Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 17:53:55)

Falerin insists many times that the intermediary railed four times. We think the word "rail" is a clue on IRC.

general greivous -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 17:56:47)

Anyone who feels like it, we are using room #mystery on IRC.

Yusaku Godai -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 17:58:00)

I don't know if this will help at all but i counted each time letter appears:

A7 L4 I8 B1 E7 N3 H4 D3 P3 O1 S6 F3 G1 Y2 R2 V1 K1 U1 C2 T4 M1

Somebody might want to double check in case i missed something, or counted something twice.

@nex: i thinkk you maybe right with rail being a clue.

frogboy52295 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:00:16)

GIYN KEDU are the ones that could be railed...... for foward

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:04:07)

let's see if this might work...

A'LI A'LBT NHD PHOSAET EF ALI GIYN HS AS-R'IHAV EDS KEDU ITE ETS FPCISL. FYNC TIT ETR. PA MTI

R'DS R'DVL MI NI R L J Rd S AS M I R - 'SIR T F Sl l jnws d j mw lsl l l nr ls

Remember that old code that one of the players put up yesterday?

This is all I can decode with that original code. I think if we can put it all together, it might help us. I think that v'led might mean Veiled as in cloaked or covered.

I just realized something else too. If you re-arrange the letters of phosaet, it spells teashop when you unscramble it.

lordkrall -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:14:26)

Ah, so second one is live, which IRC-channel is used for it?:)

Yusaku Godai -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:15:59)

@lordkrall we are on #mystery

Cod Cod Lord of Mysteries -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:41:32)

I don't know what IRC is.

Falerin -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:46:30)

People have been close to the right solution unfortunately they are alas missing the point. And missing the point in two different senses of the word.

Randomnity -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:46:50)

It is a real-time chat place. You can download a standalone chatter for it, or you could use the one at caelestia.net. Remember to type: /join #mystery.

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 18:53:15)

Do you mean we need to include the "point" aka period in our grids? I'm having no luck with this Rail Fence cipher. The zig zag formation is not working. Maybe it's just a straight grid instead of the zig zag pattern... not sure if the spaces are part of the deciphering as well...

EDIT - I've got part of it!

spoiler:

"flying city in the stars - Pra'Mithia"

I've only got a partial grid working but that's what it says so far. Looks promising!

kors -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:04:58)

what is that part the first or last lkeas?

i dont know if this is related but the letters L H and T show up 4 times so mabye its related...

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:07:29)

It's done! Spoilered for those who want to solve it on their own.

spoiler:

"A V'eld is a K'eld but in the depths of space itself. A flying city in the stars - Pra'Mithia"

Finished with help from Insanity_Incarnated, Miles, and frogboy, and many others haha [:D]

frogboy52295 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:09:37)

we got it lkeas is posting it

Cryogenesis -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:09:38)

Yay, we've got it! This was so much fun, can't wait for the next one.

Danny A -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:10:51)

how r u meant to work these out by substituting letters for other letters because i dont know how you guys and girls do it one minute you dont even know 1 letter next minute you have the code.

Mytra -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:12:59)

It was done doing a rail-cipher. Something I'm still struggling to learn how to use. In this case substituting letters had nothing to do with it.

kors -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:13:20)

so could it be talking about the ship?

general greivous -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:13:26)

We were working non stop over at IRC Danny A :p

We tried a million things before we actually got it.

EDIT: Really fun Fal, keep them coming like this! :D

Kain -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:13:27)

It's not in 1 minute...we work hard, with many, many methods. We got it in a few hours because everyone was working non-stop. However, Lkeas and Insanity_Incarnated found it, in the end.

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:13:31)

Just so people can know how we solved it (spoilered again)

spoiler:

It ended up being a 2-rail cipher instead of a 4-rail cipher (sneaky Fal).

A ' L I A ' L B T N H D P H O S A E T E F A L I G I Y N H S A S - R ' I H A
V E D S K E D U I T E E T S F P C I S L . F Y N C T I T E T R . P A M T I

You start on the top row and take one letter, then skip to the bottom row and take a letter there, then to back to the first row in a zig-zag pattern to read the message.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:14:09)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_Fence_Cipher

Danny A, if you don't IRC, you'll miss a lot.

Danny A -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:17:30)

i know that you didn't actually find it out in a min but what i mean is i don't know how you could work something out like that and im actually smart myself, i always avoid the ciphers in newspapers, how did u guys know to go up and down in a zig zag and how you placed the two rows. it all confuses me[:-][&:]

Cod Cod Lord of Mysteries -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:18:47)

I get it now. [:D]

Cryogenesis -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/28/2009 19:19:26)

@Danny A. I believe that Insanity_incarnated or Lkeas noticed Pra'Mithia, and we let Lkeas go from there.
