Fartix -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (12/10/2007 0:32:23)

Is it really true...?

YES!!! THE GIMP VERSION!!!

*Hurries and tries it*

Thank you, as you have just brightened my day up.

Saerokeon -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (12/10/2007 21:14:00)

I think I had a oretty bad render to start with, but viola!

lguan -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (12/10/2007 21:19:03)

Wow, that outcome and ... shape and look of the tut look freakishly just like my tag and tut O_o. Uhh, nice job on converting lol. For Gimp, that's a great and very similar outcome.

Fartix -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (12/20/2007 23:12:19)

...I tried it using the same stock and the same steps, etc.

I got confused the the endish, but this is what I (kinda) got:

Oh, and I smudged some parts.

LightningIsMyName -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (12/21/2007 5:58:52)

good outcome - as i see from your tag you are not confused - you just used a masking (rectangle) in different areas, that all.

Also - here is my outcome (i skipped two steps)

Fartix -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/16/2008 0:19:11)

Hooray, i tried it again, and got a much better outcome!

Nice one Fartix!

no try this with your own stock - do something with another picture.

Fartix -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/16/2008 0:30:13)

Yeah, I was thinking about that... but the one from the tut is cool. It's a old guy looking at his hands.

Bone_funny -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/16/2008 9:18:14)

actully i think its an artist.....

.Tera -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/16/2008 9:42:03)

Actually I think he's the heroin addict from Lost.

Yeah.

I win.

ShadowBlitz -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/16/2008 13:46:18)

hey i cant get a good render
wat is the name of the render u used

LightningIsMyName -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/17/2008 0:48:35)

I don't what stock I used :D I got the link from lguan, the make of the PS tut.

Basically it worked very well by just getting any render, painting the background in a suiting color and then just treating it as a stock[;)]

He's from Lost, I think his name was Charlie but I haven't watched it for months...

SufferMe -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/17/2008 11:43:17)

Yeha, charlie from lost.
Domonic monoghan i think ... he was a hobbit in lord of the rings :)
the name may be of the other hobbit though xD

Fartix -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/21/2008 19:34:54)

Ok then, I tried it with a different render...

The text is kinda weird, though.

LightningIsMyName -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (1/22/2008 9:18:04)

Nice result Fartix!

Fartix -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (2/19/2008 19:06:07)

On the "Waves" part, I think, compared to the Photoshop version, you need to go to Filters>>Distorts>>Ripple and set it on Vertical.

I think that's what it's supposed to be.

LightningIsMyName -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (2/20/2008 0:27:08)

actually I did it with photoshop to try, you can achieve the effect with either ripple or wave in gimp, yet I chose waves since it has a bit more circular look.

however, You can still use the ripple if you want to

Mo -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (4/4/2008 21:16:07)

I can't seem to get the same results as you. The brush stays the same color when I do alpha to selection and layer masks

Trip -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (4/4/2008 22:18:46)

Mo Move the clipmask Above the brush Layer :\

Cool Dragonz -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (4/5/2008 7:31:11)

yay! FAQ'd! Kewl tut :)

Mo -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (4/5/2008 11:09:00)

Well, actually the alpha to selection doesn't work once I paste the copy visible layer

Howler -> RE: To find everything I lost... tut [GIMP Version] (4/6/2008 3:07:31)

:D Nice tutorial. This is my result (I messed around with some steps like the opacity and blending modes):
