You Call This Luck? by Genoclysm There have been many times in Lore's varying histories that events were considered especially lucky. Things just seemed to turn out much better than expected and the good guys wind up happy. Not quite ever after, but still happy. Things go so well at times that some begin to think that Lore's heroes are blessed with luck or watched over and aided to a great degree. While I must agree that Lore appears "blessed" with a special kind of luck, I do not agree that it is the good kind. Here's why: * Warning! Spoilers! * In the time of MechQuest, we were lucky enough to come across a dragonoid that allied itself with us. Soon after we lost both it AND a planet. It wasn't long after that Wolfblade was celebrating its third victory in a row in the house cup. Or at least that's what they would have been doing if their leader hadn't just been kidnapped. In the time of DragonFable, the hero was lucky enough to have found a cache of magical light crystals to make some potent weapons out of early on in his or her adventuring. It wasn't until afterward that everyone learned that an endangered species of sentient crystaline trees were nearly made extinct in the process. Everyone remembers the time we fought to save the town from Xan. We were lucky to save a single board from being burned in his onslaught. Yeah... that's "lucky" alright... In the time of AdventureQuest, some may recall being lucky enough to discover the vault of the Eternal and then persistant and/or skilled enough to get it to open. Of course it later turned out to have triggered a beacon for the Network to come to Lore when it was opened. "Lucky" indeed... There was also that one time where we were fortunate enough to gain the services of the legendary magical smith, Cysero. Too bad everyone misheard us due to a stuffy nose and we wound up with a circus bear suit. And then of course there was that dramatic entrance the hero was making in AQW before being struck by lightning and bouncing down a rocky cliff until finally plummeting a ways to the bottom. The luck there, supposedly, is that the hero even SURVIVED. I'm sure we can all agree that Lore is a lucky place... but what kind of luck do we REALLY have? Personally, I rather doubt it is the good kind.
