What does it mean when a character is 'wandering in the void' on the character search page of the home website? And how can I find out whether that name is available or not?

Better than never.... essentially it means the account hasn’t been logged into or played on in several years. The name will be available once that account is purged (at AE’s discretion). You can find wether or not a name is available by using the character page searcher, and typing in that name. If it says user is not found, it means the name is available. If you try and change your name to that name, and it doesn’t allow you to, it’s either 1. That name isn’t allowed to be used, or 2. The name change happened within 21 days.
