I'm interested in Full Metal.

I just caution you that with something like this I will likely try to exploit it in ways you could not possibly imagine.

@astroking Yep... now if the NY version ends...

1girlhousefan -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/9/2012 7:09:58)

NO! I wasn't there when the bomb blew up! :(

Un67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 12:58:03)

OK guys, next time we play mafia, we play C9 and get replacements for people who quit. Also, I'm amazed that a) I managed to actually guess who the sole mafia was on the first day and b) we almost lost to a single person because we made ourselves so suspicious of one another.

Shreder -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 13:13:09)

Agreed. We can't play when people are leaving left, right and center...

steel blade -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 13:17:24)

I'll have to admit that I'm a bad Mafia-role player and was forced to forfeit before my inevitable end would come.

But imho, this is my worst Mafia game I've played yet, being a sole Mafia guy since I'm usually partnered with some comrades.

liamliam1234liam -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 13:41:21)

I agree, with a minor exception: there should always be a cop, for better balance purposes. However, it is unknown if there is a doctor, preventing the problems present in the original set-up.

And I like that this method starts in the daytime, which I have always found infinitely preferable.

PBlades -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 14:19:23)

I'll admit, I thought Un and liam are the Mafia after LDB's death- Un if there's only one. Lucky I never get forced to make gut-instinct decision. :p

super dude -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 14:20:58)

I'm going to have a shot at running a Mafia game, As I wouldn't be particularly active as a player, I feel (As someone who likes Mafia) it'd be best if I run it, that way everyone who likes Mafia and will be active can play instead of someone having to sacrifice them self as a player to run it. I'll wait and see how many people we get before deciding 100% on the roles I use, however I have a pretty good idea already. I'll put it up later today if nobody has any objections to me running it. While I agree C9 would be a good way to do it, I want to mix it up slightly more, don't worry it wont be unbalanced and I wont make the same mistake Epic Pie made and only have 1 Mafia.

Un67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 14:46:34)

Well, you all know who I thought was Mafia. And super dude, I wouldn't object as long as you moderate consistently.

Shreder -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 15:21:25)

I'm definitely up for another game, as this last one was rather...unfulfilling...

And frankly, while I agree that there has to be balance, I've always enjoyed Mafia games with more diverse roles than just the usual Cop, Doctor, Mafia and Townies. I think the most fun I've ever had playing Mafia was the one game I played the Fool.

Un67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 15:28:22)

Maybe, but those types of games are for more advanced players. No offense is meant for anyone, but none of us here in the UCaG is a really advanced player, save DoS. I'd rather play with the most basic setups for now and make sure that we all have a decent amount of experience and not do things that are seemingly anti-town while actually pro-town. I think we all kind of did that in the last game.

liamliam1234liam -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 15:35:38)

What? Lol, yes, you need to be an 'advanced' mafia player to play with other roles.

Maybe you are not comfortable with it, but I LOVE games that add in extra roles. That is why Starcraft Debates are so fun.

Un67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 15:37:44)

I just feel that simplicity is important when playing mafia and that it's bad to get bogged down into overcomplicated mechanics and roles. I like it the way it was originally intended - a psychological exercise.

super dude -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 15:45:45)

I plan on having some extra roles other then the simple "Cop, Doctor, Mafia, townies" but nothing so advanced that it'd be hard for newcomers. Again it all depends on how many players we get.

epic pie -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/12/2012 15:50:53)

Yeah, I would like to play one instead of moderate one.

WA -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/13/2012 0:02:12)

Well, you guys may have noticed my recent absence, which was due to a bunch of reasons, but most recently because of my grandfather's death. I've had a lot of time to think, and I've decided that I will do that Genesis remake I was planning, but it has taken a bit longer to make than I expected.

steel blade -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/13/2012 0:33:30)

@liam Wait, you play the Starcraft Mafia too? Cool.

super dude -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (5/13/2012 0:38:22)

Heh, I also play the Starcraft Mafia, pretty fun.. When people aren't trolling of course, maybe it's different for the US one, but there's a metric ton of trolls and stupid people on the EU Mafia, although that might just be when I play it, you occasionally (Well OK, quite often) get a good game with smart people.

Kosefira -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (6/1/2012 3:45:52)

A new rule has been implemented:

quote:

Only one Game Master is permitted per game. You are allowed to talk with other forumers to plan and develop ideas the game, but only one person is allowed to officially run it.

If you are a co-GM at this point, you will have to relinquish your position immediately.

PBlades -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (6/1/2012 4:30:30)

Any reason?

steel blade -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (6/1/2012 11:10:25)

Wait, so will collaboration games be affected in this rule?

EDIT: Just read the Hunger Games OOC and saw Supes' post about getting killed by a swordsman whilst in Inquisition, he killed a swordsman. That swordsman...would be me. [:D]

kkutwar -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (6/1/2012 14:31:07)

So people don't just decide what happens. Normally I'm against the concept, only following through if asked and they may be gone too long. In retrospect being allowed to update and having helped create NPCs is just going to end horribly regardless of the Co-GM's intentions. That, and even if they're doing fine things just get complicated with two GMs regardless. Ever felt like you were just saying things without really thinking about what you're doing? Regardless its just not good having two people updating the same game for the following reasons: One, they would potentially have conflicting ideas on what to do with the story. Two, some players might not like one of them. Three, one might have issues regarding some of the players. To be simple, the Co-GM System is pretty much asking for trouble to happen. Note, don't try to update a game under the following: You're being rushed to go somewhere/get off the device and you keep getting distracted as your focus on the update structure isn't probably going to be swell.

Highlord Sendai -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (6/1/2012 15:24:02)

So, regarding this rule, would it be ok for Kkut to keep his current post up on The Hunger Games (recent update), to avoid disruption regarding other forumites having to delete and re-post their post.

Kosefira -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (6/1/2012 22:46:11)

In terms of collaboration games, it's fine to work with other forumers as long as only one member is making updates and handling applications.

Current Co-GM updates can be left, but no future ones can be made.
