As this is a question more than a Discussion topic, it's best to post it in the ED Q&A , as that's where all ED related game questions belong :) Also as it's against the ED GD rules to post questions in this section :S
To answer your question though. No the war won't carry on as it was stated in the EpicDuel Design notes, that the war was going to finish on January 27th 2012 and it's already the 29th. And already the Legion alignment has already won the Fryestland war (which is also stated in the ED DSN's), so for now there currently isn't any war on at the moment.
To answer your second question, unfortunately we don't know what will be released in the future of ED since we're just ordinary members/ players. Only the developers decide and would know whether they'll release more drop weapons, armours and items. But I do suspect that there is a very high chance that there will be more item drops in the future releases of ED ;)
