dont give up -> whats the point! (10/2/2011 14:50:36)

whats the points of assimilation if it dont take effect on reroute

PivotalDisorder -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 14:52:13)

it still steals energy so the they end up with less energy then if you just did strike.

can still be a match winning tactic.

/End Thread

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 14:54:35)

There is no point i have pointed this out multiple times and each time no one cares becuase it is a mage skill and no one cares about mages anymore

Soldier 1124 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 14:58:35)

I kinda agree. I believe that assimilation should cancel out the effects of reroute for the turn that assimilation is used. For example, i was battling my friend (Dont give up) when he assimilated me for lvl 4, which is -6. He did 8 damage, which gave me 3 energy back. so basically, a level 4 is reduced to a level 2 assimilation. That is not exactly the best thing for an energy reducing skill

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:01:37)

Also i would like to point out i have actully given more energy then i take with my Assimilate on more then one occasion which is not only counterproductive it is also completely annoying becuase you are left sitting there going, "what just happened, when they use that energy to kill you

Hun Kingq -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:05:56)

I have got into heated debates with staff about this issue but it does need to be modified due to tact mercs having reroute now. But when I bring up was to improve anything with either mage class I get attacked by players that play a Blood mage or a Tech Mage, especially by the class hoppers, or by the ones that think they know so much about the game when they know as much as the next player.

But my idea of returning and improving Assimilation to the Blood mage and improving it to meet the same amount of energy stealing as EMP and Atom Smasher.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:09:29)

you are going to give them that energy if you hit them, the bonus is you get some energy back and they don't regain as much. atom smasher and emp don't do damage.
its the downside to the skill. should blood lust and reroute be changed so poison damage also gives them health/energy back ?

goldslayer1 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:17:41)

quote:

that would take away its damage.

and EMP is unblockable while atom is blockable.
altho i do agree that this should be fixxed, i dont agree that it should be able to remove as much as EMp or atom while still doing damage.
EMP and atom are raised by stat points, while assim is by skills but assim is the only one with damage while taking away energy.
i say no more than 15 energy.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:29:36)

and they regain half that energy too Goldlslayer1.

On Topic
EMP is more of a defensive skill as it scales with tech while atom smasher is more offensive, as it scales with strength. neither do damage but cost energy.
assimilation damage is effected by strength but the amount gain/stolen is fixed and costs no energy to use, seems fair.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:32:40)

Fair would be if it nulled Reroute becuase it does such a little drain because it does damage as well and if you drain a TLM, which is most of teh community, or a TM, they still exist, it can be a pointless attack if you do not have points put into it

PivotalDisorder -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:36:21)

the end result might be pointless, but the skills purpose isn't. if a guy is one hit away from healing and you do assimilate and he ends up 1 energy shy of a heal that's
a good move. if tactical mercs didn't exist would you want the change so bad ? seems to me more of a tac merc issue than anything else. and we got plenty of those lol

I do like the idea of the energy stealing part being unblockable, like with smoke and malfunction. might help a bit.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:41:26)

I didn't like that mages where immune to it more then TLM becuase most TLM just STR you to death now or bot you to death back then while mages actully used skills and where immune to there own skill while no other class in teh game is immune to one of its moves

Hun Kingq -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:41:39)

Then EMP and Atom smasher should removed no more than 15 points at max as well. Since Assimilation does damage it helps the tact mercs regain energy and if it does 47 damage like I was getting then that is 14.1 energy return. Atom smasher does not return energy but when not blocked which I have noticed it is not being blocked s often especially when smoked it does 30 pus damage and takes away 30 plus energy. EMP takes very litle energy to use I noticed but can take away 47 points of energy at low levels I noticed but does no damage so that means no energy return for the tact mercs and the Blood Mage has no energy return at all.

So since Assimilation is blocked quite a bit more then the other two why not allow it to take away more energy since its is a cool down of 3, EMP is a cool down of 2, and Atom Smasher is a cool down of 2.

So just because Assimilation does the damage it does on the energy stealing side and the cool down side it is not fair and justified to the mage class.

added: show us where in this it improves with any stat:

Assimilation: Deals 100% primary weapon damage. Steals energy from an enemy target; adds 50% to your energy pool. (rounded up)

Energy Required: 0 (No Cost)
Energy Steal:
Level 1: 1 (Adds 1 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 2: 2 (Adds 1 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 3: 3 (Adds 2 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 4: 4 (Adds 2 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 5: 5 (Adds 3 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 6: 6 (Adds 3 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 7: 7 (Adds 4 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 8: 8 (Adds 4 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 9: 9 (Adds 5 Energy to Energy Pool)
Level 10: 10 (Adds 5 Energy to Energy Pool)
Weapon Required: Staff
Stat Required: None
Level Required: 10

Cool Down: 3

Atom Smasher: Smashes an enemy, burning their energy as a % of normal damage.

Energy Required:
Level 1: 6
Level 2: 7
Level 3: 8
Level 4: 9
Level 5: 10
Level 6: 11
Level 7: 12
Level 8: 13
Level 9: 14
Level 10: 15
Conversion:
Level 1: 46%
Level 2: 50%
Level 3: 54%
Level 4: 58%
Level 5: 61%
Level 6: 64%
Level 7: 67%
Level 8: 70%
Level 9: 73%
Level 10: 76%
Weapon Required: Club
Stat Required: None

So as you can see how can it calculate how much energy will be taken away if no damage is inflicted

@Hun Kingq: I am confused, are you saying atom smasher does damage ? it just takes energy based on a % of the damage you WOULD of done with strike.

goldslayer1 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:47:39)

@hun king
u say they will get energy back as if all tac mercs have reroute
i mean that it should remove no more than 15 energy, including fixing the issue with reroute

quote:

So since Assimilation is blocked quite a bit more then the other two why not allow it to take away more energy since its is a cool down of 3, EMP is a cool down of 2, and Atom Smasher is a cool down of 2.

other 2??
what other 2? i only know of another one that can be blocked aside from assim and that one requires a huge ammount of str.

secondly if u think assim does get blocked more than atom
then please do videos of u doing assimilation 1000 times with a certain ammount of dex VS someone with ur same ammout of dex.
than do it 1000 times with atom smasher with the same dex u used with tech/blood mage against someone with the same dex as u.
and then we shall see the end results
until then dont say assim gets blocked more than atom without showing any statistical proof

quote:

added: show us where in this it improves with any stat:

EMP improves with tech. and atom improves with str. then the % of what ur strike would do to the enemy is what it reduces in energy.
it technically increase with str even tho it doesn't say it in there.
i thought u would be smarter than to say atom cant be increased.

quote:

I am confused, are you saying atom smasher does damage ? it just takes energy based on a % of the damage you WOULD of done with strike.

actually no
its the % of the ammount of damage he would do on a strike if the enemy had 0 defense/resistance
lets say i usually do 50 strikes when u have 0 def/res if my atom is 50% energy take away then the skill will take away 25 when used.

however to do 50s if the enemy had 0 u need alot of strength.

Hun Kingq -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 15:58:38)

goldslayer1, I guess you forgot that Blood Mages don't have Assimilation and yes between the mage Assimilation and the Blood Mage Bezerker are the two most blocked skills I have seen both get blocked with low dex. When a mage uses Assimilation they prey that it does not get blocked and that is why you see so many mages not using that skill.

goldslayer1 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 16:00:31)

quote:

I guess you forgot that Blood Mages don't have Assimilation

im sorry i forgot it was removed from bloodmage.

i had 106 dex today and i had a 26 dex block me 3 times.
i also had on multiple occasions people with 0-5 dex block me twice. even tho i have 106 dex
its just bad luck and then a screwed up RNG

PivotalDisorder -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 16:03:57)

@Golds: Yeah ty for correcting me, I know how the skill works, just didn't explain it very well.
quote:

Atom Smasher: Smashes an enemy, burning their energy as a % of normal damage.

btw: was really just correcting Hun Kingqs comment about it also doing damage.
might as well ignore his comments again, he just fabricates it all from his imagination.

voidance -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 16:04:15)

I'm using a Dex/Str build atm with Blood Mage and it has 91 Dex with a +49 Boost which equals 140 and I get blocked all the time from people with 20-60 Dexterity.

ngshuyi94 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 20:18:15)

Assimilation is free of cost while the other costs energy points.

classifiedname -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 20:33:04)

wether its free energy cost skill or not doesnt matter. its a sucky skill againts those who have reroute, and i almost always end up giving more energy than i take and thats not helpful, especialy when they use that energy to kill u. what they should do is add something extra to it so that it ignors reroute or resistance or make it unblockable even, becuase giving more energy than you take isnt an effective stragety even if its a skill that cost nothing.[8|]

Stabilis -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 20:34:46)

Why does everyone have either reroute or static shock? [:-]

And then there is mercenaries and bountiees... they're all: Awwwww man Swiper no swiping

PivotalDisorder -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 20:48:55)

if they have 20 energy, you take 10 and they gain 15 from your attack, you effectively stopped them getting 25 energy back, gained 5 for yourself AND did some damage.

you get all that for free and still not happy?

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 20:52:00)

psib in most cases you use a drain skill to stop an enemy from suing a skill against you and using Assim agianst someone with Reroute makes that much harder if not impossible as you drain such a small amount(i use lv 9 Assim and it is still a tiny drain) while you end up giving more. This is becuase most people couple Assim with Malf for extra damage which is counter productive but it would be pointless to use it in the other order becuase then you dont get the regain affect

AQWPlayer -> RE: whats the point! (10/2/2011 20:54:03)

@psib
Fail attempt on trying to make assimilation seem awesome.
Reasons:
1. The enemy is proabably a tac merc and will heal because you couldn't take away enough energy
2. Enemy gets more energy back than we take
3. That must have been a lucky critical hit along with decent strength, which lowers defenses and support
4. No reason why a tactical merc would need 25 energy; all they need is 17 energy to have a massive 60+ heal
