C4D stands for Maxon Cinema 4D. Were actually talking about a render made in that program. They can be downloaded in alot of places.

Oh, ok.

I used a combination of Dodge and Lighten Only, just using whichever looked better.

It relates to this week's theme, so theoretically, I could use this in the SotW...

I'm new to the whoole shortening of GIMP users, so what does c4d mean?
I am no newbie to GIMP itself though...

Look at page 1 and 2 to find out what C4D means.
I have been looking at this tut for ages but I haven't been bothered to do it yet.

C4D = Cinema 4D

usually its a slang term for a c4d render, which you can find easily. checking the resource section would probably be a good way to start looking.

Wow...I looked at the first at the first few replies and I thought, "What? This all happened today?" then I found out it was at 2006.

I'll try to do this in GIMP (don't know how to make photo filters or apply image effect in GIMP)

photo filters are the same thing as gradient maps i think.

To do a Photofilter in GIMP, make a new layer and fill it with a color, then change the layer's Blending Modes and Opacity.

For Apply Image, go to Edit >> Copy Visible, then paste it on a new layer.
