Retrosaur -> Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/9/2011 22:38:21)

Here's my guide on basic common courtesy within EpicDuel. Most of you should know this, if not, try it!

Everyone knows that common courtesy is the way to have others respect you. Dale Carnegie's book "How to Make Friends", exemplifies that common courtesy is one of the ways to really get people to think and rationalize with you. Thus, I am in the process of writing this guide so that others may also learn and follow the ways of the Force (:D)

I have seen a lot of hatin' in EpicDuel as well lots of lovin' in EpicDuel. I have played matches against ragers, or trolls (although I do find them mildly amusing). I have played matches against competent people. And one thing that separates the men from the boys, or the women from the gals is courtesy.

The first command is /spawn. Nah just kidding :D (Minecraft reference).

The first thing you should try is before beginning a match is saying "Good luck". Most of the time I play against a higher level, or more varium, or lower level, no matter the circumstances, always say "Good Luck".
Now some of you may say that "Good Luck" could be used to troll others. Especially when you face someone five levels below you. What matters is that by saying "Good Luck", you "connect" with them; at least you don't go trolling "NOOB U SUK I GONZ PWNZ YOU MEHEHEHE". Whenever I play against LvL32-33, full variumed or not, even if it's obvious they have an advantage over me, I still say Good Luck, to which they respond "You too". Such greetings should be common around EpicDuel.

I once played against a particular fellow, who took my "Good luck" as an insult, as I had Energy Eggzooka (Sorry, non-variums). Then I trolled him to death, typing exactly what I have typed before here (i type fast), then all of sudden he was like, oh sorry. Then a week later I happened to play against him, and he even complimented me, saying, "Nice Build" (he said "Good Luck"). If only all players could be like that.
------------
ROUND TWO: Compliments

The best thing you can do to make others like you is compliment them. No, don't say "You have a sucky build, hooray, now it's an easy win!". Instead compliment them. Say something like, "Nice build.". Or you could say "Nice weps :3". Most players do this. However, I have met players who "flatter" me. DO NOT FLATTER (says Dale Carnegie). They tried to flatter me, then followed with a "Can I win?". Sometimes I let lower levels win if they have common courtesy like that. Because what I hate are people who go "Wow, nice build, I really like your weps, your pretty cool, your pretty pro." followed by a "CAN I WIN? PLZZZZZZ I NEED GP WINS NOW :D"

Anyways, that's all for now. I'll add more soon. Sorry for the slang, wish I had more linguistic capabilities. I'll prolly add a section on foruming (though there are rules and all).

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 0:03:19)

all people aren't equal, therefore all players are also not equal

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 0:06:32)

@above
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal
part of the preamble of the US declaration of independence

Retrosaur -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 1:22:27)

@zman2
Agreed, I'm in the USA, but I guess it depends on where you live.

Burned. -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 3:51:31)

@above: Bud, I think it's not the thing if where you live or something.
I think it's how you react to it ; To clarify, I'm just saying that nothing will happen if you don't give bad feedbacks and reactions to it right?

Light Stridr -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 3:58:42)

Generally, I tend to point out if the player has a really bad build (ie his/her skill points are everywhere). That usually lets them know they should try focusing their skill points.

I feel disgusted that someone could say that. EVERYONE is born equally regardless of anything. Documents such as the UN declaration on human rights specify the rights all humans are entitled to. No one is superior or inferior in the world.

@T.600: That is correct buddy I agree very much to you. Let's just take his post as an opinion, Don't take it too seriously. [:)]

We are all created equally and perfectly. God didn't want to make any superior man that controls everything right? Well, If He'd want what I think He'll do it by Himself. But He didn't. He made all beings to be at equilibrium. He is a very fair and loving God.
Just saying. [:D]

Fay Beeee -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 6:06:12)

So as I read it, it basically comes down to -

Treat others as you would wish to be treated
It you have nothing good to say, then say nothing
Be helpful, be nice and have fun. :)

This is also my philosophy.

Xxbbooxx -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 6:16:21)

If only we could post links ingame... i would so spam this to the ragers and haters (even though im the rager 1/4 of the time, when i get of stupid critical losing streaks [:@] argh!!!!!) [:)]

LambO -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 6:44:01)

How are we all born equally? That's a loads of bull really..
Yeah, people who are born with conditions such as Down Syndrome, babies that are premature & have to go on 1 of them life machine, we all did this, we all have it? No. We are not born equally, if we was nobody would be dying of cancer or all of us would be dying of it. Doesn't take a smoker to get cancer.

God didn't create me, my mum & dad did obviously.

We wasn't born equally. We all have different opinions, we all have different aspects of life. Just live with it.
Only thing we all have in common is the law. No man or women should be able to kill another, torture another & so on. That's where we are all equal.

born equal.. lol..

MY Opinion.

Sipping Cider -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 13:19:01)

When they say we are all born equally, the dont mean that we all are the same and have the same lives.
They ment exactly what LambO was talking about with being equal in the law.

So of course people will be "better" at epicduel than others, although you could argue with enough time and practice anyone can become great at it.

I would also like to see the epicduel community have a common curtesy towards each other durring battle. This would make playing the game a more enjoyable experience for me. After being put down from stuff like NOOB or U SUC in multilpe battles in a row i will take a little break from epicduel until new people have logged on and i have new people to battle.

I would also like to point out that i get put down for having varium items a lot. I understand that everyone should be treated equally, but the reason i will win more battles and have better weapons from varium was the whole point of purchasing it, so i get annoyed when people say U SUC just because i beat them or have varium stuff.

Zean Zapple -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 13:59:22)

I agree with you, more of this would be nice... But I find getting trolled by someone and then pulling a 67 crit on them FTW very amusing. Especially when they're five levels higher than you(When I'm on my alt)

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 14:05:32)

I did post a long reply, Im presuming it got moderated into oblivion.

the UN declaration on human rights was written by....are you ready for this.....other human beings lol, therefore its just as much of an opinion
as my opinion on the subject. if the USA truly believes we are all born equal then why do many states have a law against two mentally
handicapped people having a child together. and i dont mean caring for the child, i mean actually being allowed to give birth to a child.
no, we are equal when it suits others. thats it. human rights are broken all the time by our governments as yet another example of "equality"

EDIT: I used USA as an example because they are labelled as western civilization. nothing personal

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 14:13:43)

All people are not equal. Some are better then others some arent.
Note: PLEASE DO NOT FLAME ME THIS IS JUST MY OPINION!

The Game -> RE: Common Courtesy - Guide in EpicDuel to Treating Players Equally (6/10/2011 17:30:34)

Since people cannot stay on topic or can they behave and, over the course of the last few months, copious warnings have been posted in threads reminding people to follow the rules, I am locking this thread.
