straight in... you might get blown to bits. Another...is using guns." Blane stretched out her right arm towards the two. Her watch showed the feed from the cameras. One of the perks of being a top ranked operative.

"Surprise is good...but it has to be quiet." She put a finger on her mouth to emphasize what she had just said. Blane then turned her head to the skeleton. "I have a plan...and you can help. Help...and I'll overlook the fact... that you shouldn't be here...Mr. Dicer."

Blane gave The Dicer a smile. A cold smile, warning him that he should just listen and play along.

The Dicer nodded as the self-named co-founder of Rome mentioned his plan for a direct assault. "You go in first, I'll stay behind you and throw dice a-" his response was quickly interrupted by a nearby voice speaking against their plan. Instantly, the undead turned around to see who it was only to be met by a rather unassuming young girl.

"...That's not a smart move Richie. One of the villains can control bombs. He could have placed one next to the front door. If you head straight in... you might get blown to bits. Another...is using guns. Surprise is good...but it has to be quiet." The girl showed them some video from inside the office as proof. Silently, emotionlessly, the superhuman realized just who she was and who she worked for. Blane Nagisa, more commonly known as Black Percher. He had done quite a bit of research into the FBSA, especially before the incident, even though he hadn't had that much contact with them in the past. He hadn't met Back Percher before this, of course, but he made sure to look up every notable member of the FBSA for reference. And Black Percher was definitely one of the more notable members.... "Surprise is good...but it has to be quiet. I have a plan...and you can help. Help...and I'll overlook the fact... that you shouldn't be here...Mr. Dicer."

She made a good point and had him interested. The Dicer reluctantly decided to go with this in spite of the implied threat. "Fine. I'm not exactly proud of working with the FBSA, but justice comes first and I don't know how well my dice will work against BOMBS! Just say what you want me to do and I'll take care of it."

Everyone was so interested in what was going on inside the bank, that they completely ignored the threat standing right under their noses.

Rex turned the page to the weather, gazing at it with interest. Two super heroes arrived on the scene. The police were oh so very kind in revealing to him their names. Harbinger and Dicer. The mafia had it's own network.

But the next person marching up to the front of the line. She didn't need an introduction. She was in the papers before. The Black Percher. That just figured.

Rex casually lifted his phone to his ear acting like he'd received a vibrational call. His voice was calm and completely relaxed. But what he actually had done was take a picture of the three people. It didn't have a flash and the audible click could have been him taking the call from call waiting.

Even in these days, telephone access was still used despite the setbacks and the warfare that had raged previously.

Limited internet access however was easily handled when a person worked for the mob. Moving the phone casually back to his newspaper after saying "Good-bye." in case the heroes wanted to listen in. Now he was glancing at the weather page while reading what the mafia knew about the three.

Naturally they advised against a direct contact with The Black Percher. No real information could be given about Dicer. And the last one was unimportant. They were going to enter by stealth. A very good idea indeed.

Putting away the phone, The Master Beast calmly walked down the side alley, casual and without speed. This particular side-street lead to a brick wall, and a window with a two and a half story drop.

Once he was out of sight, he calmly altered his clothing and added the correct amount of makeup to his face to look exactly like one of the detectives of the force. Walking up to the back entrance, he waved politely to one of the cops and pulled out his gun. As soon as he reached the door, he turned the handle just a tad. Smelling the thermal heat of a nearby bomb he released the handle.

He calmly walked back to the side previous. and narrowed his eyes looking up at the windows. He slid the gun back. It was an exact model to the ones that cops used.

A quick movement of his arm sent the webbing flying upwards. He caught hold and climbed up the side of the building, making sure to pull up the webbing so he wouldn't be caught.

Once at the window, The killer wolf shot webbing at the video camera's cutting off the view to the outside world and the FBSA. He jumped down off the side of the wall landing onto the floor.

"Looks like you boys and gals got yourselves a whole mess o trouble. I'll just get what I came for." The Master Beast said looking at them. He still looked like the detective, but his body shifted as he went at a full run to the wall safe. He was just interested in the loot.

"Don't worry, I'll leave you some too." The killer wolf said. He flexed his muscles and ripped the wall safe's door right off it's hinges. "By the way. You got some company outside. Black Percher, Dicer and Harbinger."

Let them deal with that. I'll deal with what I came for.

Master beast filled his briefcase with some smaller jewels (rubies, quartz, diamond) and about 15 grand. He left the rest for the other guys that had done all the work.

"Been a real pleasure boys. But I gotta run." The killer wolf said calmly.

Richard heard what Black Percher had suggested about stealth, and agreed with "Stealth sounds like the best move. After all, as Hideo Kojima, the most sneaky ninja of the times, knows that stealth is always right." He stood and examined the bank for a short while, then turned back and asked "Should we enter through the hole they made in the side of the bank, when they blew up their bomb? That may give us enough of an advantage to get the leap on 'em!"

"Should we enter through the hole they made in the side of the bank, when they blew up their bomb? That may give us enough of an advantage to get the leap on 'em!"

Blane nodded her head to Richie and pointed at The Dicer. "Yea...the skeleton will enter through there...and distract them. I'll...stand outside the hole...and have my virus cloud engulf the inside of the building."

Blane turned towards the building just across from the bank and pointed at it's roof. "Richie...you keep watch up there. If anything that doesn't look like a skeleton comes out of the bank...take it down." Turning the face the skeleton again, Blane reassured it. "Don't worry. Nothing will be able to get close to you if you stay next to my cloud. All you have to do...is keep them occupied long enough...for my cloud to cover the exits and entrances...I'll do the rest. Just watch out...for the one using guns."

Blane's eyes flickered towards the camera feed on her wrist. Another person, other than the three that were already inside the bank, had shown up and had ripped the vault's door off it's hinges.

Blane scowled, annoyed at the sudden appearance of yet another villain super. "All these damn -a word that can be used to describe striking the ground with a plough- ing sewer rats coming out of the works! Tch, if we're going to do this, it's gonna hav'ta be now!"

With that, Blane headed towards the alleyway the first bomb exploded in.

"A distraction, you say?" The Dicer muttered as he followed Blane. At that moment, a smile would have formed on his face if he was capable of forming one with his skinless body. "Yeah, I can do something like that.... You know what? I kind-of like this plan!" A slight laugh escaped him as they approached the hole before the undead superhuman darted forward without warning, eager to put his powers to use.

Moving quickly, The Dicer formed three dice, tossing them inside of the hole as he leaped on top of them. The dice multiplied rapidly beneath his feet forming a fairly wide platform large enough to go across the hole the bomb had made before. Then, without a second thought, The Dicer formed a quick, slightly curved, square wall of dice in front with a quick upward motion of his arm using the dice below him. "YEAH!!! This is the fastest Dice Wall I've ever been able to form!" The undead exclaimed loudly at his new accomplishment. He shifted his weight to his right foot as he turned and pointed at the villains, triumphantly, unseen behind his special Dice Wall. "Halt, criminal! Criminals? Crime... people...?" The superhuman started before realizing he forgot to take not of how many people were actually robbing the bank. "Do you know who I am? Huhh?!?" The Dicer shouted, curling his hand into a fist in his excitement behind the Dice Wall, unable to even see where they were from his position. "Don't you know just who the heck I am?! If you did, you might just think twice about your actions and turn yourselves in this instant!"

The Master Beast turned when The Dicer made his entrance by speaking to them. This was all he needed. A bunch of stupid super heroes cashing in on his mission. He looked at the other Villain's "See? Told ya." Killer Wolf pulled out his cell and used his micro camera's to get an idea of where the other two heroes were. He could see Black Percher once his micro-camera lens moved towards the middle wall. She was out there. "Great. Just. Great."

"Percher's out at the wall." He said calmly to the other villains glancing back at his cell again. "That leaves one hero unaccounted for. I'd wager a guess he's back-up somewhere."

Putting the phone back in his pocket, The Master Beast grabbed his briefcase and shot a line of webbing back up to the second story window. Climbing up to the window, Rex tossed the webbing back down for the others to climb up. He looked over at the wall where the dicer was and shot a stream of webbing at a water-tank from the water cooler, pulling it towards him. Once there he flung the water tank right out the window at a trajectory of where he'd seen the Black Percher. He dove out the window a second later, briefcase in hand and proceeded to make his way up to the roof of the building. He could outrun the percher and dicer from up here. But first he had to make a quick call. Pulling his cell out he rang a number. "Yeah, I got the loot. I'm gonna need transport." He nodded and hung up quickly placing the phone back in his pocket.

The trouble with those dang super-hero types is that they never once bothered to ask questions, such as, Why does the government want to control them so badly?

He was trying to decide which direction to move in. He wasn't at all sure where the transport was going to show up. He just knew that one was close and moving in.
