iPlay -> The Controversy of Delta (7/15/2011 7:44:05)

Many eons ago when there was a thing called balance, every class stood a somewhat fair chance against each other (of course strategy & wit played a part as well)
Today as it is, balance is looked upon as some strange definition, and this update has only brought more complications to the game.
I myself am disappointed at the outcomes of Delta. I was a Bounty Hunter before Delta, when I was introduced with Cyber Hunter and the other new classes, I was confused and let down. Yes, balancing is still probably the most significant issue, but I think something that could be just as an important factor in the gameplay experience are the class variations; and heres what I mean:

I thought the new classes would be,.. well,.. new. All that happened was some skills got shuffled around, resulting in Bounty Hunters being more like Tech Mages,
Tech Mages being more like Mercenaries & Mercenaries being more like God. I thought the Delta classes would be an evolution of the current classes
(who knows how that would be balanced, they really need to implement a new system) not just a mimicry of existing classes.
For example, Blood Lust was a Bounty Hunter only skill, if you wanted it on your build, you had to step up to change to a Bounty Hunter.
This skill was unique to that class, and in Delta not only did they replace it with an unproductive skill, they gave it away to Blood Mages.
The same happened with giving Malfunction to Cyber Hunters and Smoke Screen to Tactical Mercenaries, and Reroute to Tactical Mercenaries, and Poison to Tactical Mercenaries,
and Technician to Tactical Mercenaries.

I think these new skills (which are actually skills that we are already very familiar with) should have been brand new, skills that we wouldn't have been
exposed to before hand. That, or at least they could have made some new icons and changed the names of the existing skills on the new classes to maintain the class originality that was once present.

My main thought here is that there seemed to be a lack of creativity when it came to creating these "new" classes.
And someone has really gone out of their way to strip all of three original classes of their distinctiveness which they once possessed.

So with all this in mind, you really have to ask yourselves;

has Delta brought more variety, or more complications?

MrBones -> RE: The Controversy of Delta (7/15/2011 7:50:42)

It would have been much more fun to have 1 or 2 all new class with all new skills and new primarys. Of course the scope of work for that would have been much more heavy but right now, I don't think I am getting my money's worth.

Without any intends to bash the devs, if I compare what I get from a 60$ PS3 game (a game like Fallout 3 for example) it is pretty disconcerting. Still I like the game and will continue to support as I think this thing can skyrocket with the right moves.

Let's hope they get back on tracks.
