I'll give a little information about me before we get started. I became an ArchKnight of the Encyclopedia back in 2005. Back then we were called Sages of Lore and this is before AE made anything other than AQ. I also wrote for the Zardian for a while and ran/run the fansite UltimateAQ.org. I left the community for a while in 2008 to focus on college and have since graduated and returned.

So, yeah, ask me things! I prefer serious-ish questions, but will also answer some silly ones.

Here are a few of the rules I'll set for this:
1. Universal Forum Rules applies.
2. Please keep the amount of questions to a reasonable number.
3. Just make sure your questions are forum appropriate, if they are I'll answer them.
4. Not sure how long this will be up, probably two weeks or if the questions really die down.

Wow, it's really something to see an old face around again!

What actively brought you back around to the forums? A passing thought? Much longing to return? Stumbling on the game again?
It's kind of a long story actually. I'll try to keep it simple by saying a lot of changes have occurred in my life recently, so I thought making a return to one of the communities that I basically grew up with would be good for me.

What do you like best about the forums, and what do you like best about your duties?
Well, there's a lot I like about the forums. The deep and interesting conversations that can be sparked up, some of the nostalgia that comes with talking about old events and whatnot, and even the intense analysis and number crunching people do to help others. The forums are filled with so many different kinds of people.

What I like best about my duties is that I get to provide a helpful service to those who play the game. I like being able to help people, and I've been doing so since I joined the community, well before the encyclopedia was it is today. What I really enjoy doing is delving into the history of AQ and due to some of what I've done over the years, I'm in a unique situation when it comes to some of the information I'm able to provide.

How actively do you play AQ? What do you like best about it? What are your general thoughts on the game?
heh, well, I don't play a whole lot on my main really anymore. I have other characters that I use for testing out new events, items and other stuff. I always play the new releases at least once.

What I like most about the game is a tough question. The content built up over the last decade is pretty expansive and it truly has some great and funny moments.

My general thoughts on the game are that it's moving in the right direction right now. The rewards sweep in particular is huge and actually allows me to casually play, instead of grind constantly, to level up.

Let's open this up with something nice and fun.

Well, if it's Pi Land, I run away immediately. No time to deal with irrational people :P

Now let's move on to some sort of more serious questioning. Well, as serious as I possibly can

3. What was the major you studied in college?
Actuarial Science

4. Oh right the Zardian...I never did look at that way back then. What did you write about and what was the Zardian about? Also, is the Zardian still up and running?
I wrote about a few things. I wrote AQ history articles. Such as one on the beginning of the game, another on the history of April Fool's Jokes and some interviews with NPCs that delved into their personal history. I also wrote some off-topic articles reviewing things having nothing to do with AE.

The Zardian, in general, was an online magazine written by AE Staff and Authors chosen for it. It had articles on a wide variety of topics including: Game updates for AQ, DF, MQ, and in-universe type articles, articles about the forums, articles about real life things, and there was usually an ask Zorbak segment where some PMed questions were answered.

Sadly, currently the Zardian is no longer being published.

5. What do you think of AQ's stories and items now?
Well, both are definitely more complicated now than they were. It makes it more interesting in a way, but it also requires something like the encyclopedia to really understand some of the intricacies of what is going on.

6. Hmm...Would you mind telling more of this Sages of Lore?
I certainly can! Well, the encyclopedia here started out unlocked. It was available for everyone to post in, and they did. It became hugely cluttered and outdated. That's when the mods decided to lock it down, clean it out and give certain helpful members of the community the chance to author the entries in the encyclopedia to help ensure accuracy and conformity. This group of people were the Sages of Lore and I was one of them not too long after they were formed. Forum groups used to have different titles. Sages of Lore for the pedia, ArchKnights for the modding of the forums and Archipelagan Synod, later RP Tutors, for RP boards. Eventually they all just became part of the ArchKnights.

7. Final question. Welcome back and what do you plan to do by being back here?
Thanks. I plan to keep helping out the encyclopedia in whatever capacity I can. I look forward to keep posting some old events that have gone unarchived for years until now.

Is it possible for the translation to return to original text?
Possibly, though the chances probably become pretty low after a certain number of translations.

When exactly did you left AQ and why?
I left AQ in the Summer of 2007, pretty much. I left for a few reasons, life in general was getting hectic and I lost a lot of the drive to actually play the game.

Do you know exactly how muck # of active AKs are there for the AQ sub-forums? This is a test of memory so don't go searching them out.
I honestly have no clue on this one, maybe like 20?

What was the biggest shock you had when you came back to the game?
Seeing the reward sweep and knowing I could level up in a few battles instead of a few hundred.

Can you really just pick up your AKship where you left off when you are one and you leave?
Sort of, it depends on a few things, however.

Hi there!

Nice to see you around the forum again.
Glad to be back.

Actually, when I started playing AQ, UltimateAQ was my favourite resource to decide what equipment to get, before I discovered the forum. So belated thanks for that website.
You're welcome.

By the way, why did you decide to create UltimateAQ? Was it before the Pedia here got more organized?
I'm not the original founder of UltimateAQ, but the original founder created UAQ way before any type of official encyclopedia existed. The idea was based on other fansites that existed before UAQ did, but fell into disrepair.

And is there something from that site that you would like to see included somewhere here on the forum? Personally, I loved the shields and armours tables where you could get all of them sorted in order from best to worst in a particular resistance or defense with just one click.
That's pretty much the exact same thing I'd want. One of the reasons why, the first thing I updated recently was shields for UAQ, with armors to come next. So that I can do that.

I agree with Watashig. It is good to see an old face again. I similarly used UltimateAQ for the longest time while the Pedia was still incomplete. I have fond memories of it.

I enjoy this avatar a lot. I've only had a couple. Originally this Zombie Hydra, then Luca Blight, and I also had one of Daft Punk for a while.

Hmm... It has been a while and quite a few people have come and gone since you intially became a Sage of Lore long ago. Who do you miss most, not to discriminate, it is hard not to miss any of that lot *thinks of Spelly and DarkForest and glums*, of old acquaintances?
It's tough. There's a lot of people that come to mind. The entirety of the GC, though I do keep in contact with some. DF, Spelly and other AKs of the time I also miss a lot.

Favourite Suikoden character?
Bob, for no particular reason other than he's a werewolf named Bob.

Do you like war races?
What do you mean by war races?

If you could recover one bit of AQ history/lore of your choosing from the Void, what would it be?
heh, well there's not a whole lot missing anymore. But, it would be interesting to see ending text for a lot of the old wars.

well, if you are answering questions, I'd be delighted to ask some

Ok first a weird one: Do you Like Gweens, and why?
I'm still catching up on some things, so I not completely familiar with Gweens, but they seem interesting.

And now a serious one
What was the hardest battle you ever fought and why?
I'll assume you mean battle that I've won. If you're talking about in AQ, then probably back in the day fighting the Flibbitiestgibbet or something, being forced to use my Mana Scepter to regen MP over a period of like 2 hours to cast Heal Wounds.
If you mean in any game, the Omega Weapon in FF8. Not my favorite game, but I did decide to beat this guy for some reason. Took me like 5 hours and lots of frustration to beat.

What was the first game you played?
First game ever? That's a tough one to remember. The farthest back I can remember would make it either Super Mario World or Sonic the Hedgehog.

What was the first TV show you watched? (animated and non-animated)
Also tough ones, I guess other than the kiddy stuff, the first TV shows that I really got into were probably Batman: The Animated Series and almost anything that was on Nickelodeon at the time like The Adventures of Pete and Pete.

What is your favourite AQ release?
Man, there have been so many that I've liked. I might have to go with the Vamprook Spyre quest. Always found that one funny no matter how many times I did it.
