The Rules of the EpicDuel General Discussion (ED GD)

This is the place for you to discuss the newest addition to AE: EpicDuel!

  • All Universal Forum Rules relating to posting behavior apply!
These should be the first thing you read when you join the forums. They apply everywhere; this means that any behavior prohibited by the Universal Rules is prohibited in this forum. This means no flaming, no trolling, no spamming your signature or emoticons, and no mentioning hacking. Period.

  • Show Courtesy and Respect to Others
The forums are made up of a very diverse cross-section of the global community. Accordingly, we ask you to remember that not everyone speaks English as a primary language. That not everyone has the same education. That not everyone is of the same race, ethnicity or religion. That not everyone will have the same opinion as you will. Treat each other with kindness, respect and tolerance, just as you would expect them to provide to you in turn. This is not a request. Any user who is deemed to be showing malicious posting behavior towards another member of the forum community or a member of the AE staff will receive a minimum of a Warning. More significant consequences are possible depending on the severity of the post(s). This also means that any manner of criticism directed at either players or staff must be constructive in nature. See the post below for more information about constructive criticism.

  • Posting Design Notes
If you would like to post a Design Note thread on the forums, you are required to have the thread fully formatted BEFORE you post the thread. There is a "preview" button right next to "ok" to submit the thread. If you need to check to see that everything is in order, use that. It is not a race to see who can post the Design Notes first, or see how quickly after the Design Notes are made that you can post them on the forums. Quality is highly valued above speed in this case. If you want to try your hand at posting the Design Notes, but are not sure how to properly format them, you can look at previous Design Note threads for an idea of how it should look, and read this thread about Forum Commands to learn how to properly post pictures, links, text colors, etc. You may also PM any one of the ED GD forum staff listed here and ask them if you still have questions about properly formatting the Design Notes. If you are unsure if they are right or not, do NOT post them and assume one of the forum staff will "fix" your problem. Your thread will be deleted and room made for one that is properly formatted.

  • No Suggestions
This is a discussion forum, which means that any suggestions, be they for a game or for the forums, do not belong in this board. Please see the Forum-Specific Rules & Complete Forum Index for further information. Balance suggestions belong in their designed forum, EpicDuel Balance.

  • No Duplicate Topics
If you have a topic in mind, please search the forum to see if someone had it first. If there is already a thread about your topic, please read it first to see if it covers your discussion. Posting a new thread about a topic already being discussed creates spam and only decreases the quality of discussion in each thread.

  • No Spoilers
It is important that everyone be allowed to enjoy the games and the thrill of discovery. In recognition of this fact, please make considerable and appropriate use of spoiler tags.
    [spoiler]Text to hide[/spoiler]
Please use spoiler tags for any content that may spoil the game for other people, and recognize that the use of such is absolutely mandatory for recent game content.

  • No Game Account Issues
If there is something wrong with your EpicDuel game account, please use the Help Pages. No one on the forums can help you with any game account issues, so please do not post about them in this forum.

  • No Begging
Begging for Membership, an upgrade to any of the AE games, special equipment or extra in-game currency is not permitted. Do NOT do it at all, not in PMs, not in threads. There are no contests for which an upgrade is a prize, either. In addition, with the addition of the "Fame" feature, do not create topics or make incessant posts begging for fame.

  • No Spam/Whining Threads
Please do not post in a thread unless you have something to add to the topic at hand. Do not post off-topic chatter, do not role play, and please make your post simple and easy to read by avoiding things like oversized font, unnecessary colors or all caps. In addition to refraining from spam, please refrain from creating threads with the sole purpose of complaining about things in the game, such as lag. Well-reasoned discussions will be permitted, as always, but threads that exist purely to complain and whine will not be allowed, as these threads are prime targets for flaming and trolling.

  • No Hacking Accusations!
This is stated in the Universal Rules but it needs to be said again. Do NOT post in ED GD with any hacking accusations about anyone. It is not allowed. This includes any questions about a player's equips, name, skills, classes, armors, or anything else that has a staff member's name in the item's name or after it. Contact one of the in-game moderators using the "Report" function. Do not post about them.

  • No "Financial" Discussions
Artix Entertainment appreciates every player, no matter how much he or she has spent on the game. Demeaning players because they have not upgraded, or vice versa, will not be permitted in any form. Since such discussions tend to devolve into flaming, we will no longer permit users to create threads about any sort of financial status. That means no Varium vs Non-Varium threads, no Free Player vs Paying Player threads, no threads about the unfairness of Varium prices, and so on. Anything related to finances will not be allowed. If you are unsure if the topic would be acceptable or not, ask the head moderator for permission before creating it.

  • No Image Tags
Do not use [image][/image] tags in this forum. Please provide any relevant images in link form.

Lord Barrius -> RE: =ED= EpicDuel Discussion Forum Rules (6/16/2013 19:44:06)

Remember that all posts in these forums must provide constructive criticism. To help you with this, follow the advice below. Remember, this rule applies to ALL forums in the AEF, not just ours!

    quote:

    Constructive Criticism

  • What is it?
Constructive criticism is being able to process and offer your own thoughts and opinions in order to give courteous and friendly feedback. This is done by explaining what you like and dislike, while at the same time providing feedback that is useful. This is what separates constructive feedback from ranting/complaining and flaming.

  • Does it help? How?
Yes! Constructive criticism helps because not only are you giving feedback about what you don't like about a quest/event, but you're also giving feedback about what you DID like in the quest. Feedback could include on such topics as statistics, more dialogue, more explanatory cutscenes, more fights - everything that quests or events would normally include. This gives the game staff a better idea on future improvements.

  • Example of Constructive Criticism:
"I didn't partularly like this war because it felt too empty. To have made it better, I think the staff could have had a 50% cutscene to unlock rather than just a shop to progress the storyline. As it was, I personally was a little dissapointed that this war felt more rushed than previous wars, however I do understand that the staff had a lot on their plate when making this release.
That said, I greatly enjoyed the boss fight, the animations and art fit perfectly with the song that was playing in the background. So while not one of the best wars DF have done, I still enjoyed it. Thank you, DF staff!"

  • Example of Unconstructive Criticism:
"I didn't like this war at all. What were the staff thinking? The items in the shop were ugly, overpriced and were bugged!! No cutscene? That was never done before and it is not how it should be done ever. Seriously, doesn't the staff ever listen to us?! The boss fight was too hard and took forever to beat :( And there was no sound. I dont think the staff even care anymore. Best war ever /sarcasm I hate this game D:<!"
