nico0las -> RE: Was this game better off without AE? (1/6/2012 20:45:10)

AE provided things for ED that they would have crashed and burned without. I wasn't there in alpha, but from what I know, the game wasn't exactly booming. They added many things from their style (AE) into the game. Perhaps these were not welcomed by us who played in the earlier stages (Beta, early Gamma), however ED's addition to the AE family has proved good for both the game itself and AE. AE has more customers, ED has more players. It's all good right? Wrong. These changes were not welcomed. We, being accustomed to the original ways of the game, have been thrown out of our comfort zone for what is supposed to be the greater good of the community. Although some of these changes welcomed new players, us, the larger portion, remained angry. Maybe it is for the best. It's too early to tell. ED is changing. It's growing, becoming compatible with more people from all over the globe. The game will continue to expand in this way because it's what the team envisions will improve the game for all of us. Are they right to do so? Maybe not. Even so, these changes are already in place, and the way I see it, we have the choice of either leaving ED or sticking with it the whole way through. I understand some of us (those who have payed 150+ on the game) are very angry, but we don't know what'll happen. I for one am content with where the game is going. We have some...issues to attend to, that's true, but hopefully we'll learn from our mistakes. It's going to be a long road ahead, but hopefully, we can get it right. I wouldn't have known ED existed were it not for AE.
