A Few Unlucky Events
By: The Legendary Hero

It's almost funny how we take our luck for granted. We go through each adventure blindly getting a clue that leads us to the end of our quest. Or we find some weapon on the ground once we beat a boss that is way too powerful for its own good. But what about those heroes that don't have that kind of luck? It might be nice to think that everyone gets lucky all the time, but that's not the case. There are quite a few unlucky souls out there that ended up in some bad situations.

The first would be Len 'Ticklen. Now he does have a funny name, but that's not why he's unluckly. When your allergic to magic and are a wizard by trade... Let's just say it doesn't always end well. It sometimes ends with giant ker'splosions and sneevils flying all over the place. Fun to watch, unless you are in the same general area.* The last time he was seen, a giant crater replaced him.

Another unlucky adventurer would have to be Dien Reclat. He was a paladin that had headed off to stop a wandering group of undead from destroying a small village. Not only was he held up in the forest due to undead he didn't count on, but he lost his favorite sword along the way, ran out of mana potions, lost his map, fell into several holes, and ended up trying to beat off the attacking undead with a stick. The poor guy, he never stood a chance.

It's hard not to comment on Senesh Varcom. She had finally made her way to the end of a large dungeon after beating monstrous worms, harpies, giant bats, and some kind of bear thing. Just as she was about to attack the monster guarding the treasure, disaster struck. Not only did she miss each and every attack, having to resort to her weakened spells, she ended up only getting 4 gold and a half empty potion.

Finally I feel I should mention young Sarcom Dragonsfall. His dream was always to live up to his name sake and make a dragon "fall," but alas, it seemed never to happen. First, he failed to pass the simplest test to be a Dragonslayer. On top of that, he broke out in hives any time he got near dragonsbane. Then, the one time he managed to get into the armor and control his hives enough to use a dragonblade, he finds himself in the path of Akriloth. Let's just say Sarcom probably tasted pretty good with ketchup.

There are countless others. Bi'tith Relgem, whose adventure resulted in him upside down and covered in tar after an errand for Cysero ended horribly wrong; Zem Yux'ly, who tried and failed 30 or so times to get past a bridge with a simple wind current; Venesh Lektur, who became a meal for a giant squidshark... Everyone knows them, and we all feel sorry*** for them, but there will always be those upon whom luck decides not to shine.

* Is it a bird? An Aeromancer? A Cysero? No! It's a sneevil!
** Well...a knight light, but that's besides the point.
*** Okay, so may we get a small laugh here and there off them
