PD -> Just a little something about enhancements to consider... (6/13/2011 15:32:25)

It seems we're all confused about whether enhancements are really good for anything. Let me say this. Before we start, you'll need to be a good visualizer. So please put on your creativity hats so that we can begin. First, let's start off with a normal battle. Let's imagine there are two people in a fight: Both people are level 32. Both have 80 Stat Modifiers from Weapons Both have the same build, with the same equips Now you see here, both have no advantage over the other. Both have the SAME crit, deflect, block, first strike, stun, damage, and every other characteristic. HOWEVER, let's say one of those people were to add the maximum number of enhancements possible. Let's say.... 35 Enhancements to their weapons. Now one person has 115 Stat modifiers, while the other guy still has 80. In this case, because of enhancements, one of them is stronger than the other. Now let's give the OTHER guy 35 stat points as well, because he enhanced everything to the max. Now both of them have 115 Stat modifiers from weapons. Basically, because BOTH persons have enhanced their weapons, they have gained nothing, lost nothing, nor have any gained advantage over the other. The luck factor rates are still equal, as is everything else, proportionately. Basically, because both parties have thrown money, or credits (or in some cases, a combination of both) in order to enhance everything to the max, nothing has changed. Now, I'd need to say that because enhancements are available to everyone, this scenario is normally repeated every day, just for different people with different weapons with different builds with different classes. It's all one of the same really when you think about it. We're all victims of this. As I was about to say, because enhancements ARE available to everyone else, when more than 1 person enhances their items, you become a victim of this. Because this is a pvp game, power is in relation to everyone else, meaning you MUST consider everyone else rather than yourself. When you enhance items, it does make YOU individually stronger, but in the perspective of everyone else, you're still the same as before - Just INFLATED (OMG RE-OCCURING THEME ZOMG!!!!) Enhancements only make you stronger when one 1 person is able to do it in the case of a PvP game where you fight other people who contrive for power and influence. Because everyone else can, the only reason to enhance is not to get stronger, but to maintain your power, as everyone's caught in the myth that by enhancing your items, you become stronger. If this were a Single player game, enhancements really would make you stronger. But because you're fighting other people who get stronger as you do, you're not getting any advantage. At all. But if there really is an advantage to what enhancements do bring, it's the statistical advantage over people who cannot afford to enhance their items, therefore creating mass power gaps and adverse differences, which really... are the bane of communal unity. I'm certainly not trying to defame ED by saying the bad things about enhancements. Rather, I'm giving an insight to what people commonly believe is truth. I believe that if we actually learned the truth behind everything rather than try to come up with our own reasons and scapegoats, it'd be a lot easier to arrive at agreeable and negotiable conclusions that wouldn't serve to hurt us in the future. BTW Illuminator, if you're looking at this, the SOUP thanks you for providing it a pre-made scenario as shown in this post.
