reading on the forums players are talking about copying builds, nerfs,op builds, etc etc. well in this game it is going to happen that is a fact ed has layed the format out for this game.

well ever think of when players click on to see the other players stats on their icon, block the skill tree and just show the players stats and and amore, class, and weapons.

not their skill tree could this help stop the copying scare. when a player makes a build it is his build most of the time why not try to keep it his build and hide the rest of his or hers skill tree.

if the player wants to tell his faction friends the build fine or pm friends he could.

the skill tree in this game is the holy cow of the build right. so why not keep it hidden if you want to. l see tms builds the same build 0ver 50 times a day or more, bhs and chs builds the same thing.

hide the skill tree and makes players work for the win. when you have a free look at the others players weakness in the game it is kinda easy to fight the other player weakness. it true 1v1 pvp and 2v2 or even jugg battles it should not be able to look at it, in true pvp games.

after you have played enough of str. and support, smoke builds you can see how they play, and to beat the build.

l think hide the skill tree once and then see how the battles go. they hide the skill tree of the bosses why not the players tree.

Hiding the skill tree would make no difference as you would quickly figure out what skills they were using by there stats.

well maybe not 1st of all the skill shows effects of the number of points you put in to each skill right. if the skill tree is hidden you can tell me how many pts l have put in to each skill you cannot tell me . not going to happen sorry no way to know how many in health or over load, for my damg no way, 1 pt in overload can stun you and damg can be from 100 to 500 if l cirt you( so it would help). no way in the game if skill tree was hide if l or some one else played you could you tell me my skill tree pts. not going to happen. so when you play a bh or ch using claws you can tell their skill if you could not see it no way. not all chs or bhs use mass, for a attack when they use claws, tms when they use a staff they do not use overload or rain even if their dex is high. with the tree hidden it would make the other player think how to beat them. not looking at the weakness of the other player.

all l am saying why give it a try. they have nerf, taken away skills damg. added skill damg, added skill def and reist, and so far it is a catch 22 in the game why not hide skill tree.

like l said these are my thoughts on this

This blatantly pushes luck to the absolute maximum as the game no longer is about working around your opponents strategy, but about either killing them as fast as possible, or guessing their skills.

You see a tm with extreme dex probably going to have overload and or multi assimilate back up low matrix and technician
strengh tm will have bludgeon malf assimilate back up a moderate matrix and technician .

Both will have field medic mid - high level... . I could go on with the limited builds working its not hard to figure out by someones stats what skills there using.

The only time it could be a little more difficult is a focus build.

I'm tired of seeing hiding skills/stats as a suggestion to improve balance/limit build copying. Blind battles won't solve anything and could lead to potentially more problems. Strength builds could run rampant with this because you won't know if draining energy is a viable option or not. Let's just remove the ability to see our opponent's health and energy while we're at it <.<

As for the build copying, believe it or not, it really isn't that hard to think up of some of the popular builds on one's own. Sure only a certain few have to foresight to add tweaks to make the build even more viable but I'd imagine ANYONE can see Tech Mage's strengths just by looking at its skill tree...

This is very true. I came back to this game not long ago, and the build i immediately made was the bludgeon build without knowing that it was the most popular build until i started fighting a bunch of other people with the same build.

this what l am saying when you made your bludgen build it worked well . just think if the tree was hidden , remb you made this build you worked on it and it worked great. if they could not of seen the skill tree and the some what changes you made as you played it . guess what you could still have it and could still work for you. remb you built it by yourselve you did not copy it.

so why then ok make it a choice for players put a cost on by not showning it showing skill tree by either varium or credits if not you can show the tree, l bet coyping builds would be more and more less showing up like down to the tee of some ones else build
remb the skill tree makes the build. stats do play some effect but the tree is the soul of the build.

^I think you missed the point: ANYONE can figure out how to make these so-called "flavor of the week" builds. It's not too hard to see how Tech Mage has the BEST synergy in its skills. I don't understand why some people have such an ego that they think, "Gee, only I could have possibly ever dreamed up this build." Build-copying isn't an issue, an overall lack of variety is. To say that everyone is using the EXACT same build due to copying is an exaggeration. What I see are many variations of the same TYPE of build.

Besides, this is just another one of those suggestions that aren't well thought out that will result in more complaining if it's ever implemented.

Me making my own build has absolutely nothing to do with me looking at other players builds to determine the correct strategy and turn order, and predicting what they will do and when they will do it.
That's a totally off-topic point that you're attempting to use for your side of the debate, but it has no real association with the topic at hand.

My point actually goes AGAINST yours, because it shows that build copying is really not as damaging to the game as you think it is, because builds are really not that hard to make on one's own, and players that copy builds and can't make them are likely to use them ineffectively anyway.
By the time they learn how to use the build to its maximum potential, that knowledge will give them the capability to make their own builds in the future. If they choose not to, that is just them underestimating their own intellect.

This suggestion might have a significant effect if we had say... 300 skills, but with small trees and prerequisite skills, you can extrapolate what build is being used after 1 or 2 skills.
