Introduction-
Many people get scammed or hacked, if you follow the precautions in this guide then your account should be secure and you won't need to worry about hackers or scammers. Some of these things may seem obvious to you, but people are hacked almost everyday in Epicduel. This guide will cover the various ways in which you can protect your account from being hacked or scammed, what to do if you're hacked and information about the rules.
You may be curious, what's the difference between being hacked and scammed? Scamming usually involves the user being offered something free (such as varium or another account) in exchange for giving out their details. Account trading is against the rules anyway. In contrast to this, when a player is hacked, they usually don't give out their details. The hacker may use a third-party software to compromise the account, or the player's details may be leaked or exposed in some other manner.

Creating your account-
1) Creating an account is fairly simple now, if you follow the steps outlined by the game. Choose a class which appeals to you, a name that appeals to you and customise your colours to your liking. Remember to use an email that you have access to. A lot of players assume that their account will never be compromised and then use a random email. Without a valid email, it will be hard to retrieve your account in an emergency situation.
2) Your password needs to be secure. So, make sure that it's completely unrelated to your in-game name. Use two random words followed by a number with at least 4 digits. Both words should have nothing to do with each other, and the number you use for your password should be different to the one that you used for your in-game name. If your in-game name does not include a number, then any combination of numbers is acceptable for the password. Here is an example of a secure password:
chocolateipod2850
If you follow these steps, your account should be secure. The rest comes down to individual discretion. Remember never to share your username or password with anyone. Not even close friends or family.

Scammers-
No mods or admins will ever ask for your account information. Anyone who attempts to impersonate a mod in order to scam you or for any other reason should be reported. A player can be reported using the in-game report function. Remember to include a valid reason and explain clearly what the person has done. Allowing another person to access your account and buy you varium is against the rules. No one may access an account that does not belong to them. If someone requires your username and/or password in order to buy you varium, then it's most likely a scammer. Not only would they be breaking the rules, this is most likely a ploy to compromise your account. Many people fall for this if the person seems or acts trustworthy. Do NOT accept varium from anyone unless it is from an upgrade card of some sort.

In case you're hacked-
If you do get hacked, then you don't need to worry! You can get your account back. Here's a list of handy links for help:

Remember to be polite and honest when emailing the AE team. The help team consists of real people, who want to help and understand your situation. They do not tolerate being abused though.

Rules-
Read the Epicduel Rules, Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and the Epicduel Terms and Conditions for a detailed summary of rules and entitlements afforded to players. The AE Rules also provide a succinct summation of players' rights and responsibilities.

Securing your account-
There are several methods that a hacker can use to get your information, but just like they have methods to gain access to your accounts, there are methods for you to protect your account. One of the most common ways that hackers gain access to your account is through an unsecured network, such as public networks.
There is a reason why it is called an unsecured network. Anyone on that network can view information sent from your client to servers. It would also be the same as if someone invited you to their house to play EpicDuel with them; as soon as they grant you access to their network, that person who invited you would also be able to see the information that is sent from your client to other servers. If you truly trust your friends and you know each other well, don't get paranoid over that fact that, if they wanted to, they could view the data sent from your client to other servers. Most friends would not do such an obnoxious thing.
Also most of these so called game trainers are actual key loggers, meaning that if it asks you for your username and password, that information would most likely be sent to the developer of that so called "trainer''. Note that if your information is obtained because you had a key logger on your computer, it is actually your fault due to the fact that you knowingly downloaded it, despite the obvious risks of doing so. Some tips for those who want to have a secured EpicDuel Account:
Play on your own secured network
Use a very tricky password
Don't download any so called trainers
Scan the files you download as they could be malicious programs that track your key strokes, or even give them access to your computer.
Tip from cyberbakio ryugan- another way to prevent your account from being hacked is not to give the username of your Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media accounts since they can get your email address, hack it and take out all of the information you have on it, and a way to prevent it is to have another email address made for your game accounts, separate from your social networks.
Tip from Wind- it is also best to keep your username and transaction IDs safe. If a hacker has that information he can use it to keep resetting your password.
*These aren't the only way hackers could gain access to your accounts, but the most common ways.
