We did some reformatting of the forum help boards, specifically what used to be Newbie Help, Forum Issues, IRC Help and Crucial Forum Information.

The important contents of each of these forums will be moved to the appropriate board here. If you have any questions or find any mistakes with the current forum, or feel something was left out, please post here.

It looks great. But, where's the Newbie Section? The Introduction Thread, Questions for Mod (not for in-game issues)? Aren't they needed?

Newbie Help was removed because it was discouraging the use of the regular Q&A forums I believe. An introduction thread can be found in the OOC board, and you can use the Forum Support board for posting questions about the forum so there's no need for the "Direct to Mod Questions" thread.

Haha, i was just about to suggest that "Forum issues" should be something different.

Edit: I just went for newbie help T.T gotta get used to this...

but I do believe that Crucial Information should be at the top, not bottom (seeing how it is crucial )

Just to let you guys know, the 'New Player Help' should be removed, as the Newbie section is denied. Also, wouldn't it be best to replace it with WF?

Pic (incase you guys don't know what I'm talking about):

I miss the old Newbie... At least it much better if mod can add the link to Q&A at easy to see place for newbie.
Oh well, I think this change also make forum cleaner

I think this fomat will work much better. :)

Especially as all newbie Help and Forum Issues ArchKnights can now work on all Boards. ;D

The Polls were removed some time ago, due to a spam increase there.

Anyone noticed a new Forum title? ---> Speculative <---

Or am I just losing it... :O

Edit: I see, thanks Clyde, for the clarification. You too, Valane. :)

Actually no. Speculative was a title I suggested to Falerin for people who are active in the Speculations and Theories forum. I believe eerie2 was the first one to receive it and she has had it for a week or two now. :P

Also I think this thread is for discussing the recent forum changes and posting any mistakes you have noticed within the changes. So lets please keep it on topic.

Constructive

I think Intro would be better seen if it were actually up closer to the top; I remember not even scrolling down past half-way to see the OOC.

I just personally think that it would be a better welcome to new members if they open the page and BAM! oh, there's a group of people waiting to welcome me! It would just seem more noticable than some topic in the OOC (which actually takes time to find), IMO.

Glad to find this... things did seem different! Sad to see NH go poof; we had a good run, at least. :P It'll be interesting to see what all the recent changes will do to activity, as they've by and large cut down on spam-ish (or relaxed, like NH) forums that some people used exclusively. I imagine a lot of them will come around less, but maybe the answer is that we didn't really want their activity too much anyway!

In answer to your concern, zeke (which is a legitimate one), that is probably already be taken care of, or at least can be pretty easily. It's been a while since I made my account, but I believe that all new members are sent a PM with a link to all the rules, etc. The staff can (and might now) simply include a note about checking out the OOC and the Intro Thread in there. Reading over those last three sentences, I realize they're terribly worded and confusing, but it's late. Hopefully they make sense. XD

Suggestion/plea: is there any way the FI threads could be made available again to public access? I'm assuming they haven't been deleted because my post count hasn't taken a significant hit, so they're probably just sitting in a hidden FI, and it'd be great to have access to the wealth of info in those threads. It'd be a pain to move all the threads over into a current forum, but would it be possible to make FI read-only, tucked away somewhere? I think many would agree that they're a huge help in answering questions/suggestions without the staff having to get involved, so it'd be a win-win. I'll move this into the "Forum Suggestions" area if that'd be a better place for it.

Wow. I was definitely surprised by this. Though I think it would be better to properly announce it. I seriously didn't know that this had happened and I thought my laptop was lagging up again
