dragoncrazyxp -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:02:04)

Hey could anyone fill me in on what kind of weapons there are? Like in AQ it's Melee/Ranged/Magic. and are they the same stat boosts?

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:06:44)

It's very, very similar to AQ. However, in WarpForce, Magic weapons will be rare, as the magical sources in outer space are not as strong as they are on Lore. And, unlike AQ, where Ranged weapons require STR, Guns in WF do not (IIRC, there are a few guns in AQ that have the same stat formula as the ones in WF)

dragoncrazyxp -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:11:53)

thanks! so there's basically a ranger and warrior build with beast variants?

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:15:35)

Yup. Even though there is not much magic in WF though, there are also INT-stat required variants. They use what we call in WF Skills&Techs, and are very similar to Spells in AQ. Most of them don't deal Magic damage, however, but rather Melee/Ranged damage.

dragoncrazyxp -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:16:11)

But it still uses INT stat right?

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:19:04)

Yes, Skills&Techs still get INT bonuses; same as AQ. For more info on Skills&Techs, you can take a look at it's own Pedia section. :)

Digital X -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:24:16)

Quick question about Skills and Techs. I just switched to a Gunner build, focusing heavily on LUK and DEX. I know that they get INT bonuses as it's a spell, but would they still do signifcant amount of damage with just 150 DEX and LUK or would i NEED INT for them to benefit from?

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 18:47:25)

Well, I've got 0 INT, and they are pretty powerful without the INT. But, just keep in mind that yes, INT makes the spells stronger -- with additional BtH AND damage bonuses--, but more importantly, if you've only got 0 INT, you're only going to be able to use 1 or 2 Techs. If you want to use Skills&Techs frequently, then you should have a decent amount of INT. A Gunner could survive without INT, and I wouldn't advise spreading out your stats too much. I'd focus on 2 stats if I were you (DEX&INT if you prefer Techs, and DEX&LUK if you prefer weapons). At the end of the day, you'll still have your same setup (considering that you are sticking with the Engineer Gunner), which is maxed DEX&LUK&INT plus the little bit of END as your cherry on top of the cake :)

Zephyros -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/7/2010 19:13:35)

"Gunner" isn't really a build on its own. Since Guns use DEX only, you should be putting stat points somewhere else -- INT for techs, CHA for pets and robots, END for HP, etc. Guns are a "default" weapon, they're not very strong. You should be doing something else to either do damage or outlast the enemy while you chip away at them with your Gun.

Digital X -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 2:56:25)

I was aiming for a "25 END, 150 LUK/DEX" build. Which is a Lucky Gunner if i'm not mistaken. I did think of having 100 on DEX, LUK and INT so that i could use S&T's more efficently, while still maintaining a small amount of HP (25 END, i think.) which should be just enough to survive most enemies as i will have better use of healing spells. From a Lucky Gunner to a Lucky Technician would that be then?

yclc -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 8:27:56)

@Zephyros

Now I'm confused. Are warriors are build on their own then? Are swords strong enough on their own?
Also, I realised that most armour attacks do not include stat bonuses for guns. Where is dex ever applied as a stat bonus then? Thank you.

general greivous -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 8:32:38)

Yes, warriors are just like AQ. They just have a lot more variety, because Battlesuits have lots of special attacks in them :p

And DEX is used in BTH.

yclc -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 8:35:49)

Oh, so then warriors deal more damage than gunners naturally, just that they also need dex, but gunners can put more points into external stats like CHA and INT?

general greivous -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 8:45:00)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I, for one, do not focus on DEX on my char, I try to make him a Glass Canon: *clicky*. I'm not gonna say I have it easy, since the lack of BM pets for all elements and all, but I'm doing fairly well on enemies 15 levels higher than me in the war.

(Tip for the war, use Pra'Mithia >_>)

yclc -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 8:53:03)

Wow, thanks a lot!
Oh man, now I'm beginning to wonder if all the gold I spent pumping my dex to 80 was worth it, since I won't get as much out of it as a warrior who pumped his str to 80.
Well, I guess eventually my dex will have to hit 200. Just that maybe I should look into diversifying my stats a little for now.

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 10:48:28)

Zephyros, I understand what you're saying, and I've actually been wondering if there's been a Gunner build a long time ago. Thanks for the confirmation. I was just saying that you should be able to survive only using DEX&LUK (of course, with the 50 (or less) END), even if you had to use a potion here and a healing spell there. Sitting in a defensive armor, such as the Heavy Gunner, should allow you to outlast the enemy, with the DEX for blocking and additional BtH and LUK for additional offense in Lucky Strikes.

Digital X, All Gunners train, or should train LUK. Unlike AQ, where the most important stats to train for a Ranger is STR and DEX, in WF, Gunners should train DEX and LUK (because since there is no stat bonus for guns, they need the LUK for Lucky Strikes to compensate for the loss in damage).

Anyhoo, to your question, yes, that'd be a Lucky Technician. Keep in mind that you'll be using guns, since without STR, melee weapons are absolutely useless to you.

Digital X -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 12:03:24)

Char page is looking good i think. I have all the guns that are of the best level i could find, apart from VBG Mark IV's "Unauthorised User Detected" damage onto the player, the only other highest level ranged weapon would be the level 32 Rocket Launcher, and that is a bit too much below my level so i guess this'll have to do.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/8/2010 17:43:55)

moneybags: LUK is by no means a necessity for Gunners. As Zephyros said, Gunners should be doing /something/ else to compensate for their weak primary damage, but that something does not have to be the increase in weapon potential that comes with LUK. It could be the secondary damage that comes with CHA, or the extended durability that comes with DEX or END. As long as they have another specialty besides weapon damage, they should be fine.

YamiRan -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/11/2010 13:50:50)

How do i save equipped weapon and armors do I need to be warp guardian

Omni -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/11/2010 15:50:54)

That feature is currently not available in WF and whether it ever will be is currently unknown.

dragoncrazyxp -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/14/2010 20:18:06)

Could someone tell me what the "best" equipment is for a Non-WarpGuardian?

serioussam -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/14/2010 22:53:54)

Where can I find the Star Gauntlet?

Bu Kek Siansu -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/14/2010 23:20:57)

dragoncrazyxp: Could you please give us the link of your character page?

Veya -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/15/2010 15:22:08)

Well, quite recently, i started to play WF, the only problem i am having is for a build, I have been using a AQ guide for builds, I decided for a "Power Hybrid", I just wished to know if there are better builds for WF style

http://aq.battleon.com/Build30/charviewWF.asp?temp=70618744

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Questions and Answers Thread (5/15/2010 15:59:49)

@Nex: Yeah, I guess that's true. But Even if you train DEX&LUK, Gunners will still have another stat to deal extra damage. If a Gunner wants two other sources of damage other than their weapons, then by all means, sacrifice LUK for the preferred stat.

@Veya: Personally, I don't think which build you choose really matters. Games are all about fun, and and if you're playing with a build that you don't like, then there's no point. My question to you is, what is your fighting style? Would you rather use focus on strong weapons, or would you rather use weaker weapons and have other sources of damage? There are tons and tons of builds; you can find out more about them in a guide here. Here are some of the base builds, both of which have sub builds that you can train into. (It's actually kinda like AQ, with a few exceptions).

Strikers are the equivalent of Warriors in AQ. They use melee weapons, little to no spells (called Skills in WF), etc. Trains STR, DEX and LUK. If you're choosing a sub-build, then you can sacrifice LUK to train that stat (CHA for the use of pets, INT to change into a Hybrid, END to become a Tank, y'know, the AQ stuff :P). There is no difference between the Strikers of WF and Warriors of AQ. Pretty straightforward.

Gunners are the biggest difference. Unlike AQ, WF ranged weapons do not receive stat bonuses (other from BtH), so you do NOT need to train STR, unless you are going for a Striker. That leaves you for another stat to build on (same as the ones listed above for the sub-builds). Guns would be weaker than the melee weapons, but your other stat you train should be able to compensate for the loss in damage.

"Where are the Mages?", you ask. While they are a huge part of AQ, there are not going to be magic weapons around in WF (there might be, but super duper rarely). So instead of having a mage build by it's own, you'll have train INT to a Striker (making it a Hybrid), or a Gunner.

So I guess that explains the builds, and as to your character's build, it looks fine. I personally would not train my END that high for now, but it's really up to you. Since you have to train it there eventually, it might as well be now :P If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask :D
