Eukara Vox -> OFFICIAL RULES The Work Table (2/12/2018 12:28:43)

The Work Table Official Rules In order to keep The Work Table in good order, there are important rules to follow. Below are these rules. Failure to follow them can result in a warning, thread deletion and locking, or a permanent ban from the forums. The Work Table, part of "The Workshop", is intended overall for bettering one's writing skills. The Critiquer's Corner is here to submit for in-depth critique requests. Collaboration teams are welcome to keep their work-threads in this section, in order to communicate and plan without commentary interruption from readers. The "Legends and Lore" Boards are part of the Artix Entertainment Forums: you must follow the Universal Rules. The Universal Rules are exactly that: Universal. They apply everywhere, at all times. Legends and Lore participants are expected to know and follow them. Note that claiming ignorance to rules is not a defense for breaking themall forum members are expected to read the rules before posting anywhere. If you have questions about the Universal Rules and how they combine with rules specific to Legends and Lore, please contact Master Samak, the Head Moderator for Legends and Lore, or any forum administration staff via a forum PM. When contributing your part to Legends and Lore, write properly. Grammar exists so that your writing can be understood. Ignore grammar, and few will follow along with your writings without working really, really, really hard at it, and that tends to lose a reader's interest. Therefore, to make your posts easier and enjoyable to read, use precise grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Organize your posts with paragraph breaks/line breaks so that your contribution is not a single wall of text. This helps keep the reader engaged. Your comments and content can be valuable to readers and writers alike, so imagine how a brand-new visitor would read your post. If they struggle to decipher your writing, you just get in your own way. Use The Work Table like it is a privilege. 1. This "The Work Table" forum section is for two things:a) Requesting a writing critique. b) Housing work threads for collaborators. Anything else should be posted in a more fitting location of Legends and Lore. 2. Critiquer's Corner here for you to request an in-depth critique. Critiquers in this system must apply and then be accepted by L&L staff in order to claim requests in Critiquer's Corner. 3. Constructive Criticism/Commentary does not involve a system of ranking. Do not ask readers to rank, rate, or otherwise score that your text meets "X" qualifications. Examples include grading (A-, B, C+) or declarations like, "On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the best, I give this a 2 because yeah it is interesting but there are minor issues that need to be dealt with." This is not very constructive. We focus instead on ongoing education and continual improvement. 4. To those requesting in-depth critiques: Realize that the people who offer help are donating their own time and efforts. Please respond to their comments positively (even if you don't use them). Once you are satisfied, send a PM to the L&L Staff to delete your critique request. 5. Collaboration work-threads are meant for those on that collaboration team. Anyone not clearly listed as a member of a collaboration team will have their posts deleted from work-threads. 6. The first post in a collaboration thread must include the following: a) The title of the collaboration and its label as "fanfiction" or otherwise. b) The name of everyone on the collaboration. 7. Once a collaborative work thread is not needed anymore, please PM an L&L AK or Mod to have it deleted. Maintain the family-friendly atmosphere of Artix Entertainment. Keep all content PG-rated. An artistic allowance of above-PG rating (film terminology for how suitable content is for an audience; Parental Guidance) is allowed within Legends and Lore, but not by much. Please keep the following in mind: - Excessive profanity, promotion of drugs, graphic violence, and explicit content are not allowed.
- Alcohol and tobacco are tolerated, but be sensitive and do not promote their use. The use of real-world drugs in your writing will be scrutinized. When in doubt, do not specify.
- Regarding violence, crime, or similar subject matter, writers MUST note that extreme detail, overly grotesque or gory material, or descriptions going beyond insinuation/inference can get you in trouble. Keep details to a level where the reader relies on their imagination more than your words.
- Regarding sex, writing about it is not forbidden, but again it is best left to inference. When in doubt, do not specify.
If a violation of the above rules is found, do not point it out in a comment. Instead, inform the L&L staff immediately via PM. If an issue arises within L&L (be it for clarification of the rules, an issue with a specific user, or reporting rule violations), the following is a list of individuals to contact: If you wish to report threads in violation of the rules, contact any L&L ArchKnight. If you have an issue with an ArchKnight, please contact the Head Moderator of this forum.
