The best thing you can do to avoid this to clear your cache after every update and make sure you play EpicDuel in it's own browser window. The way Flash works when you have ED tabbed is that it doesn't update the game even though it's still running. Tabbing out during your turn often a causes skipped turns.
Of course, nothing is perfect and sometimes the servers do suffer from lag when there a large of number of players on.
@m16dern warfare: I would suggest faster performance too if you're missing turns frequently. If you set to smooth animation, the animation on your end might be taking too long.
