Giras Wolfe -> Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 13:16:07)

I have talked before about nonvarium being way too weak, making this game unplayable to anyone not willing to pay $10 for very weapon he has (but the price of varium belongs in another discussion.)

How do we make them less underpowered? How much should we decrease the "stat gap" between varium and nonvarium items?

First of all, I will provide this: Nonvarium armors should get the same def/rez boost as varium ones, just with less stats. Their weapons don't have reduced damage bonuses, why would their armors have less defense and resistance in addition to fewer stats? Give level 28 armors the +8 they need, and level 25 ones the +6 they should have.

Next, I think we should rescale all nonvarium items to be exactly 4 stats less then varium items of the same level, credit price, and rarity level. That way, nonvarium players will only have 16 less stats then normal players, in addition to a much smaller weapon selection and higher stat requirements on their weapons.

This way, nonvariums will be reasonably competent. Will this reduce the value of our varium? I don't think so. Varium is supposed to give us an edge on nonvarium players, right? But if nonvarium players never play, there's no advantage. If we decrease the gap to the point where nonvariums are willing to actually play the game, we can enjoy a large, but not excessive advantage over them.

Fixing the stat gap between varium and nonvarium players is essential for this game in so many ways. It will address the blatant LIE that this game is free to play. I define a F2P game as one I can enjoy without paying money. AQW is one of those games that treat their non-payers with respect. Maybe that's why they have an active player base of something like 16 million? This game cannot be enjoyed at all at high levels as a free player. Don't believe me? Go fight 10 1v1 battles and see how many level 30-32 players are nonvarium. If you are lucky enough to meet one, ask him how he feels about his win rate.

If you treat nonvariums with respect, more will play giving a larger player base (that means more $$$ for ED from ads. Hey, there's another idea, put ads under the game that can only be removed by buying varium for any character on your account. This would increase ad revenue and provide a more superficial motivation to buy varium.) If nonvarium players play the game for longer more of them will eventually decide to buy varium instead of just leaving (again, more $$$ for ED.) Also, this will get nonvariums actually PLAYING so variums can get an increased win rate from their reasonably sized stat advantage. This will actually INCREASE the value of varium (Which again means more $$$ for ED.)

As you can see, evening out the playing field between varium and nonvarium players would make this game true to its F2P title, increase revenue for the game in the long run, and bolster the win rates of varium players. There's no down side, nonvariums are simply treated horribly now and this must be addressed on a large scale.

Post your thoughts, suggestions, and amendments to my ideas of how to make this game more playable for F2Players, or just support/not support this motion. Thank you for your time.

od -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:19:36)

Nice idea, and since f2p can only plausibly get about 8 enh. slots and p2p can max out at around 16 ( on average) it makes it a total of 24, which is pretty fair

Santa ClawZz -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:23:41)

I like the idea where ads put by admins can only be removed if you're a varium player. That's what RuneScape does and it turned out great.

5rr5 -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:28:30)

JUst for we talk about it it's not gonna be that way u want

Shocka -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:30:36)

I say for weapons this is a good ratio

Varium: 32 damage 24 stats 10 enhance
Non Varium: 31 damage 18 stats 8 enhance

Because 1 damage is almost negligible if you have a great build. 6 stats is the main advantage. 2 enhancement slots are for the dedicated players
Smart non variums can beat average variums with this ratio which is good. Brain over Brawn. Tactics over Money

walking nightmare -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:35:52)

Then I want some of my money back because that ever happened barium prices should go down.

masterspider78 -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:44:32)

you buy what you get and you sir "above" gotten what you payed for

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:51:43)

^ Don't be selfish, we get more than we deserve.

Great idea anyway, love having a toggle for ads on the bottom for paying players!

truc -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 14:56:14)

Not going to happen.

Coming from my words.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 15:07:33)

Come on guys why you being kill joys this is possible the greatest Idea for lessening the gap between F2P and Varium without making Varium useless

Wolfe i requimend you PM this topic(copy and paste after opening edit) to NW becuase he seems to respond more then Titan

charwelly -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 15:22:36)

This the greastest idea in a very very long time

King azwan -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 15:36:12)

Well Non-variams arent that bad. I mean look at New Hope, she is number 1 on 2v2 and a non-variam.

Phycho -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 16:53:17)

that seems like a good idea im a non-varium player lvl 30 and ive beat tons of varium players all you really need is a good build and play smart most of the varium players i get completely pownd by are the lvl 32s with massive stat boosts like the one guy i fought i counted his stat boosts and he had almost 100 stat boosts
right now only being a lvl 30 non-varium i only have a total of 43 stat boosts thats a differents of 57 stat points personally i dont really mind varium players being able to have higher stat boosts and stronger weapons thats the way it should be cuz they payed for it but non-variums need something to keep them interested in actualy playing the game and not just running

Evric -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 17:38:04)

nope i think non variums are good where they are
we varium pay for +8 armors and u just say non varium armors should be the same to me that is some serious bs
the day when non varium get +8 armors varium would have +10 and then wanna want an upgrade to wanna armors
that would be just unfair as i said in the first line ......Non-variums are good where they are

BlueKatz -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 19:11:50)

u must be joking, non varium now is horribly suck

a Varium owner with some copy build now can pwn a lot

Varium ONE ITEMS has like 10 more stats than a non varium weapon

so with 4 items, current it's like 10 LEVELS DIFFERENT

freaky amount

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 20:03:11)

Evric what class are you i want to show you something

Aere -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 20:05:23)

I'd want a refund on the majority of my purchases. We pay 50$ for a 10k package to get more then 8 stats, tyvm.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 20:09:37)

@aere there is this thing called impulse control that is the solution to your major spending on a game.

Anyway Varium users you are still getting your Edge Item Enchancements, Robots, More Stat points thats more than i can say for your average F2P user(no winning bot in arcade, no uber credits funds) Thats three definite edges right there how many do you want

FlyinMatrix -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 22:57:25)

@Aere , Varium upgrades shouldn't boost you forever...its meant to upgrade you for a while until something better comes out. I would call it 'Worth while"

ED Prince of Shadows -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/5/2011 23:09:19)

@Aere *ahem* enhancements

Aere -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/6/2011 0:08:19)

If you put 8 stats of enhancements on non-var items, no, it's only a total of 8 stats. Well, and +1 damage, but that's honestly not worth it.

@OWA, there is a thing called thinking, which is the solution to your being ignorant. I've bought 4 packages in the year and a half I've played. With this idea introduced, I'd want one; Founder's Armor.

Non-vars can enhance items, and get the Assault Bot from the Arcade. Would you spend money on a minuscule advantage (8 Stats) in a game where a better weapon will be out next month.

@Flyin, Varium should always give a sizable advantage, because it costs money. Spending on a useless (in terms of real life) product, should be worthwhile.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/6/2011 1:19:09)

@King azwan
reason y she is on top is because she is active and has good non var weps which are rare. Oh yeah and merc do well in 2v2 so u cant say all non varium are good in general.

to the idea of making a +8 armor for non var. well i dun quite like the idea cause people who purchase varium would not be so happy if they make it. +6 is good enuf. maybe +7 will do. Bout weps we need more class weps to be made. i dun really care bout the stats but it would be great if there are more class weps. most rare for non var are swords. more class weps might help non var mages and bh. most merc dun really need thier class weps cause as u can see they can just easily use a sword build without any problems. but i might need a strong dmg energy hammer in order to kill BT cause tank build against tuna have been render useless when the decrease the block rate. A full credit robot could help cause i find the arcade to be a scam and waste of battle tokens. i been wanting to try a robot build but sadly i cant because there are no full credits bot. Best non var class is merc. bh are weak cause they lack good class weps. mages are ok if they have rares but it takes thinking to win and a good build. while merc have it easy. they own in 2v2 and thier str build in 1v1 is somewhat effective.bh str build for non var have been made harder to use because of the stat requiments.

IMO. mercs should have more hammer skills. non var bh should get something like cadens and mjolnir. and there should be a all credit robot. these are what i think would help the non var and var community. BTW if people say i dun try any other class i have other alts i have 2 BH alt and a mage alt. so dun go roun saying i have not tried all clases ect ect and all of the ar non var.

Enhancements only non var which play at least 5h per day can do this. 5h of 2v2+npc. it is very hardfor a non var to get full Enhancements on most of thier weps.

voidance -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/6/2011 1:32:55)

If you want gear so bad do the Surveys to get you varuim, thats why they are there.

King FrostLich -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/6/2011 4:26:53)

@voidance:

And what happens now if all surveys are out and that you're not from Australia or in the US?

Note: Peanut Labs does not give good surveys when you're not in Australia or the U.S, they just give you the "Save at ShoeBuy by 10%" and thats it, it stays the same and no offer comes out in there for like 12 months.

On Topic:

Yes totally agreed. The stat gap of varium and non varium is so high that if all weapons of a non varium and a varium were fully enhanced, varium players have like 10 stat points higher than the non varium players have.

ReV3nGe -> RE: Nonvarium Players -- the solution? (3/6/2011 9:14:40)

Varium player are 2 op'ed but of course,they're paying players
My solution:
why dont they make a server only for varium players which gives more exp and gold ? so non mem cant be squashed [8D]
