I think maybe they should be implemented again. Idk.

They're some weapons out there that give huge bounses, like a burst of strength. Maybe those weapons should give a deduction of support?

Remember those days in Beta?


What would benefit if we had negative-giving weapons again? Would there be more balance?


Think about it:

1. You want to pile stuff on support.
2. You will be deducted points on dex and tech.

Sounds like a great idea, yea there would be a bit more balance in the game.

But I doubt they would implement it again since they would have to go through all the coding of every weapon in-game and set a fair amount of deduction points to it.

But also I personally think players will just find a way out of this, let's use a strength merc for an example; The merc will only purchase weapons that deduct tech(or any stat he/she doesn't necessarily need) therefore the merc still having its strength build perfectly fine just his/her resistance(dex/support) a lot lower.

I mean I could be wrong, but I was just sharing my thoughts.

^ True. Also with enhancements, I guess it could counter the negative stats. But better than increasing on top of gains from the weapons.

The problem with what you are saying is that in order for a maul to have -tech stat modifier it would have more in another stat. Let's take Cyber Shillelagh. That maul has 7+ strength, 10+ dexterity and 8+ technology. If you want it to have a negative stat, for example 3- tech, it will have 28+ modifiers and 3- modifiers.

they removed it cuz it was a stupid idea and made no sense and all that weapons that had negative mods they adjusted the other mods.

I support this. With this feature the game will go back to being BALANCED!

Imagine if the higher your strength got the more negative you got in Dex. Meaning more strength more chance to block. That would solve alot of problems.

@voidance That already happens for strength builds. The ones with more extreme strength tend to have lower dex and vice versa due to amount of stat points.

Agility was its successor if you had high hp.

Negative stats returning would just encourage more extreme builds with greater flexibility in their unused stats, especially if we start seeing level 32 weapons with some negative stats. A strength Merc or BH could use any weapon with negative Support to their advantage. The same is true with any other builds that largely ignore one stat.

Look at this way, right now there are weapons with +8 Strength, Dexterity and Technology (+24 total). With negative stats, the stat distribution could possibly be +9 Strength, Dex and Technology and -6 Support (+21 total). Someone that's focusing on a Strength build won't care about losing that support (and vice-versa for Support builds). They'd basically be able to gain "free" stats thanks to the negative support. There a big potential to make a lot of balance problems with this.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the return of negative stat boosts. It was an interesting concept and brought some variety to equipment, but at this point I think special stats like +crit or +connect have come to replace that gap.
