What's New in Upgrade 30.3

Experience Cap on Higher Levels

A cap of 2 Million on the amount of experience needed per level. In order words,
Level ExpNeeded
98 1138894
99 1252783
100 1378061
101 1515867
102 1667454
103 1834200
104 2000000

We now have some level 113 players! Congrats!

Increased Pet and Guest CHA bonus

Pets and Guests will do even more damage, the higher your player CHARISMA stat is.
For damage, the bonus is about 1 point per 15 points of Charisma.

Interface Update

Try clicking on your character head or monster head potrait while in battle.
Hover your mouse over the head, then click it, then wait a few seconds.
Neat huh?

What's New in Upgrade 30.5

What's New in Upgrade 30.6

* A change was made to the Armor loading engine to keep the game from stalling on the "Loading Default Equipment" part of the login.

If this doesn't help, let us know...

What's New in Upgrade 30.7

* New category of inventory items: "Misc Items" or Accessories.
* All of the precious stone and Azru stone shields have been converted to Misc items.
* New "Items" menu on the attack menu.
* You can only have one item active at a time.
* New sound effect when calling a pet into battle

Right now the Nobu Emerald, Kaga Moonstone, Raaz Sapphire, and Duma Sunstone, don't do anything special when activated.
They just sit there and look pretty. (Well not really, because you can't seem them...)

The Azru Stones have a % damage bonus against Carnax and Leprechauns.

What's New in Upgrade 30.8

* The in-game pop-up Character Profile Sheet now shows your currently equipped Misc Item.

* Your extra gained Health and Mana potions will now stay with you when you logout/login to the game.
Your potion count will only save after you Win a battle.
If you logout with zero potions, then when you login, you'll have 1,2, or 3 of each as a free auto-refill.

The Artix NPC now greets you on the login screen. Twilly got tired and needed a vacation.
(But Twilly still greets you in town... strange, huh?)

What's New in Upgrade 30.91

* Small bug fixes

* The high/medium/low graphics option will just stay where you leave it. It won't change between battles and town.
A future update will let you pick your specific preference for Town and Battle graphic detail levels.

* Some improved cheater prevention code.

What's New in Upgrade 31.0

* Support for Multiple War Counters

We can now have more than one war at the same time, each with its own battle counter.
And yes, the War percentage is real. Each monster battle will count as one "win" against the war your participating against.

Some wars will automatically go to a Boss encounter after reaching 100%.
Other wars might require going to a new quest to battle the Boss monster.

The counters might sometimes go higher than 100%. (Overkill!!)

What's New in Upgrade 32

* Max Level Cap is now Level 130
A little higher than the old cap of 125. The Stat caps will go up soon too.

* Z-Tokens!!!
Before the update everyone received a pile of free Z-Tokens based on character level. (And Guardians and X-Guardians got 200 and 300 extra tokens)
After each battle, there's a random chance of getting a few Z-Tokens.
The higher your character level, the more tokens you can find at one time.
And battling more "challenging" monsters, gives you a greater chance of finding tokens.

* Z-Token Shop
Opening Soon!
Galanoth is working hard to prepare the Z-Token shop, where you'll be able to spend your tokens on amazing new items.
The items are for Guardians and non-Guardians, and will eventually replace the "Special Premium Offer" items.

* Buy Z-Tokens with $$$
Very soon, you'll be able to buy a huge pile of Z-Tokens for real money.
Some of our players have very little time to do enough battles to earn enough tokens, so we're giving a $$$ option.
Or maybe you want to buy the very best Token items now, and collect more tokens for stuff later on.

Coming soon in the next major update:
Inventory Storage Bank!
(a place to keep all the regular, special, rare, and token items you've collected!)

What's New in Upgrade 32.5

Wow... where do I start...

* All of the shops in the game now have a new "Extra Slots" section under your character's Inventory list.
You can buy up to seven extra inventory storage slots for each category of item, at any shop.

The cost is 200 Z-Tokens per slot. (works out to 25 slots for $20 if you buy tokens with cash)
When we add real "houses" to the game later this year, the storage will expand to 7 more slots of each type, depending on how big your house is.

Only your first 8 items in each category are usable in battle, like always.
If you have 9 weapons, the 9th weapon will be "in storage" and not available during battle.

We still have to keep the no-drop items fixed in the top position, but everything after that in the list is sortable.
There are new Up/Down arrows next to the "Sell" button in the Inventory list. Use those to re-arrange your items.

Sorting items can be a bit slow, you have to move items up or down, one at a time.
The screen refreshes each time to make absolutely sure that the list on-screen matches what is in the database.
(this helps make sure nothing gets lost!)

The shop has a special feature, where if you sell an item, and then buy a new item in that same category before leaving the shop, the new item will be in the slot position of the item you just sold. So, you can sell, say, your old fire weapon, and then buy a new one, and the new one will be in the same slot. No need to re-sort everything.

* The Attack menu has a few new skins. Click the diagonal bar to cycle between Attack menu skins.
The menu placement is a little bit higher on the screen, but seems overall better aligned on the screen.
I'll get some better artists to help make more skins in the near future.
(my art skill level is somewhere between "crooked rectangle drawer" and "color blind finger painter"

* The game engine is set to run animations about 8% faster than before.
This will tend to speed up the animations, if your comptuer CPU can keep up.

* The battle loading screen has a short extra delay and says "Ready", after the normal list of items shows as ready.
This is to help make sure all the battle elements are really ready to go.

Minor but important update:

Since the beginning of AQ, each character has a "battle win" counter.

That counter will no longer go up if there is no XP reward for doing a battle.
This mostly affects Level 130 characters which do not receive any XP for battles. (they are "maxxed out")

There are four characters that managed to do more than 200,000 battle wins before this change.
For those characters, I have reduced their win count to exactly 200,000 so that there's no contest as to who the previous "winner" was.

The reason for this change, was that certain players were doing battles quick mindless battles over and over, just to have the highest win count.
Remember that each battle save uses up AQ server bandwidth and game database processing time.
Mindless battles, even when not using cheat macros, is a waste of resources.

It's like going to a restaurant, and seeing how many napkins you can spoil and toss in the trash.

Small Update to the Random Encounter Monster system:

Sometimes, instead of running into a lower-level pack monster, you'll meet an "uber" version of one of those monsters.

The name of the monster will look like "Frogzard (+20)"

These monsters will be 20 levels higher than they normally are, have scaled stats, defenses, and rewards.

The scaling isn't perfect, but will likely add something interesting to the game play.

What's new in Upgrade 32.53

This is a list of things that were tested on the Guardian server, but removed in version 32.6

* Player attack weapon specials that in the past did not include the player's stat bonuses will now do 25% of the players stat bonus.
* Monsters have been boosted slightly to use 110% of their stat bonus in calculating damage and to-hit percentage.

EDIT: Version 32.60 does not have these stat boosts.

What's new in Upgrade 32.60

If you are still logged into the old version, and you want to try the new version, refresh your browser.

-- Browser Close Prompt --
The browser "are you sure you want to navigate away from this page" prompt has been rigged to only prompt when you are logged into the game.

-- Small Change to Combat system --
Future weapons, spells, guests, pets, monsters might use more or less stat bonus %.
This will also allow some interesting new buffs and nerfs to existing items that are out of balance because of stat bonuses.

-- Housing System --
Player houses are almost ready! This version has some groundwork coding to support houses.
They will be released within the next week.

-- New character creation system --
* Players can pick their face from Warlic's magic mirror when first creating a new character.

* New characters will start as one of the three base classes: Fighter, Mage, or Rogue
* They will each start with different sets of no-drop weapon/armors and one extra droppable item.

* All of the new no-drop items will still turn into Guardian Plate/Sword when upgrading to Guardian
(maybe next year we'll add "Guardian Leather","Guardian Robes","Guardian Staff", and "Guardian Dagger")

* They do not start with their official "Class Armor". Still have to buy that at the class trainer shops.

* Each class starts with 10 points already assigned to a stat. This means that they can't use the trainer until level three.

New Character Starting Equipment:

- Longsword
- Steel Plate
- Wooden Shield
- 10 STR

- Wooden Staff
- Cloth Robes
- Lightning Spell
- 10 INT

- Short Sword
- Leather Armor
- Crossbow
- 10 DEX

What's new in Upgrade 32.65

* AQ will now work correctly on the Nintendo Wii Web Browser!
It probably also now works on other hand held browsers that use Opera and Flash

* Small changes to the new character screens. Nothing too exciting.

* When you login, every 10 times, a display will show how many total times you've logged in.

What's new in Upgrade 33

* The login screen "you have logged in X # of times" message has been removed. It was causing too much confusion on the forums.

* Monster profile shows primary attack element of the monster. The monster's "base" element.
Some monsters might seem labeled incorrectly. This is sometimes a bug, but most of the time, it is for Role Playing reasons.

* The main game engine will now dynamically replace the Player and Monster damage hit display with the new element icons.
Sometimes, you'll see the old display very briefly before the new one is shown. No way to fix that yet.

* The token sell back price of Houses has been changed.
The initial sell back price is 90% of the original buying price.
The value of the house will increase by 5% of its original buying price each week, starting from when you first bought it.
So, the sell back price of your house will be double its original value after 22 weeks! A great way to get tokens for buying the next larger house.

* New feature in all the shops: Convert Z-Tokens to Gold
To use this, go to any shop, click the Inventory button.
Then highlight the line where it shows the number of tokens you have in your inventory.
A new button appears for directly converting tokens to gold. The exchange rate is 200 tokens for 3000 gold.

* The shop feature where you can sell Z-Token Items for gold has be removed.
The direct conversion exchange rate is better anyway, and this will prevent a lot of clutter in the database from people buying dozens of token items, just to sell them for gold.

Update: I forgot about this important new shop system update:

The sell back prices for Z-Token items has changed.

Old system:
Sell within 24 hours = 90%
Sell within 7 days = 50%
Then 25%

New system:
Sell within 48 hours = 90%
After that = 50%

Shop Update:
You'll need to Logout/Login to view the new shop system.

* You can no longer sell Z-Token items for gold. All items purchased with Z-Tokens will refund in tokens when sold.

* When viewing the Buy Weapon list in any shop, a picture of the weapon will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

* When viewing the Buy Paintings list in any shop, the painting will be displayed below the description of the painting.

* The number of buyable extra slots has increased to 10 of each equipment category.

* Larger Houses, starting with the Log Cabin will include 1 free extra storage slot of every equipment type, and also add 5 more house item slots.
(Log Cabin coming soon!!!)

What's new in Upgrade 33.1

* When freezing a monster, the text "Frozen!" will appear below the monster's HP/MP display.
This will make is easier to tell for sure that the monster is frozen.

* Other status effects, like the new paralyze effect caused by the new Cupid pet will also be displayed.

* Monsters will now tell you if they are totally immune to freezing. (same monsters as before this update)

* High Endurance monsters can now resist the freeze attack. ("saving throw")
END of 0 has 0% chance of resisting.
END of 50 has a 12.5% chance
END of 100 has 25% chance
END of 200 has 50% chance

* Monsters can also resist paralyze attacks, based on their Endurance.

* New potion drinking formulas! More healing!
Drink Health Potion:
HP Points recovered = Level/3 + 50 + Random(50) + Random(LUK/2) + Random(END/2)

Drink Mana Potion:
MP Points recovered = Level/3 + 50 + Random(50) + Random(LUK/2) + Random(INT/2)

What's new in Upgrade 33.22

* Bug fix for the hair/skin/eye color of Neighbors. EDIT: some faces might still not work. *urgh*

* The Player and Monster profile display during battles now shows "XP" instead of "EXP". This is to better match the XP bar caption at the bottom area.
"XP" is also a more general term, and we won't need to change it when we do other language versions of the game!

* The Monster XP now shows the base amount of the monster's XP reward, and does not show the 10% boost that X-Guardian's get.
The battle win scroll still shows the added 10% XP

* Warlic's face mirror has four more eye colors added:
Bright Blue, Orange, Purple, and Frost

* Probably some other minor stuff that I've forgotten...

What's new in Upgrade 33.3

* It's a cool looking version number! Isn't that enough of an update? :)

* New options screen. It has more room to add more options as we need them.
There's also a new battle frame rate counter. It's mostly for testing really laggy backgrounds and monsters.

* A few more anti-cheating stuff here and there. Mostly caps on the total amount of damage you can do in a battle.
