MirageD -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 9:22:13)

another area that i'm concerned about is account sharing....i'm not sure how to prevent it, but i know it goes on.....several ppl will play the same account in order to get enormous wins and daily leaderboard achievements

any thoughts on this??

Wraith -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 9:24:26)

Simple...if that account is regularly played at different IPs...investigate. Like whether it's a home network, public network, or work network. Because a lot of people travel and okay at same time, but all home networks would mean many people play on that account.

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 9:27:34)

Well make daily shorten I said this before but everone thinks 24 hours is long to be honest account sharing isn't big deal if they are your family or long term friends.

MirageD -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 9:29:23)

@mir......i believe it is against the rules to share your acct with friends....it ruins fair competition.....it makes the one who doesn't share their acct, compete with 2 or more ppl playing the shared acct....it's not fair

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 9:33:59)

Im not say I do but lets say I want my brother to try ED or my family across seas like iran or montreal I don't see why not. My main goal would be to get them join ED.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 12:59:12)

There is 2 simple way to stop dummying forever :)

1) Dont count challenge wins on record

or

2) Put a challenge limit per day like 20-30(so ppl can maximum do 20-30 dummy per day which will not effect game much like +100-150 dummy wins)

but no Developers want players dummy, they show it with their action, no precaution is made and dummiers always unban and return dummying again. There is a guy i dont want to give name he baned +5 times and still dummy he has 50-60k wins probably 30-40k of them is dummy, how can this type of players still can be in game i dont understand.

comicalbike -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 13:24:36)

i do hope the dummying stops as the game is spoilt now completely i say any challenge = 0 wins then no problem but at the moment why be in a faction waist of time. now the game is spoilt and no fun i do hope this gets sorted this week

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 15:48:38)

I think reseting a character back to lvl 1 with no new items is a bit harsh, I would suggest getting a dummy achievement, that deletes all your other achievements, except for beta tester, alpha tester, etc.

Sparticus -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 20:46:53)

I love the idea that challenge matches don't count towards your win/loss. Stops the faction cheats and allows players to spar without the fear of ruining their precious records. It would be great to do some challenge matches again. It's awful tough now because for the fear of losing.

As far as sharing your account, you are allowed to show the game to your family but be there while they check it out but not friends or anyone else. You are responsible for anything done while on your account. You are never allowed to give out your password to anyone else. That's very unwise behavior.

As far as varium gifting, that should be a perma-ban offense. Hired hands are an affront to every player and undermine fair sportsmanship.

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 20:57:42)

I like idea too but you can still dummying they would just press 1vs1 one same time so I hate to say idea wouldn't work unless found way were prevent that.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 21:28:15)

With challenge type missions, they could be match-up style missions.

The difference is, the player would go to a selected match-maker npc. We will say Oz, on his menu, it says "Do you wish me to select a match for you?, And if you select yes, there will a mode where the selection process will equalize levels and stats. It will be no more then +10% or -10% in regard to stats, and it will be within the level range of 5. Since this will be a selective mode, the only way to make it active, the player must have a challenge mission. These missions will take longer to set up, but it will definitely reduce the normal time many upper-tier full varium players take in just finding someone to accept.

This will also provide a bit of privacy, so the players selected in the mode will not know, they were in a challenge match, unless, the players tells them.

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 21:36:59)

sounds too long in terms in time but just fact way your plan is JZaanu.

frosty123 -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/15/2012 23:03:18)

What a insane Idea (insane as in epic)
I totally agree. tell the devs to keep track of yjr items and stuff. If they make a mistake then pow its right there. Or simply give them 50000 cred

nico0las -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 20:25:33)

Also supporting challenges not counting towards your record.
Basically, I want to say the exact same thing as Sparticus, but I'm running a bit short on time :/

Anyways, it would be nice to just battle for fun.

Jzaanu's idea is also very good. It could provide a challenge and enjoyment to everyone.

Wiseman -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 20:48:53)

Actually we plan to simply eliminate dummying by making challenge battles off the record, this idea came up a while back and resurfaced last week. Hudelf has already built the feature and we hope to get it in as soon as this week. PvP challenge battles will basically work like the war NPCs, they will not count toward 1v1 record or faction record, and will not give any rewards, however they will still count toward mission completion. This should effectively eliminate dummying, and provide players with a unique mode that can be utilized for practice and/or testing builds or simply a way to fight without worry of the battles effecting their battle records.

I know that some players probably enjoy challenge battles, however the pros far outweigh the cons in this change therefor it was decided that the change was necessary. Most players that do challenge battles don't worry bout records anyway, they do them for fun, or for things such as videos or build testing, so having them not count toward records shouldn't hurt the overall meaning behind the battles, in fact it should add to the overall fun factor. The only ones that will truly hate the change is dummiers, because afterward they will actually need work for their wins.

It's good to see so many players already supporting the idea, we've been bouncing it around for awhile now.

Sageofpeace -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 21:23:42)

Wiseman

that be awesome. hope NPC battles stop counting towards record also if is possible

Wiseman -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 21:34:43)

^Nope NPC battles still require work, and are considered to be fair, so no changes will be made to that aspect. Though NPCs are getting slower as level cap raises and that's not likely to change in the future.

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 22:46:57)

Wiseman they can still dummy by pressing 1vs1 at same time so how does stop from dummying do I need prove point by doing it.
quote:

Well if you feel like NPC shouldn't count try be non varium mage getting wins. Beside NPC wins are getting harder like were talking about level 30 and 31 NPC that take as long as match.

Wiseman -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 22:51:19)

It's not that simple Mir, for starters Hudelf's new matching system always tries to match players at or close to their own level. Secondly there's a high chance that someone else will fight the dummy and report, then we can track the battle records of that dummy to see who has been fighting it regularly. The empty servers stay locked most of the time, so they can't just hide out there and fight themselves like they used to. In short this change will practically end dummying and anyone that does try to dummy will find it to be far more trouble than it's worth.

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 22:54:25)

Why not friends or faction members giving free wins its easy just fight level 34 in your HQ.

Wiseman -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 22:55:17)

Those battles wont give any wins either Mir, NO challenge battles will give wins, not even fighting faction members or friends.

Remorse -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 23:08:42)

I think it would be a great change.

Excpet for one thing.

No battle rewards??

I could understand no experince but surely getting credits and perhaps tockens would be ok?

Yes people could still dummy for credits in tockens but I doubt its worth the risk were as players who actuly like to have chalenges wont be completely left out.

The Joker X -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 23:11:11)

Will there still be a cap on how many times we fight the person a day? I hope not because I would like to be able to fight a person more than 10 times a day.

Wiseman -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 23:11:28)

@Remorse: Seeing as we are thinking bout making challenge battles infinite with this change, I think giving players the ability to dummy for credits/exp/tokens (especially tokens) would be a bad idea, just saying. If you want easy credits/exp/tokens just fight NPCs, that's faster than normal challenge battles anyway. We want challenging to become a sort of practice mode for players to learn the game, as well as a way to complete certain missions. Think of challenges as a mission based practice mode after the change and there won't be any issues.

@The Joker X: Seems I just answered your question, but no I don't believe there will be a challenge cap after the change. I could be wrong about that however, but the original idea had it where challenges wouldn't count toward records and you would be allowed to challenge a player infinity.

xxmirxx -> RE: Creating a Fair environment for Competition (1/16/2012 23:38:56)

I mean wiseman they click 1vs1 button at same time.
