basically what i mean is that should they either add more high level seasonal weapons every year or buff up some items? because every easter, april fools, st. patrik's, valentine's and christmas weapons are always low level and i would like to buy seasonal weapons but this is keeping any lvl 34 or 35s from getting it. and yes i know they release seasonal promos when they have the time. but don't you think that having higher lvl seasonal rares would be nice?

im leavin to you guys to discuss

Does creating new seasonal imply less
time for features?

Does new seasonal each year imply old sesaonal rares will not come back?

Does new weapons imply older weapons will get outdated faster?
( is it hard to read this?)

No, or they won't be called seasonal rares, and just be called rares.

I think this is an interesting topic, although I think it needs to be looked at from a bigger perspective. People would probably want new weapons every year, aside from the usual returning (low leveled) ones, so I dug up the specific examples you used in your earlier post and took a look at the releases around the time in more detail to see what actually happened at the time. Most of the links are going to the event pages, for seasonal events refer to the latest year, rightmost tab.

St. Patrick's Day/Easter/April Fools (they happen at pretty much the same time)

It seems the 3 events were a bit overlapped with the Bionic Batallion Saga (not 100% sure if this was the Easter event?) which started at about March, about the time St. Patrick's was released, and ended a month later after April Fools. I personally was not here when this event occurred (I think I made it right before the stuff left for the Bionic Event. Last April Fool's and St. Patrick's Day nothing was really added, but there were a couple of weapons that came up with the Easter Rares.

Valentine's Day

As far as I can tell, the Heartbreaker Saga ties in as the ED Birthday event, and this year's was huge. I don't mean this necessarily with equipment only but with the event as a whole. It seems this was the time the Fryste War ended as well.

Christmas ( Recurring, War)

This event is probably the largest event everyone looks forward to annually. Last year's had the War event tied in with it, which released a ton of equipment, weapons and some new features brought to the game as a whole for features you see today, the EbilCorp War Bar being an example.

Buffing items is not an option, and most of that is covered over here. I won't go into detail but if you recall, there was a reason as to why the Dragon Buster wasn't buffed back in the DragonCon event. This also gives the opportunity for lower leveled players to purchase/get something out of the event.

The Livestream event last weekend hinted on a new content for this Halloween season:

quote:

Q: Will the Hazard Husk return?
A: It's tagged as rare, so it's not coming up. Something else will be equally enjoyable during the Halloween time.

Lastly, we do have non-seasonal (sometimes war) events that bring in level cap items, the Infernal War and Dragonoid Saga are fresh and good examples of this. A lot of the weapons/armors available from the the latter can still be seen in Char's Shop, while you can take a look at the amount of weapons released for the Infernal War here.

Overall I think that weapons and equipment would be one component of an event, undoubtedly the most noticed one, but I think looking at the event as a whole is helpful to see what was actually released, at the same time it could be a new and awesome feature you're using today. At the same time, if no new weapons are released, you can only expect other surprise special and non-recurring events to offset those weapons that you may be looking for.

@FinalSin,

Rare by itself in EpicDuel means that it is gone forever, limited and seasonal plus rare means that it returns.

Ultra-rare means rare but just with more points.

@SMGS some of them are true i just hope they will add more lvl 35 seasonal rares during christmas. and the charbinger and dravax items are limited rares i think.
and also because the promos are limited weapon/armor types i really want a physical high level weapon that is seasonal and the charbinger item stats just doesn't suit my current build and skill tree and plus i like more winter themed items so if they are too busy to come up with them i will just make many winter weapon suggestions for the suggestion shop.

^Well, that's what we're all hoping for! :) I'm personally looking forward to these big backend changes planned over the 2 months, with some awesome feature to hopefully come out of it during the Christmas season. So yes, maybe we will get some weapons, but most of the time you remember an event for something out of the ordinary that comes out with it.

Just took a look at Char and everything except the credit versions of the Armors and the Phys. Charbinger Claws are still available, which is likely because a lot of people held on to their non-limited rare equipment from the Infernal War, which if you remember, happened only shortly before the Dragonoid Saga began. So we've been getting a steady stream of weapons without the holiday season (December all the way to April Fools) even arriving yet.

@Below - Yes, can't forget that Suggestion Shop that's coming out, even if it isn't necessarily a rare set of weapons, it'll likely be the first wave of non-rare capped weapons!

@Below again - That's something I don't know and only the devs would. Soon, hopefully? :P

@SMGS im good at making armors/weapons etc so i will hopefully make many suggestion items for these seasons. so it will save time for the staff to put their mind into features since they dont need to think much about weapon making.

@above so when will the suggestion picking end and when will the suggestion shop go live exactly? and if you dont mind locking this thread after you answer because i think you have made it clear for me and others.

Locking at request. -- SMGS

Seasonal rares should return. However, I think that a completely new set of items should not be made - a few of the former ones should be re-boosted, so players will not have to spend and buy more just to keep up..
