Don't you just love the block system, lol your one hit away from wining, BUT Wait the enemy block's, and block's and block's
Dam.
How does the Block system work anyway?
I know it has something to do with dexterity but how does it work
Does it work better if you have higher then your opponent?
Or is it all based on luck?
Can some one explain this for me?

Yea, i know there's a question and answer post, but that thread is all squished together and there is no guaranty that you'll find your answer.

Who doesn't have issues?

I assume it works like AQ.

quote:

[13] Hit or Miss? (Accuracy Formulas)

Attacker Value (weapon) = [Weapon BTH + Armor BTH + Stat BTH]
Attacker Value (weapon special) = [Weapon BTH + Weapon Special BtH]
Attacker Value (spells) = [Spell BTH + Stat BTH]
Attacker Value (pet/guest) = [Pet/Guest BtH + Stat BtH]
Roll = Rolls a Random # (1-100)
Defender Value = [Blocking Defense + Dex/10 + Luk/20]

If Attacker Value + Roll > Defender Value, then it hits. Otherwise it misses. Certain special actions, like healing spells, will always hit.

Chance to Hit

Chance to Hit = (100 + Attacker Value - Defender Value) / 100

Your weapon, armor and stats all affect your BtH(Bonus to Hit(accuracy)), the monsters Blocking Defense(combat def.) and stats also facter into this chance.

ex:
Chance to Hit = (100 + Attacker Value - Defender Value) / 100
(100 + 10+10+12 - 30-15-4) / 100
(100 + 32-49)/100
83/100
=.83

or a 83% hit rate.

Basically it comes down to pure luck but equipment and stats can alter the chances of it.

Just to add:

Any armors and weapons have BTH.
You gain bonus BTH from your DEX and LUK.
The formula is [ ( DEX/10 ) + ( LUK/20 ) BTH ]

If you have 200 DEX/LUK , you get bonus to BTH = [ (200 DEX/10) + (200 LUK/20) ] BTH = +30 BTH.

200 DEX/10 = +20 BTH
200 LUK/20 = +10 BTH

So, you might want to train your DEX first.

Having both 200 DEX/LUK would make it much better to get high chance to block.

The most high level armors(Battlesuits) have +15 BTH
If you have +15 BTH(from an armor) and +30 BTH(from your stats 200 DEX/LUK), you will have a chance to block
= [ (15 + 30) + Melee/Ranged/Magic defences ] %
= ... % chance to block.

  • Remember, all the monsters also have a chance to hit from their weapons, abilities etc.

  • So, you will never have 100% chance to block.
However, there is a possible to have 80% - 95% chance to block against weakness monsters or monsters with 0 DEX/LUK . :)

    quote:

    [3] Stat Bonuses to Hit

Stat Bonus to Hit adds to the likelihood the attacker's hit lands against a target.
The increase will not guarantee that you will land more hits,
but the chance of any attack landing will improve accordingly.

    Melee Weapon/Skill: [STR/16 + DEX/16 + LUK/20]
    Ranged Weapon/Skill: [DEX/8 + LUK/20]
    Magic Weapon/Skill: [INT/16 + DEX/16 + LUK/20]
    Spells: [INT/16 + DEX/16 + LUK/20]
    Pets & Guests: [CHA*7/60]

A few skills and spells use different formulas for stat bonus to hit.
Other than weapons that use their "special" attack every turn,
most weapons do not take stat bonus to hit on their specials.

    quote:

    [4] Blocking Ability

    Blocking Bonus from Stats: [DEX/10 + LUK/20]

I'll leave this to moneybags or someone else to fix it if I'm wrong since I'm not doing the WF pedia for a long time ago. Thanks. :)

    Can i ask?
    What the heck is BTH?
    Just curious
    it sound's important.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: Block System (12/12/2011 22:44:15)

    Bonus to Hit. It's "Accuracy."

Bu Kek Siansu -> RE: Block System (12/13/2011 2:27:06)

DarkXstyle: Hmm I think I need to explain about the BTH = Bonus to Hit. :)

When you play one of AE games you attack an enemy with amount of damage,
but sometimes you see on the screen like Miss which means it doesn't hit.

How to avoid Miss? You will never have a 100% chance to avoid Miss. You will never have a 100% chance to hit.
However, you can increase the percentage of chance to avoid Miss, you can increase the percentage of chance to hit with your stats.
  • Your stats: Strength, Dexterity, Intellect, Endurance, Charisma, Luck.

    Every weapon, armor(Battlesuit), Spell(Skill), Pet/Guest has BTH.
You can increase their BTH with your stats in order to increase the percentage of chance to hit and the percentage of chance to block as well.
See my previous post and afterlifex's post.
