the reason why ed should go for Steam option is this picture below :

http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag428/NovaHamade/Screenshot_1_zpsaduksfw3.jpg

this will not only benefit ed but will also be a huge publicity for it those number u saw in the picture are only from one game (dota 2) ed could be like that if u put a little bit more effort to it.

@Shadow
That would be a good idea for an Epic Duel 2 that's cross platform with mobile and PC.

Problem with this ED on steam is that they'd get ravaged on steam reviews.
Players wont bother with games with really negative reviews when there's a large catalog of other games they can play.

If they actually go over what's best for ED while thinking about the long term effects, then they will get good reviews.

@Cyber
Can you expand?

I'm sure they thought Omega was best for ED when they were working on it.
Just like they probably thought the same with many other undesirable updates through out the years.

Maybe if it was an epic duel 2.0 that was rebuilt for PC use and maybe mobile use and using another game engine/software other then flash I'd be on board with that but with the current way epicduel stands I don't think it would make much of a difference even if it did get ported to steam.

@gs1 well true that what u mentions but my idea is that the game get discovered by people i mean look now when u login lol 100 - 300 people online sometimes less than 100 , my idea is that if they promote a good publicity for epicduel it will gain success for sure cause there are a lot of people that would love to play new games and let's say what if 1 % of those who try it likes it ! that would be good cause 1 % of 12 million + servers can make a huge player base talking about 12000 + players and so on. with publicity and dedication for something it will succeed no matter what , sure the first few months maybe a year would be hard but am talking about the long term here.

@Shadow
They'd have to make a really good quality game for it to last long term on steam.

I have not played Dota 2 or CS:GO, or any other major popular F2P steam game, But i'd imagine they're good considering the amount of fame and gathering they get.

Not sure how putting a game up on steam works, but do they charge the developers to let them upload the game?
If you think about it, putting anything on steam is HUGE exposure for indie developers.

This article was written by the project lead of the game so take what is said with a gain of salt but this is a good read for the people who think steam is a magic popularity booster

^ that's the result of a game but it's not ED as u GS1 and OWA read what i wrote carefully u will notice that iv'e said that it might be helpful ! might don't mean certain. am just promoting an idea here and accepting feedback but please read carefully before posting and article about the fall of gravity... to much to ask ? i request u OWA to stay on topic of ED not any other game . cause u never know what happens it might be a huge hit there it might not, it's up to the developers and their brains and the use of it ^^

Let me reword what I say, don't wanna make it seem like im attack anyone.

If we actually take the time to suggest ideas and consider how players will react and point out the positive and negative effects of whatever is changed while decreasing the chance of the change having an negative effect, then ED would get good reviews.

Yes, THEY thought that. I'm sure many other players did to, but some of us disagreed with the changes that we KNEW were coming. You can't release something that players aren't going to be happy with, especially with a small player base. Every change that goes into ED or whatever is up for discussion, players should know about it so we can give them feedback before it is released. You can't determine what effect it will have on the game by having a small team of testers.

How have things been looking lately? Bad? Why? Because of flash? No. Then why? Why would they get ravaged on steam reviews? Is it because the devs lack consideration when releasing updates? What can ED do to get good reviews on Steam or in general? Find out what the players want, then release it. It may seem simple. But it's probably not. Alot of ideas that are suggested are usually shot down due to flash limitations. Is there a way to rework ideas so that they aren't in the category of flash limitations?

I Agree with that, that they need to upfront about changes when the active player base is (Was) a couple thousand.

I, along with many other knowledgeable players (Whose names escape me, but you were probably around before and during Omega update) were criticizing the devs decision on a lot of stuff.
The result was that we got shut down (not thread locked, but heavily disagreed against) by supposed testers, AKs, mods and overly optimistic players at the time.

I can tell you a lot of players want any pre-Omega phase back. That wont happen though.

The latest one seems to be letting this game go out into the sunset and make an Epic Duel 2 on a new engine, custom classes, some selectively desired features from the old phases, etc.
Basically a new game from scratch preferably with cross platform play (Mobile and PC), so that we dont have to hear "flash limitations" to half the suggestions.
