I have seen EpicDuel through it's best and worst, but Omega is lacking, we all know. I know exactly why, I please beg the Moderators not to delete this post and encourage the Devs to read it please.

This was taken out of a GameInformer Interview with the producer of Diablo III,

quote:

The thing I found with those communities, is that they have a lot more trust in you if they feel you are one of them. So the thing I’ve always tried to do is make sure I’m as honest as I can possibly be with anyone I communicate with. Talk to people about why you’re making the decisions you’re making. If you explain it to them and they don’t agree, then make sure you listen to them. It doesn’t mean that their view point is right, but if you don’t give it the chance to hear it out, then you don’t give yourself the chance to be wrong.

I encourage the Devs, specifically Titan, Nightwraith and Rabble, to take into consideration these words. The reason why so many of us complain all the time is because you simply do not play the game so you don't have a clue what we would like from your game.

don't get me wrong, this isn't a thread to bash the Devs, I completely respect them and everything they have made ED into, it's a great game. Probably one of the, if not the best PvP MMORPG on the web currently, but I know the Devs never actually take time to sit down and play the game they have created. And they never get on the forums and look at the Suggestions, I believe this game would do a whole lot better if this happened.

I love this game and its developers, I just don't want to see the game go downhill.

daww, it didn't mention mez T_T

With that being said. I completely see where you are coming from. I too wish we were more active with our players. Its really comes down to building up more of a awesome PR presence, which we have been making more of an effort with twitter.
The forums in its current state, for several reasons are probably not the best means for this atm.

Charfade, I appreciate everything you do too, your art is unbelievable.

But I understand you Devs are very busy, but it would be appreciative of the Mods/Devs to sit down and play maybe a few times a week instead of on Private servers all the time. Just like an hour or two no more.

But thank you for replying and taking time to read this Charfade, really means a lot. I would just appreciate it if you, Titan, NW, rabble and everyone else to consider these.

Thank you so much for this wonderful game.

Legendary AK!!!

@actual They play a lot, just not on their fancy colored name accounts. I know several DNs have been posted showing pics of alts and they appear to all have several different accounts. The next guy you might fight could actually be Titan in disguise and you wouldn't ever know it.

Charfade, I personally find that dev/player communication is hardly possible at this stage, Due to devs being worked overtime, and way to many players posting random things for them all to b responded to, I just think that devs should certainly try and get on the forums at least 4 hours a week, that would be a good start, and all that's really required anyway, The fact that posts like this still exist.... Some players think that the devs are currently redundant, i would have to disagree, The mere fact that all the new updates are so good, and there is a very small team to get these realeases out properly, on time, and up to par. I think you are all doing a very good job under the circumstances! Keep it up.

Xamurai, I agree with you completely. This was my main goal for the Devs to look at the forums (particularly the suggestions) and take into consideration with what players have to say. I know all the Devs work their butts off making this game, especially staying up until 3 a.m. releasing an update. But, maybe occasionally they could, on their time off, maybe glance at the forums.

Mallet, I am sorry, I apologize. I didn't know that the Devs played on their alts too often.

To all mods and devs, I respect and appreciate everything you guys do with people hammering you all the time for what you've done wrong. I made this to not be a dev bashing forum, and meant no time to be taken up from you guys to read it thoroughly. I believe reading the Suggestions would be better of than being on Twitter with all of the complaining people yelling for more prize codes and such, haha.

Thank you for your guy's time.

It is true what ND Mallet said. We all play on our alts. I only get on my charfade account only when special events happen. But to really test and see how things go with out the interferences of "OH LOOK A DEV " BATTLE ME" and a thousand other questions we have to play in incognito mode. It gives us a better look on how the game is actually played. I hop on and play on weekends/night during what free time I have. Pretty regularly Sat and Sun mornings EST around powerhour. The other Dev's have their own schedule.

As for the suggestions, bugs etc. We have a ton of forums saved that we purge though. But I find it better not to comment unless I can really add to the discussion or answer a question. Sometimes I purposely wont comment so I can see how the conversation can develop with out DEV interaction. I can't tell you how many times I've commented on something and then it gets taken way out of context, or the focus of a DEV in the thread halts any progress in the discussion.

Absolutely suggestions are better on the forums, the same with bugs and asking a detailed question on the Q&A. But as far as getting information to you out fast, being current with what we are doing, we've been using Twitter for this. You'll have a better time getting to know us more , getting questions answered faster etc. If it requires more details then I ask that this might be best suited as a forum post.

So, forums are a platform for you to discuss, debate, post information for bugs, and suggestions. Which we do look at pretty regularly. If you want more of a Dev presence/interaction, with our staff size and availability, I really recommend twitter.

I can say this is definitely true, after looking at a bunch of fangames based off of a big franchise-name. Most of the staff are appointed through people who are either friends of the GM(s) or who play a lot and are quite associated with the community. This is one of the main reasons why fangames are so popular nowadays. I'm actually the mod of a fangame I joined, and in 2 years of constant playing I became the 3rd moderator of it, and everyone honestly tells me that it's great to have staff members who are like bridges, people who link the developers who don't get on to play as much as the players do because they're busy, to the players who don't really have a chance to associate with the developers even though they play the game a lot.

All I can say is that if you could, You should try and get more of these people. I understand the moderators who you assign every so often are actually from the community, but I don't see them online too much, and they're often quite busy being swarmed by people complaining about this or that.

I wish this was the type of place where we dont have the feeling of our posts being deleted.

It's really nice to see Charfade post on the forums. I've been seeing her online a lot lately. :)

On another note, when it comes to devs and mods playing on their alts, I wonder if I'm friends with any of them. Lol. You guys should hang out with us at Oz every once in a while on your incognito accounts. I think it would be funny to see you guys trying to fit in. I can only imagine the conversations lol.

*Titan goes on his alt*
"What do you guys think of ED? Its one of my favorite games!"

Player
"It's not too bad I guess"

Titan Incognito mode
*Bans him for saying Not too bad.*

I'd get a kick out of that. And on a sidenote, I'm fairly certain I befriended a mods alt on my own alt.Not gonna give names. :P

I accused him of it and he wouldnt reply. But he added me. :P

This is how we should all post.
