Can you provide a screen shot of what happens when you try, sofaraway?

Rambo, what file type is it?

animefreakk -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/18/2008 21:30:46)

When I downloaded new brushes
It says I need Vbr file
Do I need to download something to open vbr file?

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/18/2008 21:34:27)

You could try opening the brush file, and then save it as a .gbr (gimp brush) or as a .vbr as it says.

sofaraway: The color erase works in a specific way that it removes the forground color and turns it into transpercy. If you brush on "color erase" on exactly the same color as the forgruond, it will work perfectly. On the other hand, when you brush on colors which are less similar to the FG color it will have less effect, and on the inverted color it will have no effect (example: color erase with white as the FG won't work on black).

Simple change the forground color to something more similar to the area you are working on, with the same hue that you want to remove and then continue brushing there. (I recomend using a soft brush to make the edges softer)

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/22/2008 22:05:07)

Try going into the fonts dialogue and then try to press refresh fonts

Angelic Rose -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 11:15:06)

Hmm,

Edit > Copy Visible then Add alpha selection.

Here's my question, how do I paste the copy to a new layer?

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 12:12:15)

Ok, press Ctr+V (Or paste, whichever strikes your fancy) and then in the image window, there should be a bunch of words that if you click on you some options should appear, layers should be one of the words. Anyways, click on layers for more options, one option will say "New Layer". Click on that and it should be a new layer.

Also, the layers dialog always comes in handy when using layers. Press Ctr+L to access it.

Angelic Rose -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 13:31:26)

Thanks Mo.

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 15:05:09)

No problem, now Rambo, is there any more that you can specify about your problem?

Lady Alora -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 16:25:05)

Is this about text? I might be able to help.

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 16:26:28)

Yes, his problem is that the text won't show up in GIMP. He says that everything I told him won't work.

Lady Alora -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 16:39:07)

I had the same problem. You have to do a few things including extracting the files in two places and adjusting your preferences in gimp to access two places. Then you can either refresh them, or shut down and restart gimp.

Here's my way:

Open Gimp
Go to File, then click on preferences.
Go down to folders and click on fonts.
Now, in the white box, you should see this http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa170/christine21486/pref.jpg
Click on the white square that looks like a piece of paper. Then click on the folder on the right. A window will open.
Go to your "C:"
Double click on the "Windows folder".
Now click on the fonts folder and click okay.
This will add the option of where you get your fonts. This alone with give you all the fonts available on your computer.

Now, when you extract your fonts, extract them in both files and close and re-open gimp and they should be there.

_Affliction_ -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/23/2008 22:05:32)

Ok It works Now!! Thanks to everyone!

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/30/2008 19:52:23)

Wow, I'm kinda embarrassed to ask a question here since I'm the thread owner, but whenever I try and download a brush pack or anything, they come as .zip when I open them, it comes with a huge code and nothing else

Bone_funny -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/30/2008 19:55:14)

screenshot?
and does this happen on EVERY pack,or just 1?

Mo -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/30/2008 19:56:11)

So far it's happened to everything, one sec, I'll get a screenie

EDIT:Here
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc300/mohamedzv2/screenie-2.jpg
That's what pops up when I try to open it

Bone_funny -> RE: GIMP Support 101 Q&A and Help Thread II (5/30/2008 20:00:09)
