Supermxn: I just bought the TropoShield in order to take a screenshot of the Untriggered side,
but both of them are (almost) the same unless I'm just wrong in this case.
Otherwise I just can post the Untriggered image or both of them in a single image.

Actually there is a difference. It seems that when triggered it changes hues, its dimension and also shifts forward by a no. of degrees. Taken care of. ~B

    BlackAces -> RE: Shields (1/1/2012 23:43:49)

    As with when the giftboxes were released we spent time deciding on a method on how to approach them and we ended up using appendices for the gold versions. We will again be using the same approach for these items and I would like to ask you to not worry yourself with attempting it as we will be doing it. Feel free to do the Z-Token version write-ups as per usual.

    Xrai -> RE: Shields (1/2/2012 0:47:41)

    Giftbox Shield turned into:

    Cutting Edge Guard
    Good against Energy, moderate against Fire, low against Wind. Good combat defenses。
    Description: This is a shield that'll not only block attacks very well, it'll also defend against Energy, Wind and Fire (Earth charged too much). The blades on the shield will damage an enemy when you block, hurting more if you block all their attacks that turn!

    Typo in game: attaks

    quote:

    Giftbox shield (it's late, I can't remember the name)

    At the beginning of your turn, if the monster missed at least one attack, then the monster takes damage based on the number of attacks that you blocked.

    Base: =ROUND(((0.00375*PowLvl^2 + 0.5625*PowLvl + 5.25) / 2 / (1 + 0.03*PowLvl))))
    Rand: =ROUND(2*(2*(0.00375*PowLvl^2 + 0.5625*PowLvl + 5.25) / 2 / (1 + 0.03*PowLvl) -Base))
    SBR: =ROUND(((-0.00000349*PowLvl^3 + 0.000552*PowLvl^2 + 0.0801*PowLvl + 1.67) * 100))

    BlockMod = [#of hits in the last round that missed] / [# of hits in the last round attempted]

    This is one attack of:

    Base damage: round(Base*SBR *2/3 *BlockMod /5 *85/15)
    Rand damage: round(Rand*SBR *2/3 *BlockMod /5 *85/15)
    Stat: none
    BTH: +300

    This only counts hits done by the monster that affect you. So if the monster heals or something, then it doesn't count.

    Kalanyr -> RE: Shields (1/2/2012 7:58:49)

    The Cutting Edge shield was doing the wrong damage and had the wrong resistances. Kamui will be posting the correct resistances shortly. The damage formula above is correct except its missing a *85/15 modifier.

    Dreiko Shadrack -> RE: Shields (1/2/2012 13:47:08)

    Currently if the GB shield is the killing blow the monster won't actually die till you attack it, pretty sure that's a glitch yeah?

    ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Shields (1/2/2012 15:56:21)

    ^Not a glitch; it's the way the game engine works.

    Watashig -> RE: Shields (1/2/2012 16:04:42)

    Perhaps it should be noted that Chillax Claw is mastercrafted? It has the same sell price as the giftboxen of the same level.

    Khimera -> RE: Shields (1/3/2012 13:24:00)

    There's an error with your SBR formulae Kammy/IMR - It has the *85/15 applied and it shouldn't. Ello and I found this at the same time on IRC ^^

    Edit: Actually, there're a couple of mistakes with the formulae... here's correct versions, pending further investigation.

    Base: =ROUND(((0.00375*PowLvl^2 + 0.5625*PowLvl + 5.25) / 2 / (1 + 0.03*PowLvl)))*85/15)
    Rand: =ROUND((4*(0.00375*PowLvl^2 + 0.5625*PowLvl + 5.25) / 2 / (1 + 0.03*PowLvl)))*85/15) - Base
    SBR: =ROUND(((-0.00000349*PowLvl^3 + 0.000552*PowLvl^2 + 0.0801*PowLvl + 1.67) * 100))

    Watashig -> RE: Shields (1/3/2012 20:59:14)

    If base is subtracted at the end, isn't that Max, not Random? It's a pattern that I picked up from playing around with scaling weapons.

    Khimera -> RE: Shields (1/3/2012 21:02:52)

    It'd be max is the base -wasn't- subtracted

    Ianthe -> RE: Shields (1/3/2012 23:58:47)

    Correct numbers are up on the shield.

    Skull Kid -> RE: Shields (1/4/2012 12:44:25)

    It's Hand Of Cillax not Chillax Claw :P

    Xrai -> RE: Shields (1/4/2012 12:47:23)

    @above: It looks like the claw of Chillax, thus they called it Chillax Claw. Anyway their entries are done: Hand of Chillax.

    Shiba -> RE: Shields (1/5/2012 7:01:05)

    quote:

    at the beginning of your turn, when you have the Hand of Chillax equipped, there's a pop-up that says:
    "You are shielded from damage by the Hand of Chillax! All damage to you this round is reduced 50%!"

    The fact that it says beforehand if its ability is going to happen can be used to your advantage, so I thought it's worth noting [;)]

    Updated and credited. Thank you. ~B

    Night Shield (Lvl 50): -18 Darkness, +6 all defenses (1.00 points left). 8600/4300 price.

    Chameleon Shield (Lvl 55): -19 to either Earth or Water, +7 Melee/Ranged, +6 Magic. Price 25100/12550

    Note that this post is not entirely needed to the pedia, as all the necessary information is all there, as was addressed in Forum Issues.

    Perhaps such shields (especially Darkness, Water, Fire, Energy, Wind, Wooden) could use the newer format to be moreso in line with the newer entries? To some people like me, having an inconsistent formula (this one!) can be distracting to reading the entry.

    quote:

    The current entry is fine as it is the reason we usually update entries is when the item receives an update. Thanks anyway! ~Aces

    (In reference to me redoing an entry for Zephyr)

    Now, the item is getting an update.

    While I'm here, I'd like to add that all these shields in the above post can easily be found at the top of the second post, Level Index, of the full index.

    Sun Shield's element location is inconsistent.

    Glave Shield could use a bit of a revamp to the entry, as could Frogzard Shield (in this shield's name size, "COMBAT DEFENSES", and description). Yes, they were both updated, as said a few posts above.

    I have updated all the shields in the pedia to use the currently used/preferred format. ~B
