RabbleFroth -> =ED= Official Froth Thread (12/18/2011 21:14:52)

Hey everyone! RabbleFroth here, newest member of the EpicDuel team. I've been around for a few months now, but didn't feel comfortable posting since I've been properly familiarizing myself with the game. Also I'm a bit shy, haha. I figured now was a good time to introduce myself since I'll be out of town for about a week and half and won't be able to do my normal development work. There's supposedly internet where I'm going, but no guarantees, so if I don't respond for a while, that's why. About Me 1. I'm a programmer. I approach most problems as a programmer, very analytically and systematically. Sometimes a good approach, sometimes not. 2. I love playing/developing games. Explains why I'm here, right? 3. I love to read. Currently reading Xenocide (Ender's Game 3), The Wheel of Time series, a book by the Dalai Lama, a Warhammer 40k book, and the Dune series. 4. I've spent around 8 years practicing Tae Kwon Do. To answer the most common questions I get when I say this: yes that's kind of like Karate, yes I have a black belt, and no I can't beat you or any of your friends up (EVERYONE asks that last one). 5. I play a mage in every game that has it as an option. Not 100% why. Probably the pretty colors. What I've Worked On So Far For EpicDuel 1. Server performance improvements 2. The retrain overhaul (no more retrains one level at a time, yay!) 3. The translation system which makes it possible for the game to be displayed in other languages. 4. Matchmaking improvements; speed improvements earlier, and last patch had some fairness changes that were overshadowed by the Frysteland event (not a bad thing). 5. The Frysteland event itself. Was a LOT of hard work to get this out, but was very fun to work on. We're paying attention to what you guys like and don't like about the event so we can make any future events like it more fun. My Forum Presence I'd prefer to be somewhat active on the forums, but I'd like to be clear about what I can talk about. I'll try to explain our development decisions where I feel it's necessary and where I can contribute to healthy discussion (meaning open trolling will mostly be ignored). Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to comment on balance discussions because I still don't feel that comfortable with the subject (right now others on the team handle that). Any questions about myself or work I've personally done is fair game. Conclusion Whew. As usual a little long-winded, but in short: Hello all, hope you get to see a bit more of me than you have since I started. [:)]
