Ha ha, no love interest, not in that guy, anyway. And there will be another, short section up tonight.

EDIT:...or maybe not. Maybe I'll just take a lot longer than I thought I would on more French. Regardless, tomorrow, for sure. Maybe.

Kinzdor -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/3/2012 18:29:20)

Tortuga? I though you said this would not reference the pirates of the Caribbean?

Goldstein -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/3/2012 18:40:40)

Tortuga was an actual pirate threshold in the 17th century Haiti. The coincidence is purely coincidental.

Drakkoniss -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/3/2012 22:31:53)

Perhaps a little redundant on the statement, but true. I actually hadn't remembered/realized PotC referenced Tortuga, but rather thought of the actual stronghold of piracy when I read that. XD

... Is that captain named after Vasco de Gama? O-e

But anyway, I'll scroll up further, so I can start at the begining of the new text.

Dangit.. I took too long. :/

I forgot I was commenting on this story, and now I have to continue both Clown's AND yours tomorow...

Jessa K -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/4/2012 12:25:15)

Very nice, although I actually found myself liking de Gama, XD.

Funny, too. Nice. Don't forget to put in those little feminine details, just little things to remind us she's a girl.

And we STILL don't know what she looks like!

Drakkoniss -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/6/2012 22:46:47)

Yes, I'd say such things DO shoot bullets out. XP

Gotta love the talking machinery of security-based DOOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, German accents... I like that Gattling Gun's persona. :P

I liked him, too. Charismatic. A bit boastful, but with quite the potential, it would seem.

quote:

“And, since I know he won’t say it,this is Mr. Roy Craine, our saboteur, subterfuge, and reconnaissance agent, all wrapped into one sad, broken package.”

You forgot a little something.

Hmm... Good at following orders...

Muahahahah... Yes, I did not burst that out with exclaimation points. That is what I call a chuckle under my breath. It was in reference to his comment about experience being a good teacher, but taking forever to work.

I like that the charisma falls flat on her. Makes it all the funnier.

WOO!!! DRUNKEN FORGETFULNESS!!!!!!!!!!! XP

Small place, that Tortuga.

"First impressions are usually better when made under the influence of a good drink," first made me think he was encouraging her to get drunk. XD

Hmm... 2 more gramatical mistakes so far, but not too bad... Though one appears to be a result of you changing your mind about making a direct quote at the last second, and making an indirect one.

I like the way you describe that bar. lol

That WAS an awkward moment. Hehe... You are quite good at adding comedy in there alot. I enjoy that. :)

To tell a secret, this chapter was written while I was nearly falling to sleep with the laptop still on my lap. I just can't keep up! My work is slipping in quality! I haven't worked on my novel in THREE WEEKS! So no pirates this week. Sorry. Try reading Medical License! I hear it's pretty creeeepy!

Drakkoniss -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/7/2012 11:41:10)

I HAVE been reading it. Check out meh comment, mate.

Kinzdor -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/13/2012 23:42:13)

COFFE! Sorry it`s late here, and that sounds so good. Hmm wonder if Commander Bills blacklisted here to ensue that she joined the crew. I just don`t think that someone with those kind can`t find at least a mineum wage job somewhere! Also what would pass as minuin wage in the time this story takes place?

Goldstein -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/14/2012 0:12:46)

Minimum wage would be $24.00 an hour.

Inflation sure is a pain in the butt, huh?

Jessa K -> RE: Of Satellites and Flintlocks (Discussion) (2/14/2012 0:39:04)

You somehow always manage to come out with a new chapter right when I'm sitting in bed wondering what to read, lol.

Overall, nice chapter. You did a good job of portraying her female-ness (yes, iPod, I do want to spell it that way) this time. And we FINALLY know what she looks like! Yay! Although I didn't catch her eye color, which is the most important. You make it clear that it's not an easy job for a girl, good.
