Elf Priest JZaanu -> Removing varium enhancements (3/10/2011 21:26:32)

I had pondered how could this game balance between varium and non varium. Should Varium weapons have more enhancement slots then their non-varium counterparts, I think they should.
I feel, though economically it might not be favorable, if they removed the option of purchasing enhancements with varium, this would make players work in playing to earn those by credits for making their weapon stronger. This could indirectly balance the game a little, and give another reason to actually invest more time in the game.

What are your thoughts, would you favor or not favor, a credit only option for enhancing your weapons?

Competition -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/10/2011 21:33:20)

I don't want to waste a possible 5-month farming period just to fully enhance my Azrael's Bane.

Larcell -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/10/2011 21:34:48)

Well, there is a credit-only option for enhancement...it's just ridiculously priced. Even if there was no-varium involved for enhancements, nothing would really change. There will still be people with enhancements and some without.

This would be perfect if they implement gold drops to the quest coming soon

edwardvulture -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 2:11:06)

I agree. There are so many new players that just purchase massive amounts of varium and pwn everyone, but the enhancements are a HUGE part of the devs salary.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 2:11:57)

I personally feel all newer items now have a +8 extra for enhancements. That is a major addition to just buying the weapon alone. Adding to the drastic challenges non-variums have with their stats being so reduced and trying to compete compared to a fully enhanced weapon, this would make players work more if they choose to want that extra points instead of the simplified route of paying for it.

It seems to me, all weapons that will be released will be a touch stronger and to make them equal to a fully enhanced weapon of a prior release, one would nearly have to enhance the weapon fully.

It really serves no true point other then stat compression. If this form of enhancements never existed, how are weapons any different from past releases that had no enhancements just off of damage and extention of extra stat boosters . It is basically double dipping for one weapon's cost.

It is difficult to say how this will aid or complicate the game as it matures, but in my eyes, it's added a 3rd tier to the game, and a 2nd tier to paying customers.

I would prefer everyone stay close as possible with only some advantage for paying players not breaking gap even more.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 9:43:58)

I agree their is a 3rd tier of paying players that were able to purchase rares and fully enhance them all.
players who have purchased the regular varium gear and only partly enhanced them, get beaten easily.

I think the credit price of enhancements needs to be reduced massively. 5000 credits for 1 point ?
to enhance the armor and claws I bought, id need 60,000 credits. on top of paying over 10,000 per
item at lv30+ varium AND non varium I cant see how purchasing enhancements can be achieved
without grinding for months. i could buy that varium by working 2hrs a week. seems excessive.

frogbones -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 10:22:16)

Great idea. Making it so people can't just copy a build and BUY their way to the top would be a great addition to the game. Making enhancement slots credit-only (and making it somewhat expensive) would mean most players would have to EARN their way to being a fully enhanced character.

Shadow Serpent -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 10:26:02)

No. But it is possible, IF they decrease cost on credit enchantments. 500k, just for 10 slots? I barely get 500 a day.

LamentationsXV -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 11:06:22)

That is nice JZ. It'll produce active players. But in that case I think the credit price should be slightly adjusted(Lowered).
Coz frankly speaking, my mind says they just made that ridiculous pricing so more players will resort to buying variums.
Sad but true. But I didn't say I don't understand or I'm against it.

I support this!

Raven God -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 13:23:44)

The problem is not about Enhancements being Varium or not IMO; its all about Varium being able to obtain them easily, while it is highly improbable (read: impossible) that F2P will ever be able to afford ANY Enhancements AT ALL with Credits alone. It surely defies this game's status as "Free-to-Play"

This issue has already been addressed countless times. True be told, someone has yet to do one thing to mend and make it fairer.

Enhancement credit pricing is absurdly high, that's a fact. I keep wondering how hard can it be to pay attention to the Forum Community at least for once.

voidance -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 15:54:37)

Weapons get outdated fast on here so dont you think its a bit unfair for someone to spend 300k on Frostbane or something then it get outdated?

Vick Vega -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 16:14:52)

Then just include the upgrades in the sell back value!

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 16:15:21)

If the system ran for credit only, it would definitely need to be reduced to a level where it can be achieved. For full +8 to +10 enhancements is extremely difficult and time consuming. I feel if they reduced it where players can see an achievable goal, more players would work for it.

This would be not much different then aqw's reputation quests.

I am just not sure how this trend of +8 enhancements is going to lead, other then stat compression and having players extinguish their varium at such a rapid pace. This game has a challenge with cost structure for the average player.

Does the value of the game in regards to cost equal the enjoyment one would think they would deserve.

The game should find other areas, and it seems they are trying to give more varium exclusives beyond just weapons.

For my personal ideals, I had enhanced with varium with the first slate of weapons that came out with this feature ( Jester staff, Azrael Staff,Dragon Master staff, Axes of Fury, and both Tuna armors), since then I made up my mind I will never double pay with varium, so I will only enhance with credits. It has been tiring, but this form of this feature I just dont agree with for long term.

Tiago X -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 16:31:02)

Idea: Remove all enhacements. Now, refund everyone. This wold kill stat spam, and wold bring a hope up for balance.
Watcha' think?

Shadronica -> RE: Removing varium enhancements (3/11/2011 17:30:36)

The enhancements issue DEFINITELY needs addressing.

1. The price of the enhancements is insulting.

2. If you wanted to sell an outdated weapon with enhancements you get none of your enhancements back nor any varium that you have paid for the weapon in the first place. Such a terrible waste! Kind of like spitting in the eye of the person who feeds you. Sorry to sound so blunt but that is how it is perceived.

The enhancements should have been a one off buy that you could transfer to each weapon. That is what should have happened but its too late now.

I totally understand what you are saying Jzaanu ... the enhancements should have been a reward for the more active players who paid for them with a credit only system. Too late now too.

The only solution that I can see that is left open is to introduce the varium sell back which includes CREDITS only for your enhancements. That way you can use those credits to enhance another item.

In actual fact unless this issue is addressed then I cannot see our level cap being raised without an uproar about all our outdated lower level weapons being trashed with no compensation.
