ultrafried -> PvP Features (2/15/2012 14:38:05)

One thing that has confused me for a long time is why this game doesn't have some of the more standard pvp features? Most PvP based games I've played have had some kind of ladder system, have tournaments and have guild/faction/clan wars. The Devs seem to only want to focus on PvE oriented things like a drop system, story line and of course constantly releasing new and better gear. To me the focus of a PvP game should be the feature above, well that and balance. Balance discussion aside does anybody else feel that this game lacks key PvP features and that the devs seem to have no intention of including them? Does anybody even care if any of these features ever come to epic duel? Are these features even in some idea box to be possibly implemented when current work is finished?

We've actually put it on our radar that there are a few too many features that don't directly tie back into PvP. For example, one thing I think we could have done a little better with the Frysteland event was have more direct PvP involved in the system.

Additionally, the drop system only exists on top of PvP battles, and is planned to provide gear (other stuff a possibility somewhere down the line, not sure yet), which directly influences PvP and progression.

100% agreed, they keep doing more NPC features. This game is PvP, they should improve it more.

PvP drops is nice starting but there is still a useless faction wars, If faction war improve well, this game will be alot more fun cause after you become max lvl there is not much you can do other than grindding wins which is boring after a time.

The ED team is too small, you must give them all your money to make a better game(like the dudes that spent $1,000 in Frost War).

Remorse -> RE: PvP Features (2/16/2012 2:42:38)

I support 100%

Im not sure if its just me thats has noticed this but the reason why I constantly stress about making balance a priority is because, Yes the new side featues (missions,Wepons,Wars,Drops) Are all good and enteratining but never has that entertainment lasted more then a few days if you think about it.

To provide lasting enjoyment they have to turn the focus to what everyone goes to once they are tierd of the new features or they have complted them and that is PVP!

Constant new wepon rleeases are great Im not complaining, But personally I am usally exctied up untill the point were I log on and realise I shouldnt get them, or if I get them about a day after I lose almost all interest.

Were as balance feature are jsut soo much more excting to me and I think PVP features would be the same, Often there would be a small line between balance feature and PVP features and if the Devs play the cards well they could hopefully pull off releasing new features AND balancing at the same time.

Remorse Less.

ultrafried -> RE: PvP Features (2/16/2012 12:11:39)

First off it's nice to see a few people are in agreement with me. I agree with Turkish at times this game really feels like a grind and fails to hold my interest because of it. It's also good to see that the ED team realizes the game could do with more thing tyings into PvP. I actually think the drop system is a great idea and I admit it does tie nicely into PvP. I suppose then what I'm trying to say is that the devs seem to be prioritizing *fluff*, by that I mean things that come and go, don't tie into PvP or get outdated quickly, and should be focusing on the more fundamental and permanent parts of PvP. Obviously a balanced game is key but when u think about it there really isn't much to be in between updates except hit that 1v1, 2v2, or 2v1 button over and over.

A ranked ladder system would give us something more meaningful to strive for especially if say you reset it monthly gave out achievements and/or randomly gave out prizes to random people in the top X%.

A tournament system would pretty much do the same as the ladder system but on a smaller scale though you could host bigger weekly/monthly tournaments and maybe even a yearly one.

A good Faction vs Faction system would allow the top factions to compete to see who's the best at this game not just who plays the most or who spends the most money. To make it more interesting you could allow them to stake battle tokens or something that gets placed on one of the flags.

I realize that it's a small team and these things will neither be easy nor quick to implement but I also agree with Remorse the most exciting updates for me are balance ones and PvP features would be equal to those. When I see updates like were working hard on our newest story arc I just tend to say to myself "so what" and when new gear is cool to see come out but It's either not right for my build, not worth spending 10$ on or I buy it and the excitement quickly fades.

On a side note please post here with your opinions on this matter whatever they may be even if it's "this thread is dumb, the devs are doing a perfect job".

Gepard Acht -> RE: PvP Features (2/16/2012 12:23:14)

Yes we need more stuff to do, missions are only a one-time thing and they usually revolve on doing the same thing

and after you reach cap, there wont be much to do imo

Oba -> RE: PvP Features (2/16/2012 12:26:51)

This game indeed have to make better/funnier PvP features. The PvP drops is actually really good, if you ask me. It will make me battle more atleast, which I not have done for quite a while... These battles is getting boring, I just cant understand how comicalbiker (etc.) can have done about 200,000 battles! Im so bored of this same thing over and over after like "only" 17,000 battles! I really think it need something new.

Better faction wars would make alot of fun, but I dont really know how those should work.. Due this Frysteland war, well that war wasnt funny at all, really.

Tournaments! Now we're talking! I have been waiting for a feature such as this one for years, literally!
