For those of you confused by what to do in Planet 51, this walkthrough is here to help you out!

NOTE: Even though you only need to complete the Kingadent storyline to access Planet 51, it would be beneficial to also complete the Crystal Asteroid and Westion Chapter 1 storylines before going here. Planet 51 fits into the main MechQuest story right after Westion Chapter 1.

The Ultimate Weapon

Arriving at Planet 51 for the first time will begin a transmission from a lab on the planet. Professors Beaumont, Beaufort, and Beatrice have created a great weapon... of great power... that is great. The weapon can fire at an enemy planet, create a wormhole on it, and destroy everything within a 20,000-mile radius of the wormhole. (Planet Loreon (assuming same size as Earth) is just a little less than 4,000 miles in radius. So we're talking five times the radius of Loreon.)

Unfortunately, while Professors Beaufort and Beatrice try to bring the weapon closer to the camera, they accidentally drop it, causing it to explode and cause the planet's destruction and everyone's death. While trying to escape, you get a video feed of an unknown lifeform approaching, followed by you getting knocked out.

The Coliseum

After you regain consciousness, a droid appears. After an analysis, he discovers that you are made of 65% water and asks if you're a water balloon. Yeah, don't worry too much about it. What's important is that the droid permits you to fight for honor in the Coliseum around you. Don't worry too much about that, either; for now, the focus should be to earn glory among all!

There are three kinds of challenges:
  • 1-on-1 mecha battle
  • 1-on-1 mecha battle, followed by a 1-on-1 foot battle
  • Time trial to the other end of the coliseum

The mecha battles are scaled with MQ's natural scaling method. However, the time trial works a little differently. It features four mecha battles, but these are scaled to your Coliseum rank (see below) instead of MQ's scaling method. They start around Level 4 when you're a Fodder, and they go up to around Level 24 when you're a Grand Champion.

The 1-on-1 mecha battles (regardless if there's a foot battle) will be followed by a stat roll to determine if you'll rank up. This stat roll can only be affected by the Persistance Bonus; nothing else can affect the roll. The time trial, however, will always be followed by an automatic rank up (to compensate for its relative difficulty).

Ranks and Rewards

When you arrive at the Coliseum, you will be ranked Fodder. The only way to increase that rank is going through the challenges described above. The ranks are as follows:

  1. Fodder
  2. Whelp
  3. Worm
  4. Scavenger
  5. Scrapper
  6. Rat
  7. Pit Dog
  8. Animal
  9. Brawler
  10. Contender (shop unlock)
  11. Warrior
  12. Crusher
  13. Pulverizer
  14. Myrmidon
  15. Elimitator
  16. Annihilator
  17. Death Dealer
  18. Gladiator
  19. Champion
  20. Grand Champion (shop unlock, finale)
When you reach Contender, you'll unlock the Contender Shop and Contender NG Shop. When you reach Grand Champion, you'll unlock the Grand Champion Shop and Grand Champion NG Shop.

The Explanation

After becoming a Grand Champion, a new NPC named Korin will replace the Coliseum Droid. In real life, Korin was one of the many staff members who worked on MechQuest. From May 4-8 in 2009, Korin locked Warlic (lead of MechQuest at that time) in a closet and took over that week's release, which was, you guessed it, Planet 51.

The in-game NPC Korin was created in the destruction of Planet 51, and appears to have insane powers. He created the Coliseum for amusement (everything he does seems to be for his personal amusement), and it's assumed that he'll return in the future.

This is where my guide ends. With the completion of Planet 51 and the Coliseum, your next step in the story is to Zargon, Gark/Lagos, and Westion Chapter 2. Good luck - you'll need it.

New Challenge?

I am currently unable to access the newly-released challenge! This section of the guide will be updated as soon as I can!
