So sad. The release of the Asgard Set and the old home page are great memories. Remember when the guardian server was near the bottom of the page and the animation of the paladin armor guy pwning a death knight with a bolt of light from the sky? Also the times when Angelique was just a forumite then a AK before becoming a mod.

ah yes... The lone female player in what seemed to be the entire world :P

Today's players have so much to go on though. So much story to explore (the entire Devourer Saga? Thats a good week of playing casually, and the DracoMancer Saga, and Zorbak's Hideout etc etc.) And the sweep is now making everything new, and in a year or two, players are going to revel in the joy of smiting ice monsters with their new and improved Fire Sword.

And when Asgardian got released, everyone was amazed that it could outdamage Reign Plate; the once champion of offence [:-]

Also its release caused the temporary end of my AQ career. I wanted it sooo bad. I resisted before I broke down and sold everything for it (as in Poise, Shadow, Reign). It sucked with one hit and I quit in disgust with no gold. The re-release of the golden set on the other hand meant nothing to me. I thought it was stupid. Still do in fact.
Remember the Uneasy Peace war(?) that had the Dragon blade as an encounter! I remember racing Zacky to level 100 and loosing due to a day spent maze farming. Good times!

Shire you are one of the few of the group I remember that is still active. Good to see an old avatar.

heh, once my avvy gets booted back up that is :P The forum crashed a little while back, and I have been sorely missing Daimyo from my posts [&o]

(How long have I had that avatar? Forever it seems >_>)

Also: I'm playing through the entire Devourer Saga right now, and its amazing to play through what I remember from level ~50

hmm well to me.... does the void dragon war count as verteran? even though its not on my current character it was on my VERY VERY VERY old account... hehe i thought level 50 was high level [:D] heh good times

-When dracomancers came out and i was really disappointed because I wasn't a Guardian so I couldn't get past level 5.
-When DragonFable came out; YES... but then they started making all these other sequels and prequels and whatever... AQ and DF are the only two I really play anymore (but sometimes AQW of course). Oh and this caused the Theories forum to explode with ideas as to where was Galanoth, where'd Rolith go, why sneevils and trogs weren't in AQ, who was Xan, and OMFG WARLIC IS A BAMF, etc.
-When the Nightbane Saga was the shiznits and I couldn't wait for the battle between Wolfwing and Nightbane. There were so many theories on who he was and how he related to everyone else...

I remember logging on at school in the mornings before the bell rang and homeroom began... 'course that was like 5 years ago

Nah. I'm his brother, and I can verify that he ended up quitting right around the time I signed up for the forums. He rarely touches AQ anymore, no matter how much I try to get him to. >_>

EDIT: Just showed him the post the above quote was from. He's touched that some people actually remember him considering how well know the others on that list were (he remembers them all!).

But speaking of Frostval, I still remember the events of 06 and 07. Quite probably AQ's best holiday events of all time. I only wish I didn't decide to go on haitus around last year's Frostval >_<

Aaaaawww I just used the password recovery to find my old accounts from 2005-06 and the characters have all been deleted! Aaaahhh.... well I guess it wouldn't really matter... still, I had a guy from the Future Carnax War with the Weather Remote on one of them... :(

-Oh, and when the Clans came out... man that was awesome; it was the first form of PvP they ever had (of course, it wasn't anything close to actually fighting a player, but it was good enough for me at the time).

EDIT: The war in which the Golden Dragonslayer armor came out... I thought it was gonna go rare, so I snatched it up. unfortunately, I overlooked the item that really would go rare; the Golden Dragonblade.

Here's one that is brought into particular significance given the recent update. I remember when my friend was first showing me AQ and i thought werepyre form was so amazing that i had to start playing the game and get guardian ASAP. Little did i know i'd be addicted still 5 years later.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think it's been nearly four years since houses were first released. Back when it was the Tent at 200 Tokens and the Tiki Hut at 1000... I was just shy of getting that 1000 when it was first released, so I farmed for hours on end to get those last 10 tokens. This was WAY before Ballyhoo even dropped Tokens-- in fact, Ballyhoo didn't even exist yet! And, the Hut came with a FREE GUARD! (A Guard Sheep) This was completely unheard of, and yet, so welcome.

And of course, every few months a new house would be released. Those of us who got the previous tier just before it came out had enough Tokens to buy the new one upfront. With each upgrade, we saw more and more what houses could be. Storage Slots, Temporary Weapons and Armour, and even a completely exclusive quest in the Frostval Stone House!

Anyone remember the old plans for Kingdoms and Castles? The idea of sharing a Castle or Kingdom, chipping in to make it strong? It sounded almost like the Clan system all over again, but much more dynamic. In retrospect, I see now that it probably would have gone stagnent, with castles rising and falling as players became inactive and causing the rest of the castle to suffer, but back then it sounded like it would be one of the greatest things to happen to AQ.

Then, after a year and a half since the very first houses, came Estates. It's hard to believe it's already been two and a half years since we first started collecting resources and upgrading buildings. In fact, at that point all we had were the resource collectors, the Trade Hut, the Guard Tower, and the Stat Trainers (Which were, at the time, considered to be the main reason to get the Estate). With all the pent up extra resources, we were given the first Storage Building, which only went to level 10, to store 2000 more resources. The Museum came next, and then the second Storage Building... In fact, it wasn't until 9 months after Estates were released that we finally got the Mega World Portal and could start using our resources for something beyond the house system. It's been nearly two years since we first had the option to do this!

Here's to four years of one of the best additions to AQ's gameplay.

I miss the times when I was level 75-80.

I always prayed that Iran into an "undead party", because they gave me 1,000 EXP, which was really good for me.

Now, I pray that I run into Sarah! 12,000 EXP in 1 turn? Count me in!

It is precisely that nostalgia that got me back here. I loved all those good old days and the wars. My golly the spam back then though!! I think my favourite was Frostval 07 where I got my still beloved Bunny Jammies! :D

When I saw the screenshots from the homepage links and saw what I later found out was the Drgonfang Scimitar. I went on a hunt to find it for the longest time when I was a newb and didn't know a thing. But thanks Staff for putting the a version in there I could use at sometime :) I loved it!

I remember when I was something like, about level 33, level 36 and I saw this AMAZING weapon in the LTS (Limited Time Shop) called the Opposcythe. I couldn't be bothered buying it though. O.P.P.O.S.C.Y.T.H.E!!!

I miss the days when spells didn't use up much Mana as today. I'm still a noob back then too.

I also miss the "Be A Guardian!" Ballyhoo ad. I'm a X-Guardian now, So I don't get to see that ad now.

Oh the spam. Delicious spam. Multiple pages of spam.

I wish I hadn't sold my Bunny Jammies >_< I sold them in desperation to raise some quick funds for Golden Plate, and I ended up selling Golden Plate anyways [:(]

I remember when the map didn't have so many dots (especially highlighted ones)
I remember there being no z-tokens (and getting them)
Getting to use SP meter (with Pirate Raiment)
Using my noob build to beat Shii+Wallo not so long ago (w/ 35 of each potion)
Remember using Golden Dragonslayer Armor with old graphics
Getting the signs
Using dracomancer armor (and spamming Half-Dragon Transformation when I got my guardianship)
Overusing werepyre form when dracopyres didn't exist when it first came out (wolfwing is still cooler than nightbane)

& other stuff that happened that I forgot [&:] My back hurts too [:D]
