Ravinia pressed herself against the wall, using its slick surface to steady herself. She was beginning to feel dizzy, the lightning in the center and the constant smell of ozone making her head spin. "Just a little longer..." she whispered, her voice haggard from her journey. "Don't give up... Not yet..." She shut her eyes for a single moment, letting the the sense of calm overtake her. The minute she closed her eyes however, she heard a large boom. Ravinia dashed to the right, using the wall to steady herself as all the shadow's of the arena spun towards her, collecting in a small pool at her feet, before moving back to where they had once been. She landed in a crouch, her eyes shooting open just as her feet touched the ground. She quickly scanned the surrounding area, watching the other competitors. She had only closed her eyes for a moment, but in that short time, much had changed. The first thing she noticed was the absence of the ice angel. Ravinia quickly realized that the boom had probably been a marking of the creatures death, although whether arena or competitor had slayed the mighty being, Ravinia did not know. One threat gone, she thought grimly, slowly standing.

Ravinia was now closer to where the short-fish woman stood, as she had moved about 5 feet to the right, staying close to the edges of the arena. She stayed as far away from the center as possible. The spire unsettled her, the energy that it produced was frightening, just the sight of it making her cringe. "Just a little longer..." She whispered again, scanning the arena. "Don't give up-" She stopped mid sentence, watching as a large monkey began began to fight her fish friend. He was a rather nonthreatening monkey. No tail, and yet, he seemed so determined and calm. A small smile appeared on her face as she moved forwards, her bagh naka idly clicking by her sides. This would certainly be entertaining! Besides, she was tired of hiding. With that, she charged, leaping towards the monkey. "Need some help friend?" She asked, teeth gritted. "Because I'm done with all this monkey business!"

Lance kept his head lowered just under shoulder line, facing off against his opponent. Never breaking focus off of the ice being in front of him, Lance paced to either side in an attempt to corner the strange being and catch it off guard. The creature didn't seem to move. Lance let off a low growl before lunging forward, preparing to pounce and hoping to latch onto the creature. As quickly as Lance had made the motion, the creature lifted itself into the air and fled across the arena.

That feeling deep within his gut, the one that had quickly begun making his decisions for him, told Lance to run. His opponent was attempting to make an escape and was flying. Lance charged after behind it, arcing his path to the south of the dangers in the center of the arena. There was no point in finding out just what that much surging energy would do to a hell hound. Lance watched intently as the strange being flew further and further from his reach, urging himself to sprint faster. His opponent, was now prey.

Lance slowed his chase as he reached near the southern end of the arena, keeping distance between himself and the other competitors that were making their way along. The ice being had come into contact with another combatant. The distance was too far to determine just who or what it was, however, it seemed to be riding on water as well.

"Water... Wonderful..."

The idea of an opponent that could control water wasn't ideal. While water itself wasn't necessarily a detriment to a hell hound, it made attacks difficult, as well as dissipated heat rather quickly. Lance resolved to avoid this opponent whenever possible. The two seemed to engage in combat for a moment, their movements entangled when-

Flash

Another flash bolted across the arena. This one, though, seemed different from the others. The force of the flash stained Lance's vision for a moment. As soon as he could see, the battlefield was suddenly altered. The ice being was now nowhere to be seen. Its scent, however, was everywhere. The smell of ice pervaded his senses as the snow began to fall across the arena. Lance lowered his head, put off by the scent it. The snow sizzled, sputtered, and evaporated when coming within feet of the hound as he shook his head as a wet dog may, though no snow nor rain fell close enough to make contact with the bone of the hound.

Creatures of all kinds dashed across the arena quickly now, or so it seemed. Lance watched from the southernmost side of the arena, waiting to single out an opponent for the sensation of a hunt to take him of his senses again.

He slowed down the speed at which he spun the rope, transfixed by the sight that began to play out before him. The tailless monkey... Just that had confused him a bit, as all monkeys had tails. Though that is not what had truly transfixed his attention. He saw the monkey come to a stop and a staff of some kind expand from something in it's hand. To his right both the water mage and the statue creature were charging towards the monkey. Yet it stood still waiting for both of them.

No way is it foolish enough to take on two opponents like that at once. I could be wrong, but from that stance it looks to have a plan.

Some movement to his right pulled him out of his thoughts. The water mage had made a motion with an object in their hand, a hammer of some sorts Cole guessed. With the motion the water beneath their feet boosted them upwards towards the statue creature. The mage brought the hammer crashing down once they were above the statue. I guess they weren't in any type of alliance. Though I wonder why they both attacked the monkey at the same time.

The sight of the spire in the middle of the arena caught his attention before darkness became all he could see. By this time the momentum the gem had was gone and the rope hung limply in his hand. When the darkness lifted the spire seemed fine but snow covered the ground and floated in the air and the statue creature was no where to be seen.

Cole’s thoughts raced as he tried to figure out what had happened. Deciding to keep his mind in the present he checked to reaffirm all the positions of the other competitors.

To his left the spear thrower was moving away through the air to the western section of the arena, away from what was about to brawl. To the right was his first target, now upon a closer inspection they had some sort of cat motif. The feline one had started a charge at the monkey. Noting that the monkey was again outnumbered by opponents, Cole idly wondered if he should intervene. Something else past the melee that was about to begin had caught his attention. Past them, though was something that drove a chill through Cole's blood. A hound stood there, made from bone and flame as best as he could tell. He could see steam rising around it; standing there it watched them all.

Cole closed his eyes and took a deep breath before stepping backwards next to his equipment. Loosening the knot and sliding both rope and gem back into his pack he took an assessment of the situation.

Either the feline one has some form of healing ability or they simply didn't get hit by the last bolt I sent their way. The hound might be a problem since it generates heat and might have other tricks as well. The spear thrower is far out of range of a normal shot and I don't want to waste more shots. The monkey and water mage are about fight along with the feline. Do I help the monkey? Or do I worry about the hound?

Taking another deep breath Cole stopped himself from picking up the rifle and aiming it. Instead, Cole decided to step back and watch the ensuing fight between three competitors. He did pick up his rifle, but kept it in hand unaimed while watching both the melee and the hound.

One must be reminded not to provoke the gods of any theology, as one could assume it was the case here. With just a simple flash that killed all light, Emotionless was utterly destroyed, turned into small specks of snow to land on his nose. In a morbid sense, it reminded him of the mountains back home. The hot springs helped fend off the cold where his family lived. Of course, this is an arena of death. An arena that apparently has a will of its own.

Though there were other matters to attend to now. Emotionless may be gone but there was still the matter of getting a ready. As he quickly looked, he pushed down his staff backs to its small form. He still had time to meet up with Stocky after-all. He looked towards his soon-to-be foe and saw how she raised her shield against thin air. Paranoid much? Would not blame her as everything besides himself would kill. Guess it is time for a one-on-one then. Albeit a bit more friendly direction with it. Perhaps it will be welcomed. Though if anyone still joins in, his original plan of leading them towards the east will still apply. Having a crowd of more than three combatants is certainly unappealing.

He hid his staff behind his back and gracefully stepped towards Stocky, who now was a bit confused by the specks of snow. With every step closer, he made sure not to present a huge threat, at least in terms of death. As he became within vocal range, he spoke to his soon to be opponent. “Well, is it not Stocky! Look at you! Worry like your heart will stop bumping… in a heart-beat! Relax, I am no threat, in terms of death.” He smiles as he gave his choice of words.

Stocky’s response though was less than friendly. Such a wound was given! “Sorry; furry, but if you’ve stepped in here, I’ve no cause to believe that. Still, if you want to throw down, I’ll be willing.” Ready for battle, hmm? Oh well, no more formalities.

“Such a pity that you wound me with such a comment… but oh well!” He laughs to himself for a bit. “If you want a battle though, you have one right here!” He reveals his shortened staff and was about to press the button where he just notices that One-Who-Can’t-Hide was approaching. Good thing he thought of the plan from earlier then. Wait a second. Was she screaming? The nickname is making more and more sense at the second. What was her weapon again? Just seems like she is just charging forth wildly with no sense of direction or thought.

With a click of a button, his staff extended where he diagonally swung his staff downward in order to create distance against the new intrusion. He mimicked the act of circling the opponent as he quickly short-hopped to the left, yet not getting too close to the center. Ever so carefully eyeing the movements of the two opponents in front of him.

Her strike looked true. She swore she could feel it hit home. But see? She could see nothing. A blinding flash, the brightest the spire had ever given, forced her eyes closed, and the crack of thunder that accompanied left her head, and ears, ringing. With a groan, she sank back to the ground, boots striking stone with a ring and a clank.

There’s little time for recovery. Whether the white flier survived or not, there could a staff aimed at her head. She turns, shield raised, allowing the ringing to subside and the world to come back into focus.

The monkey’s not gotten too much closer, though his (maybe her?) staff is gone. Odd. Still holding onto a thing thou- oh. Ohhh. She grins. Now that’s impressive. Collapsing staff. Worth to be wary.

She raises her hammer, takes a step forward, and stops, blinking. Something cold on her nose. What’s this? Snow? Little flakes of it, all around. Is that what happened to the flier? Her hammer couldn’t do that. The spire maybe? She grunts, and hops to her left, away from that black mass of death. Hopefully there’s no repeat. She would very much dislike to be reduced to metal dust.

The monkey steps forward, shifting his hands behind his back. She narrows her eyes, brow furrowing under her cap. And now he’s talking. Stocky, yadda yadda no threat? Hmph. Not likely. “Sorry, furry, but if you’ve stepped in here, I’ve no cause to believe that. Still, if you want to throw down, I’ll be willing.”

The monkey’s an odd one. Wound? No matter. Time to fi- Oh bother. Movement to her right. Black cloth and orange- right, tiger-skin. Fast. Too fast to intercept, but she didn’t have to. The girl was charging the monkey, not her. Realities of the arena. No duel left alone.

She takes another step left, as the monkey brings out the staff. “Mirror. Forge.” Her shield seeps water, circular replica suspended in air, and her gauntlets glow blue, awaiting her wishes. It’s a simple maneuver from there, a thrusting of her shield arm and a chopping of her hammer, and the mirror flies forward, to splash on the stone at the feet of her foes.

Slippery footing does no fighter favors.

Keihäs lands on her feet, a couple of inches above the ground, in front of the western arena entrance. There had been no interruptions, but that probably meant that her opponents were preoccupied. She turns around, the one with the water enchantments and monkey are about to engage one another and the fashionable one seems intent on joining in on the fun. The water enchanter does not seem to agree however, the enchanted shield produces a duplicate which the enchanter then proceeds to destroy thereby covering the ground surrounding the monkey and the fashionable one with water.

Her idea was to stay ahead of the approaching monkey and water enchanter, possibly await them if there would be the need. However, with this recent development she decides against interfering with the brawl. It would get too big and too messy too fast. The hound to her left she decides to reserve for when the water enchanter is freed up, assuming the monkey, the fashionable one or the assassin do not do her in first.

Having the seen the monkey's staff contract and extend in the course of the last few moments, Cole idly wondered what mechanics allowed for this and how it worked. Though he was more interested in what the water mage's actions would cause. Splashing down water in front of themselves was indeed tactically sound as it served as a hindrance to both the monkey and the feline. The feline looked to be trying to assist the water mage even though it appeared that the mage wouldn't need it in this fight. The hound stood in it's place still watching and the spear thrower beyond it did the much the same as the hound.

Hmm. I am the closest to this would be brawl. Not the best place to be since I don't know the range and power of the water mage. Probably best that I move from my current location. The spear thrower saw me. Who's to say that the others wouldn't either?

Crouching down Cole quickly packed away most of the extra bolts he had laid out. He kept three in his left hand and he pocketed an extra wind gem in case he were to run out of shots with the one currently in his rifle. Hanging his still strung crossbow at his waist, bolt slot facing the outside of his right leg, he slid his pack over his left shoulder as he began to edge around the fight by going to his right and keeping his face towards the fight. His right hand kept his rifle at the ready in case one of the combatants made a move on him.

He moved up a step to avoid the incoming water coming towards his feet. An attempt to make him slide down to the center and get fried? A bit futile due to the arena's structure against someone aware. He looked at One-Who-Can't-Hide and saw that she was stumbling a bit due to the water. An opening has been made for either him or Stocky to get rid of her. While corralling his opponents is a necessity, if only because it lessens the chance of him being blind-sided, two versus one can not stay at the current battle condition. He thrusted his staff towards Stocky's ankles to make her back off as he rushed at One-Who-Can't-Hide and used his right hand to grab her elbow. He then quickly pulled it behind his opponent's back and slammed his foot down on the back of her knees, creating a loud crack of bone in the arena. He then twisted One-Who-Can't-Hide's arm snapping it as well, effectively incapacitating her. Done with her, he threw her over his back which caused her to topple down the steps out of harm's way.

He huffed in exasperation due to One-Who-Can't-Hide's intrusion but quickly calmed and smiled at his original opponent. "As I said, I do not kill." He then leaned back and leveled the front end of his staff towards his opponent's knees. "Now, we shall truly begin," he remarked with a slight chuckle. Shields would normally not be a problem due to preference of attacking the lower area. Though Stocky's shorter stature causes some issues. Yet that is the joy of duels. Thinking outside of your opponent's expected combat situations. He waved his hand back and forth as if he was taunting in an attempt to provoke any sort of reaction.

He's a sure-footed one. Better on his feet than the girl, at the least. He's a quick one, too, with that staff thrust; she takes a step back, to avoid a sweep. Her boots would have taken the blow without issue, of course.

And, finally, he's strong enough to break those bones. Yeah, the girl might not be dead. She won't be doing very much for the next half year, though. She gives the monkey a look through narrowed eyes, sets her shield, and grunts. "Yeah, I guess it does."

Water's still at his feet. Footing is slippery, but not for her. The boots make sure of that. So she charges, shield forward and hammer ready for the follow-up strike. "Mirror," she speaks, and the shield seeps, water preparing her way.

2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, *blink*. The lightning has gotten frustrating, though the cold she associated with the snow has yet to arrive.

Keihäs watches how the fashionable one taunts the monkey who then proceeds to make short work of the former, breaking her bones though sparing her life. She may have to consider that for later, though glory it will bring her not. She glances away from the fight, the hound has been rather quiet and immobile. Is the snow affecting it? It might, after all ice and fire are opposites. More so than water, because the water enchanter does not seem bothered by the snow in the slightest.

Since the hound is so close to the brawl, attacking it will surely direct the monkey and the water enchanter's attention to her. Speaking of which, where did the assassin go? He couldn't have gotten past the combatants, she surely would've noticed him by now. She surmises he went counter-clockwise, though the purpose of that is beyond her. Then again, if they are locked into battle it might be time to go out with a bang. Keihäs flies up heading to the northern arena entrance.

After passing the Eastern entrance Cole turned a little putting his back facing the wall as well as his pack would allow him. Having the pack over only one shoulder was awkward and cumbersome though the other option was to temporarily disarm himself. In an arena like this, any moment you didn't have a weapon in your hand meant you were a sitting duck.

I wonder what happened to the feline, they charged right between the monkey and the mage. The hound is probably still standing there watching the fray... Hopefully. The spear thrower might be the one to notice I moved.

As the last thought crossed his mind, Cole had been passing the North-Eastern entrance and movement had caught his attention. It was something moving through the air towards the Northern entrance.

Well that answers what the spear thrower is up to. Trying to head me off or getting as far as they can from the brawl as they can as well. Either way this is less than ideal for me.

Sliding his pack off his shoulder and placing up against the wall he grabbed five more bolts and put them and the other spare three he had into his left pocket. Standing back up Cole took aim at the spear thrower and kept a bead on them waiting for a landing.

There is the aggressive action! Though this water is not like the hot springs he is used to. Knowing better, with a small stumble as he prepared himself, he hopped out of the water to the left and in turn out of the way of the shield charge. Shields are wonderful as both weapons and as a wall. Yet this could lead to the over-reliance of a tactic. An unorthodox flank will do. While Stocky may be in the water where she seems to have no trouble of keeping her footing, a blow knocking her down will be good enough. That smaller stature will be a detriment in this case.

At the first moment, he will be at Stocky's right, the next moment, Stocky's blindside, and then the last moment he will be at Stocky's left. Then perhaps a good drop kick shall do. While she will be down, perhaps the best follow-up will to wrestle that shield out of her hand. No more of that lousy defense and over-reliance of ground control!

He's not going to meet the charge, but he'd be a fool too. Lacks the stature and the gear to stop her. A side-step, as she moves inl; the smart choice, of course, since she's no real way to stop herself in time. But it's no nevermind. A wide swing of the hammer will do, aimed for the monkey's chest. She says no words, as her weapon starts its arc; her opponent is swift enough to dodge, most like, and she'll need to be ready for a counter-swing, perhaps a shield bash.

She is, of course, a forge-maiden dwarf. A blow from her hammer, even without the wave behind it, will be no elfin love-tap. Best you dodge, fuzzy, or face sundered ribs.

Oops. Time for a quick change of plans. He held his staff diagonally to quickly catch the hammer by the handle. By the time it was caught, he was pushed back the mighty force it had, unexpectedly. What was in that hammer? Though without thinking, knowing what a proper counter-action would be against his own action, he went along to kick Stocky to push her back. It would not matter if it was against the shield or not, he shall not comply to the attempt of bringing him down via pressure. Depending what happens, he will have to attempt to grab that shield out of Stocky's hand, to help even the certain advantages she had versus what he had.

No dodge, but a block. There's a ringing impact, as staff meets handle, and her shield is moving in when his leg strikes out at her chest. Water meets monkey skin, but the foot is undeterred, making contact with steel and pushing, hard.

She takes a single step back, grunting, her shield blow dropped. He's definitely a strong one, but dwarves are not easily budged. Keep up the pressure, keep up the charge. She looks at his face, catching his eyes, and speaks her word. "Shoot."

The water dart is barely formed before she's moving in again, her left arm thrusting forward, edge of her shield heading for his chest, edge of it's mirror heading for his mouth, and a single dart of water aimed for his eyes.

4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Keihäs glances at the south in midflight, the monkey and the water enchanter are still at it. *blink* She doesn't really care how the fight fares, she doesn't really have the time to take in the scenery for that matter. Just her target. She is counting the strikes, she knows the timing of them as well as she does the speed at which her companion travels through the air. There is no margin for error in this, but the time of landing should be the right moment she planned. As she "lands", her ears pick up the whistling. In a thoughtless flare of emotion which could best be translated as "That blasted assassin!" she throws her spear at the spire and proceeds to make a defensive pirouette. "May the Elemental Lords be impressed or I will die trying." *blink* Her companion flies through just as the lightning hits, acting as a lightning rod gathering its potential and heading straight for the floor between the two combatants on the other side of the arena.

As the spear thrower landed and finished their turning, Cole fired his shot. The sharp sound sung out once more to his ears. His shot was aimed right at the thrower's heart or at least where it should be. Expecting the spinning maneuver from before, Cole was already reloading his bolt before the first one had even made it to the target. Watching the thrower's spear sail through the air in the direction of the other combatants.

Sending a metal spear through an electrical field like that towards a water user. Not a bad strategy but relies too much on the water user actually using water at the moment the spear lands. Not something you can time well and only hope for. Though I wonder why they picked that course of action instead of engaging a more immediate threat. Probably some shallow grab at glory on their part.

"Hmph. There is no glory for the foolish dead." Cole whispered to himself as he took aim at the spear thrower once more. Expecting that spinning move from earlier and was ready for it.

As the spear began descending the lightning leaped from the spear, guided by its path, seeking out probable places to hit. The water coating the granite floor between the monkey and the water enchanter did little to improve the combatants' chances of escaping the lightning's path. The spear splashed down in the puddle at their feet only two seconds after the lightning had already found its way there. Then it bounded off of the floor further south directly at the feet of the skeletal hound.

She felt the arrow pierce her flesh, it ached to be sure but it did not matter. The assassin had aimed for her heart, subsequently the part of her torso which was most protected. She figured he had been rather new at this, because it was common knowledge all wind elves wore armour at this height. She was spinning fervently even as some of her strength was leaving her, she did not regret her choice. She could have risked losing both the shot she had made as well as missing that blasted assassin again. He had evaded her when he hadn't even been aware of her presence, so why would that be any different when he was? The best shot at defeating him would have been to take her spear and ram it through his heart just as he had done her, but she was not good up close. Though probably neither was he. She wondered what he wanted from the Elemental Lords. Probably gold, casually submitting into a tournament without giving it much thought.

She called her companion and it came whistling, she smiled but felt faint. She directed it to go right, counter-clockwise. It would prove a nice distraction, perhaps.

Stupid water. Really not like th- sho-? Oh! Water dart! However, he barely was quick enough to draw the connection before water was spouted around his right eye. Not direct contact, but the bits of water did certainly sting. He had to ignore it for a bit though in order to get out of the way of the sudden charge. He leaped out of the way to the left and then rapidly rubbed his free hand in front of his right eye to rid of any water particles. In retaliation, he went in closer to get a grab in when suddenly a spear sped across his vision. Did Elven Lady try to throw it at either him or Stocky? Did not seem to work yet the most perplexing thing he has even seen was that it bounced off and went directly somewhere he could not decipher. Weirdness everywhere. Though he did not want to look at the spear that just went by for another second for doing so could bring awful injuries and he also rather not have a shield to the face as shield bashes are terrible to begin with.

With a sudden rush of energy, perhaps from annoyance or adrenaline, he raised his staff upward and struck mightily downward at Stocky where it was angled diagonally to grant a possible neck blow. If it was armored, he probably would not be able to tell for he could not think straight on that due to the spear and water dart.

The spire had stopped, the contestants had left, and the arena was silent. Locke stepped through the archway and onto the cold floor. His claws clicked as the dragged along the floor, leaving small scratch marks on the floor. The cloaked figure made it’s way through the small piles of slush, down the steps towards the spire and the sleeping form of Ravinia. He looked down at his old friend. Then, slowly, tentatively, tendrils of smoke poured out from under his cloak. The smoke pooled onto the floor, raced down steps around the piles of slush and ice then carried Ravinia off of the floor propping her legs up and draping her across Locke’s back. He then left the arena through the same door he entered, the smoke racing to catch up with him.

Locke set Ravinia down on his bed, then set about making a crutch for her legs and a cast for her arm. Ravinia’s eyelids fluttered and Locke quickly snapped into place, and perched on foot of the table. Wiping the sweat from his feathered brow, he tried to remember how he acted around Ravinia last. All to superior, and much to ungrateful for what she had don for him. Taking an austere look, he braced himself as Ravinia weezed back to life. Blinking from under heavy eyelids, first with a moan, and then with a grunt Ravinia tried desperately to get up.
“What, .... where am I. Ugh, I can’t move my legs!” She winced.
“They were broken. By a monkey”
“What? Who is that? Who are you?” Ravinia jumped back, hitting her head on the wall, while she blinked, trying to see the figure past the light. “Locke?”
“Indeed.” Locke hopped off of the bed post and on to the floor by the bed. Now out of the light, Ravinia could see him in full detail. His avian body stood upon two spindly legs, long from years of walking, while others flew. His body curved into a disfigured arch, topped by a grotesque face, eyes bulging, and beak tiny. He wore a leather tunic with a oddly familiar amulet draped around his neck. He was an Ori, but not as one should be. These disfigured features now exploded in indignant rage. “What were you thinking?! The Elemental Championships? People die there!” He was gesticulating wildly now. “We did not invest so much for you to just - just -” Locke stopped, realizing what he was saying.
“What? Who invested what in me?” Ravinia questioned.
“Never mind that!” He waved away the question. “You’ll stay with me, just until you're ready, and in return, you’ll help run the stand, and hone your skills. Now get some rest, you’ve had a long day.” He rushed from the room, calling from down the stairs. “I’ll just.. um.. go grab something!”

Ravinia hoisted herself out of bed, and inspected Locke’s work. He’d done a good job with the splint, but the work on the cast was rushed, tied up with a patchwork cloth. Locke’s cloak, draped over the foot of the bed caught her eye. A large black imposing object, with a single eye on the back, the symbol of the deity of balance, Maysha. She found herself asking herself the same thing she had asked of everybody, since she came to Lore, and even before that: Can I trust them? Then, a new question popped into her head, one she had not thought since her first days under Reishi; Why does he trust me?

Locke picked through the piles of nicknacks and rubbish, piled high against the wall of the foyer. Somehow, Locke could never get rid of anything, not without a price. Tired of using one talon, to pick up one piece of junk at a time, he stepped back and opened his shriveled wings wide. Spinnerets of black smoke shot out from under each feather, and began to coalesce into a tangible form. “No Ori could ever master the DeathWind as I have.” Locke gloated. The smoke formed muscles and sinew, making a rudimentary hand, with each finger connected to him by a line of formless smoke. With a few deft movements, the hand picked up a massive amount of the ridiculous trinkets, and threw it to the other side of the room. Locke continued this, the hand moving with a dexterity, and vigor, that no one could ever manage, even if the hand was their own. Each finger moved independently, Locke finally found what he was looking for; a chair, wooden and affixed with wheels, and a curved blade, wickedly sharp.

Ravinia was jolted from her ponderment, by a loud thumping, coming from downstairs. Alerted to possible danger, Ravinia trying to get into an upright position, hit her head on the bed post. Now a large beastlike construct, came up the stairs, walking upon five leg like appendages, made purely from smoke. It beckoned to Ravinia with an it's back to the ground, legs splayed beckoningly. Ravinia grabbed her Bagh-naka, and Locke’s cloak, then dropped of off the bed and into the waiting palm of the hand, which she had now definitely decided it was. The hand then fell back down the stairs, transporting Ravinia at Locke’s feet. He wordlessly showed her the chair, and Ravinia solemnly hoisted herself into it. She knew one thing; she would not be leaving this chair for a long time.
Locke broke the silence that hung through the air. “It’s only temporary.”
“It doesn’t feel that way.”
Locke nodded silently. They fell into silence again. Ravinia clutched Locke’s cloak close to her chest.
“S-sometimes, I feel like I should have stayed with him. R-Reishi, I mean.” She looked up at Locke’s face. “But here, I know nothing.” A single tear streamed down her face. “My life was spices and work and pain, then it was luxury, and jewels, and-and ...him.” At that she broke into uncontrollable sobs, tears pouring from her face and staining the fabric eye with dewy droplets. “Now I’m stuck here, on this miserable planet, and I don’t know anything. I should never have left Reishi.”
Locke couldn’t help it. He broke character, and collapsed, folding his deformed wings around her body. “Don’t say that, don’t say that.” He muttered over and over again. “If you hadn’t left him, I would still be ...there with ...them. And I would rot until my beak turned black, and my feathers faded, and my eyes clouded, and I would still be uglier than the oldest Ori in Satru’s court.” Locke stood up and handed the sword to her. “Kaa S’ satta forged, it had a twin once. Must’ve lost its way. I thought it could find it again with you.” A single tear rolled down Locke’s beak and fell to the floor. Ravinia fell silent, looking up from the blade at this spectacle.
“Locke...”
“Ravinia, you saved my life. The least I can do is save your’s.”
