Mo -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (4/20/2008 19:26:38)

I meant when you start out in terragen. The prework

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (4/23/2008 18:45:10)

I don't think you can.

Howler -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (4/23/2008 20:03:39)

:O Nice. I'm going to try and make a snowy background.

Then I'm going to add some realistic animal renders. XD

Dabbleh -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/7/2008 20:03:45)

Dude, are you gunna finish this?

Mo -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/7/2008 20:08:17)

Give him some slack. He already ahs an awesome tut. And everyone here has a life outside of the forums

How do you make the color of the sky red and not the entire thing red, like the beginning image for the postwork

for the pre work,go to atmosphere settings and change decaying red and atmospheic blue to the colors you want.then go to ligh settings and change the sun level to sun set(set it by the ground).

Fartix -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/7/2008 22:53:59)

Sorry, but I think the end result looks kinda unrealistic.

All I do is:
1) Make the Terragen image.
2) Save it and open it in GIMP/PS.
3) Duplicate the Image Layer.
4) Smudge it all out.
5) Set the smudged layer to "Soft Light." (100%)
6) Then do a Copy Visible/Apply Image.
7) Set that layer to "Soft Light." (You choose the Opacity, but I prefer 50-75%)

I think the Gradient Map that you put in is the main cause of the Unrealistic-ness. But I don't know. It's still a great tutorial. [:)]

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/7/2008 23:01:54)

Acually, I know it may not seem realistic, but I aimed on teaching texturing. Good tip though. :)
But yes I'll try to update this by ,hopefully, this weekend.

Dude, I was just trying to revive.

Btw when I go on 3D Preview it looks rubbish.
And how to you save it as an image?

Mo -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 15:19:48)

When I go on 3D Preview, it really just stays white...

You can add texture without anything else. If you want, I could make a tut for it or just tell you.

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 17:40:26)

Dabbleh: loL. And I don't think you can save the 3d thing. It is mainly for positioning the camera.

Mo: How long did it stay white? Sometimes it may take 5 minutes or so to start loading the terrain. If it stay blank for longer- Wait for about an hour, and if it isn't still loaded then look at support on the site. Always, keep in mind, that loading could take a long time depending on the quality of your computer.

Updates I'm planning on adding soon:

-Better examples for making the terrain.
-Finish the rest
-Add some terrains that you can download.

Mo -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 17:42:37)

The loading it just stays white until I get tired and close it. When I get a chance I'll see how long

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 17:48:28)

Another tip-
Try not to have tons of applications running. A webpage is ok, but a game that you installed with a CD would make it load slower.

Bone_funny -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 18:14:23)

i have a question-when im generating something,like clouds or water,if says add effect.i click add,but it says no effect loaded. how would i load the effects?

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 19:21:43)

You don't have to add an effect.Also an effect is like a plug-in for terragen.

Bone_funny -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 19:35:55)

i mean how do you get them.it says i dont have any.

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/8/2008 19:39:34)

You download them from various sites. Look at the main site they link to some effects.

Click "Render Image" on the Rendering Control window, then let it load (It may take a long time if you checked "Clouds Cast Shadows")
Then Click "Save Image." It saves it as a BMP, but you can change it in GIMP/PS.

Dabbleh -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/9/2008 14:02:36)

Thanks dude.

Dabbleh -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/9/2008 15:41:28)

Very First!

Original

Edited with GIMP Without tut.

Sa what you think for my very first by myself? :)

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/9/2008 15:44:03)

I think it's pretty good. Try adding some surface maps to your terrain.

Dabbleh -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/9/2008 15:45:26)

Yup, that was second on my check list. I didn't want to download some before I tried it. Got a good link for them??

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/21/2008 21:21:44)

Look at the first post. I made a pack of atomspheres and surface maps.

ShadowSlash -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/21/2008 21:25:42)

Download link invalid

is what it says when I try to download your pack.
What I've done though is made my own. :)

DeathKnight2 -> RE: Terragen for Dummies [Terragen & Photoshop] (5/24/2008 8:24:45)

Meh. I don't feel like reuploading. If you need surface maps go to the terranuts link at the bottom.
