Soliqe -> Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 1:44:50)

I noticed many people are concerned over the issue of "unfriendly competitors" in EpicDuel. As there will always be a sour apple in the bunch, there are ways to make your game play happy and fun:

1. During battle, ignore all chat from ALL opponents. (excluding partners in 2v2)

We can be polite and civil while in battle but provoking players to become angry not only worsens their day, but it will make your day bad as well.

2. AVOID all crowded public areas.

If you're not wanting to hear Bob fight Phil over someone saying, "OMG Noob" then you should find a quiet room where there are little to no players existing in the vicinity.

3. If you have friends online, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITY!

Send them a private chat invitation, have a good friendly chat with one another, and enjoy the company of others while battling.

4. If you dislike someone on your friend list, why bother yourself with keeping them on there?

Wouldn't you rather not have to deal with the drama?

***CRUCIAL POINTER***
5. Do not get wound up over game updates!!!

This ruins everyone's happiness of the game. You cannot drive yourself nuts over waiting for an update. You can do other things that is more worth your time than fret over whether you're going to see weapons or not each week. Also, placing expectations of features such as, 2v1 Boss Battles, quests, etc. is not becoming of a happy player. Yes, they are indeed overdue for being released, however, you ruin the game for yourself by fretting over something so trivial as an in-game feature. Was Rome built in a day?

6. Play for enjoyment and don't take it seriously. <--- credit to eragonshadeslayer67

Why play the game if you don't enjoy it? If you can't see past a game's issues then you'll never find happiness in a MMO.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are some of the pointers I have so far. If you would like to contribute, please be civil, constructive, and beneficial to this thread.

Ignore other selfish people :3

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 2:51:19)

I'm not at all concerned with what people say to me on epicduel.If i stumble across some fully enhanced child that thinks they're better because they spent more money than i did,just ignore.That's all i do.

As for rome,it's not a game.Rome was much bigger than epicduel and required 10 times the man power and willpower to complete,therefore weak or illogical comparison.Nobody randomly sits infront of their pc and waits for 3 weeks,once again ILLOGICAL.

What are the players suppose to do?Play unbalanced 2v2 matches for another year?These issues are not simply people ''fretting over nothing''.It's the way the game is currently set up,yes it has GREAT potential and has sadly showcased NONE.It's not about being all happy chappy hippie type style,personally i wouldn't mind that.

But i can't even enjoy 2v2 anymore because of the lack of balance and there's no storyline in epicduel after longer than a year.Once again,how in all reality does this have anything to with an ancient city?There's too many issues in epicduel that need touches before it can ever become ''happy'' or make the players more kind toward each other.

Hi xX Lotus Xx

those are my views also. [:)]

PLUS Have fun.

pRopaaNS1337 -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 5:51:50)

I dislike random fights. Neither I have anything to say for opponent nor I enjoy that "hi-bye" routhine. Also atmosphere in fights is weird, because I`m not sure how to take opponent- harshly or friendly. It`s supposed to be an fight after all, we`re not supposed to be pal, but to fight.

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 15:12:39)

How about add this curcial point:

6. Play for enjoyment and don't take it seriously.

Various things like luck and inbalance also get people fired up.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 18:05:03)

Happiness and Epic Duel do not go together.

Practel -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 18:14:18)

Hi Lotus :)
How are ya?

Anyways onto the topic:
Do not engage into an ongoing argument.

It only leads to friends being removed, the people who were fighting getting a warning, and not enjoy the game.

@AngelsHolocost
Happiness comes to the game if you believe there is happiness, if you believe the game isn't full of happiness, it most likely isnt for you.

helloguy -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 18:16:08)

You cant be happy with a game that disappoints

Angels Holocaust -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 19:32:14)

@Holiday Practel

It's not believing that will bring me happiness. It's seeing it, it's seeing broken promises come to fruition. It's about having updates with CONTENT, not 5 minutes worth of trash put together for an update.

Clemsonboy7 -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 19:59:42)

I agree with everything lotus. I always try to enjoy the game as much as possible. I don't mind waiting for updates. Just find something else to do if you're tired of waiting.

And Deadly Poison: "Rome wasn't built in a day" is an EXPRESSION. It's not meant to be taken literally

Fay Beeee -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 20:38:02)

If you get no pleasure from the game, why play?
Or is the pleasure you get 'no pleasure'?
All the time I enjoy it, I will play. Until the time comes when I do not. Then I will stop.

Soliqe -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 21:17:38)

Personally, this game hasn't disappointed me. Well, excluding price inflation...

If you can't see past the issues of the game why play? What MMO does not have it's own issues?

Game are meant to be fun... not to drive a person into thinking if they aren't recognized within the community they're doomed forever.

helloguy -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 21:39:06)

These issues aren't in the "past", there here and now. This game's progress is worryingly slow. if the admins cant even predict or even give there costumers information about there releases then there not really doing a good job.
~~~~*MvZ!k!
Soliqe -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/15/2011 22:57:11)
@helloguy
They actually are giving out information. It's just not always on the design notes. Titan and Nightwraith always post update information on Twitter first.
Practel -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 10:17:21)
@helloguy
Titan and Nightwraith happily give out info about releases on twitter all the time.
Quote = Titan "My beard is now mechanical! http://www.epicduel.com/charpage.asp?id=Titan.. I converted into a WarBot, you can too later today!" He said this almost 6 hours before the release.
Quote = Titan "Second update this week! Happening later today at www.EpicDuel.com!" Giving us another hint that the update was that day.
Quote = Titan "Personal Character Pages, the Pathway to the Bazaar, and a critical patch going live later today! www.EpicDuel.com"
Quote = Titan "Character Pages coming soon! www.EpicDuel.com"
Quote = Nightwraith "http://www.epicduel.com/charpage.asp?id=Nightwraith" He was showing off his character with new weapons coming out.
Quote = Nightwraith "Should be going live soon. Testing is wrapping up and hopefully AQW won't crash the game network...again...>_>"
Quote = Nightwraith "Azrael's Bane http://twitpic.com/3u6o6t" He was showing off azreals bane days before the release.
Quote = Nightwraith "The Forging of Azrael's Bane: http://www.epicduel.com/videos/ If only I could work that quickly IRL!" His tweeples got the first look at the forging of it.
Now, to sum it up, they do tell us whats coming, to say they dont after reading that just makes me wonder.
Larcell -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 10:43:01)
I'm sure we will all be satisfied with Epic Duel 2.0's release tomorrow. Let Titan and NW take their time to get what we want. If it weren't for those two, Epic Duel would be an Epic Void.
Nightwraith -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 13:10:00)
Amen to the OP!
@Angels Holocaust
I'm sorry that you EpicDuel brings you no joy, but honestly, it's supposed to be a game, and if you don't like playing, quitting is as easy as closing your browser. There's not even a box or disc to throw away! At this point maybe you're shouting at a cat, wishing it were a dog. EpicDuel will never bark for you, and for that I apologize.
Cinderella -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 13:18:48)
@helloguy, I'm sorry that you are disappointed. However, keep in mind that even AQW- which has a much larger staff- often has to scale back updates. Nightwraith has even addressed this directly- they hesitate to make too many promises because of the fact that they've been overambitious with time. EpicDuel's staff consists of Nightwraith, Titan, and Charfade, and I guess this is also to address Angels, art and code take time. Titan's doing a complete overhaul of the code, and that definitely takes longer than 5 minutes (if you can code an entire game in 5 minutes, I'd love to see it!)
voidance -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 13:31:36)
I totaly agree with Nightwraith, nothing says you have to play, quitting is simple. Besides if you really think this game makes you unhappy you must like being miserable because you have played this for a LONG time.
PS: Whoa did Angels holocaust just get 1 hit k0ed by Nightwraith?
Larcell -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 15:03:07)
^ Lol, and people complain about mercs being able to 2-turn. NW just introduced the 1-turn. [;)]
Drianx -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 16:22:55)
@Cinderella: Perhaps Titan might need a helping hand from other AE programmers so this overhaul doesn't take forever?
@NW: Sorry but I disagree: the "our way or the highway" attitude doesn't help anyone or the game.
@voidance: for someone who is relatively new and calls others "fkin noob" when he loses, I think you teach a bit too many lessons.
voidance -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 20:19:08)
Whoa watch the langauge bro, i might have called you a nub but not a F bomb. And How am i new i got 3 lvl 32's (2 4 stars and a 5 star, not to mention my 3 champ badges, 2 2v2's 1 1v1) so just because you only see one account dont mean its my only one.
Oh btw k0 much.
truc -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 21:57:35)
I remember me mentioning Angel's makes most threads, and posts of saying how much this game is awful and waste of money.
Perhaps, Angels you can quit ASAP, we don't want to hear you complaining at all.
By the way, why would you have the right to say in other threads this game is taking your money.
Look at you, hypocrite much?
You can hate me Angels for what I am saying but I'm being honest, your complaining does not help at all.
helloguy -> RE: Finding Happiness in EpicDuel (3/16/2011 23:23:09)
We can complain all we want, theres nothing against it :P
