eragonshadeslayer67 -> Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 10:47:56)

Limited quantity items, yes, we all love 'em and they're everyone rare collector's dream. but they are also the subject of people's horrors, because they r unable to get the items!

For example, I live in MST which is only 2 hours later than EST, but never once have I ever been able to get charfade's sword

I think a semi-solution to this problem is to release limited quantity items

1) during a saturday/sunday afternoon (so people half-way across the globe can wake up a little early or stay up a bit late to get the items)

2) in "bursts" and release X amount of equipment for the hour than X amount for the next hour until all the equipment that staff had planned to release were all out

Laos -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 11:17:21)

I totally agree. I've been lucky with the shops, but one way to ensure fairness to all players is to randomise the time that the shop is introduced. It'll have to be mentioned beforehand so people are aware that the shop is returning. Also, yes. I think the idea about releasing the items in ''bursts' may improve the fairness more.

Vick Vega -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 16:09:47)

I'd be more impressed if limited didn't mean refilled every Friday until anyone willing to buy one has one. That is hardly limited.

8x -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 16:17:42)

^100% agreed.

Absolutely! I agree....

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 16:45:08)

^ while that does make sense, there wasn't 1 single time where the limited items returned fairly for everyone, the 2 times when the items did return, it was around the same time and the people who couldn't get a certain item because of their time zone, they still couldn't get one the second time, this hardly makes a difference

it should at least return 1 last time where everyone more or less has a chance of getting an item regardless of a few hours worth of time difference

Vitodawn -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 17:16:05)

the gun and armor did restock on friday, for your information. all sold out now. however, perhaps something to clear up time zone diffs would help. restocking more than 3 or 4 of an item would be a plus, especially for whoever went to charfade right after me....heheh

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 17:23:12)

I have the same problem too turkey and USA has 7 hour difference :S

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 17:28:38)

^oh never knew, wonder if it has something to do with ur name [;)]

@vitodawn: I heard from a friend, but too bad it wasn't told in the release notes so I think only 1 person knew and he told his friends and then the news spread

Avantir -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 18:05:49)

I agree. Bursts would be best, but midday on a weekday wouldn't be bad either.

Gabriel Dude -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 18:10:16)

Limited items are ,well, limited lol they dont have to be doign them again. About the timezone thing is good[:)]

Digital X -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 18:11:43)

I'm fond of the "release in bursts" idea, i think that would work most well.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 19:34:14)

i like the idea becuase i bought Charfades sword with 16 left and i even live in EST so its tough for me which it really shouldnt be

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 22:04:26)

There is already a very specific suggestion of this. Who recalls the twitter discussion between Cysero and DuckOfDuckness (AndrewTheDuck, etc.)?

That blog of his has a very concluded and discussed way of resolving the issue.

EDIT: Sorry if this isn't allowed but here is the post.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/27/2011 23:49:09)

Or they could stop releasing items that few players will be able to enjoy just to make a quick buck off the buyers and instead give us legitimate long lasting items all players will be able to enjoy. But I digress.

Nightwraith -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/28/2011 11:08:44)

I like the idea of more limited quantity shops throughout the world. That would thwart people who try to camp by one vendor to boost their rarityscores. I think Cysero's post addressed several of the problems with the proposed solutions to limited quantity shops, namely the fact that no matter what we do, there's someone who will feel left out. I also feel that we could do a better job of communicating when a new quantity arrives in any given shop so we'll work on that for future releases. Maybe a midnight or Saturday morning shipment after the initial release?

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/28/2011 11:36:55)

I have never had a lv32 or any varium so feel free to shut this idea down at ur leisure.

what if they did limited items as they do now [with the random times to make it fairer ofc]
and then also have the item available all the time for an increased amount of varium and/or credits

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/28/2011 12:22:36)

cred only items dissapear fast. a re release of the items would be good but i dun think it would happen.

1. I agree with making things available for variable timezones.
2. Please stop continuosly releasing limited items in an unlimited fashion.
3. Why does it matter if people buy it for rarity score or to fight with? (I am not one of those people. I have achieved top ten rarity status without a single repeat item. I am just curious why that matters.)

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/28/2011 15:28:51)

@The OP.What is epicduel? It's a business. At first i wasted my time creating topics on unfair things in game.Nobody held back in telling me the hard truth and i'm doing the same here now. It's not about fair or unfair. It's business. The primary target here is to make money, you do this through various tactics.

Go google ''sales tactics'',seriously no sarcasm here.Sales tactics often include statements by the company/corporation that aren't in any particular rule book or written in stone anywhere, this means they're subject to change at any given time even if it effectively means that the company lied to you, weird yet?

Notice how the charfade items only had a limited amount? They even had a counter saying how much were left, when a player sees that, normally the younger crowd,no offense...Immediately they jump at the first chance to get these ''limited'' items. And what happened? They restocked them.

So now the reason the people spent real money on the items in question is down the toilet, since if almost everyone can buy one, what is so limited about them? The reason they restocked them wasn't to give anyone else in the world a fair chance too.

I'm being as nice as i can in saying this,in short...They didn't restock for the reason most people think, the weird time at which they restocked should be a big enough hint. They simply saw how successful the previous batch worked and decided that firing another batch won't hurt...THEM.

Watch closely,in the future there will be more ''limited'' items, they'll begin to appear so frequently that having one just means you have another ''limited'' item, the reason you buy it for will be void and no longer matter, since every other week a new ''limited'' items will come out.

It's business, the way it works man. It's not a coincidence, the primary task a business has to accomplish is to gain as much as possible by wasting as little as possible resources. Why am i giving you an economics lesson...[:D]I'm sure you're in high school or have passed it,so you get the idea.

The UnleaShedWolfZ -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (2/28/2011 16:04:40)

I Agree , Same Time In Here (Lebanon ==> USA) 7 hours. (Like Turkish)
Also , I Bought 1.250 Variums At 12:00 PM With My Mobile Cz I Didn't Want That Warbot Armor To Sold Out :S
Limited Quantity Items Are Fast Sold Out Items , Really Fast :S

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (3/1/2011 0:58:08)

@Nightwraith: I understand that not everyone isn't going to be content but the problem I am emphasizing is that the 2 charfade re-fills ("3rd" one is too small and hardly anyone knew about it) benefitted the exact same group of people as they were released on the exact same dates around the same time, course there's NO way to benefit everyone but the point is it never did benefit anyone else other than the small group of people that are able to log onto a flash game on friday afternoon

Vitodawn -> RE: Solution to Limited Quantity Items (3/3/2011 1:18:38)

About deadlypoisons post, my post is kinda from a mindless players view, but I know what you mean. Even then, the number of space warriors, for example, is 1400 (something like that) because 1000 at the start, 100 restock, 20 every update or two. Limited rare actually goes fast, in a period of two hours, the stuff restocked on the 25th Friday was all gone. And a good chunk of it was not by me.
