Its a game, and it needs to be as random as it is - what else is going to give level 27's the slightest chance of winning to level 32's what else is going to allow for the scaling to be 5 levels apart. If the luck was reduced, people may settle into particular builds that are almost guaranteed to work over most others until there are only a few builds, little variety and who goes first deciding who wins. and yeah, criticals are random enough, for all you know that person may not have had a crit for hours before that anyway? and if it only reduced damage by 75%, we could have more trouble brewing by strength builds, which are the very common builds at the minute, and the fact that they put their strength up at the cost of dex means that the best advantage vs them is to use dex to block them a large amount of the time, not take 25% as blocks arent manicly common to most and are a relief to most when they come, although there was this battle i was accused of hacking because i blocked six times in a row, and won without taking damage a person two levels higher than myself at the time..
