Anyways, the Rikku tut is pretty awesome. It teachs you how to make a great background.

there are a few ways to blend:1.(not reccomended)blur the edges of the render 2.smudge the sides of the render

Well, you can do some things SB. Firstly: Set the background on the highest layer and lower it's opacity. Or set it on the highest layer and play with the buttons :D. Normal [...] Grain Extract [...]. Sometimes you might find something you like :D

It's the pencil tool. It is often called pen tool, dunno why. Press "N" to select ;)
