Stabilis -> Rusted Drops Discussion (2/18/2012 19:03:56)

I had an Epiphany again. Yes, an Epiphany is an elephant.

I think discussing the future of rusted gear would be fun. Where do you think staff will go with new drops?

I think, that rusted gear will eventually be able to be repaired for full-fledged statistics. Imagine having a mission that allows you to repair a rusted cleaver or assault bot into the finished version, like an assault bot. <- 'This could be edited so that the bot will have no varium sell-back if required'

What do you think will happen to rusted gear? Can I expect someone to say, "rusted gear will wear down and disintegrate over time lol"?

ur going to fail -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/18/2012 19:15:44)

They might just make a timeline for ALL gear to rust eventually, and have to repair with credits. So, this way you could repair almost everything, but in RL; repairing or restoring could actually end up cost more than what the item is actually worth. This will turn into a suggestion thread pretty soon..

But of course this would actually force inactive players to try, which would enrage a lot of people.. Might as well forget it.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/18/2012 19:32:21)

This should definitely go into the suggestion section. It could fall into the "Limited Use 30 days till repair"

And when the time has elapsed, the rusted item must be taken into the shop for restoration for another "Limited Use"

Very interesting concept.

Stabilis -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/18/2012 19:52:36)

To put it blandly, yes I gave my own suggestion.

However, I would like to get your opinions as well, to be a discussion.

Seems like a similar concept of the corrupted dragon weapons in runescape.

Stabilis -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/18/2012 21:44:04)

^ Is it ironic that I know what you're talking about?

Cruel RNG gave me Rusty Assault after I bought it -.-

darky14 -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/19/2012 13:10:32)

drinde, tell the Cruel RNG to give me a Rusty too. I had about 80 wins in the past 2 days, and all I got was a rusty gun ._. I want some profit ;_;

Master Volcon -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/19/2012 13:19:51)

Perhaps you could pay varium/credits to "Clean" it and make it last longer?

Wootz -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/19/2012 13:34:30)

I'll just be waiting for broken equipment :)
Maybe it'll do something with Ulysses.

Remorse -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 6:47:30)

Personally I think we should be aloud to TRADE,
Rusted gear and rusted gear only.

WHY?
Lower levels will get a benefit of more opportunities for finding bargins for cheaper then store wepons.

And the high levels might actuly get a decent sell back on the items which would otherwise add minimal advantages to anyone highin level or maxed in gear.
And because its RUSTED gear not normal gear it wont have big or any impacts on instore wepons.

Considering you cant obtain varium in any way or form with this, there is NO chance for varium excahange so it would be a harmless tarding feature which would hopefully have little to no scamming problems.
What do you guys think??

Wootz -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 6:52:33)

I agree Remorse!

Sipping Cider -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 9:35:31)

I also like Remorse's idea. Trading would be awesome, but I think it should be able to happen with all gear, not just rusted gear.

Rusted gear should definately be fixable, although not through missions because then you could only fix a certain amount of gear. As for items rusting over time, I would have said no a month ago. However, now that battle rewards are fixed, there are so many missions, and there are PvP drops credit issues are a thing of the past and being able to keep your gear fixed should not be a problem, assuming it can be fixed at a resonable price. Maybe ten times the level of a weapon so fixing a level 34 weapon would cost 340 credits and fixing a level 1 weapon would cost 10 credits. And just to add on to the wear a d tear of time, maybe rusted items could break and not be fixable.

Stabilis -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 10:08:07)

To avoid cheating, though, items would to be traded at a reasonable cost... not for free.

Remorse -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 10:17:31)

^ It doesnt even need a fee.

Its rusted items, high level players should be able to give them away if they want to!

Its not cheating because its not Good gear.... even if you gave ur level 1 charcter full rusted gear for what that charcter can wear then all it will do is give him a fighting chance at the level 5s. apart from level 1 its not like you will be getting an equipment advnatge well at least not a big one if rusted items are open to the lower levels aswel.

So there wont even be any harm in people giving away rusted stuff.

And I say just rusted items only for trading because I have faught for normal trading before and I know its a Hopeless cuase BUT THIS might stand a chance of being implmented.

If ever some sort of trading was gonan be implemented this is IT!

WHY? has basically no negative effects at all.
Everyone wins, high levels gte more credits lower levels get cheaper wepons thus encouraging them to continue playing.

Plus it will give the opportuinty for genrous favors, players might start treating each other nicely if everyone is able to give things to each other even if its only rusted things.
Finally firends or faction members will be able to give to those who are more in need. xD sounds like a charity speech but hey I like getting my ideas expresed well :P
Remorse.

Gepard Acht -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 10:22:08)

i like trading, but not just for rusted , i need those old weps from my un-used alts

Remorse -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 10:25:55)

^Like I said normal trading is a fight already lost.

This could stand a chance but only if enough people notice it as a considerable idea. (Including the big guys xD)

Stabilis -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 10:44:26)

As ED is a pvp game, it asks that players battle but have fun to the best of their ability.

When you introduce not just trade, but FREE trade, you allow equipment out of reach to flow between 2 players without effort. I am going to name a comparison and an effect.

Comparison: I was a player of runescape when I was 10. Back then, we had the original free trade. A max levelled player (lv 126) could trade just about anything to a noob (lv 3). If this noob battles another noob who has not traded, I can assure you that the normal player (no freebies) has no chance. The trading noob could own the best gear for his level, for warriors it would be full steel/bone armour and extremely OP accessories that give you the stats of someone 10 levels higher.

Effect: If a player charitably gives a weaker player his rusted drops, is he handicapped? I would say so. There is a caste system here in allowing some players the chance to unleash their potentials, while other honest playing players have weaker equipment regardless of how enthusiastic about they are playing ED.

Remorse -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 11:11:17)

^ Yes ,

But you need to consider that it is NO major bonus with rusted wepons.

I went on my lvl 10 alt not long ago and MOST lower levels had rusted gear but it made VERY little diffrence.

If anything the rusted gear was a disadvanatge blocking room for a better wepons which would actuly be useful stats and damage wise etc.

If you consider rusted wepons as being temprary replcements for wepons soon to come.
You will realise they are not a bonus at all.

PLUS just to add, you can only get the lower level rusted wepons if you play as a lower levels so its not like you can get heaps of lower level rusted gear on you main then give it to your alts...

AND, I have noticed that ED has fast become a game where players are now quick to have a full wepon set (minus armour and a bot.) So Agian I will add having a large supply of rusted wepons as a handicap will make VERY VERY LITTLE Diffrence if not nothing.

Stabilis -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 11:13:20)

And just hope that rusted gear STAYS at it's current power level, you know, under 9000!

Remorse -> RE: Rusted Drops Discussion (2/20/2012 11:18:51)

^It should by logic get worse.

It is a new feature and people havnt fully had time to get the rusted equipment, Persoanlyl I dont think it will be long untill every player that knows how to equip past level 10 will have full set of gear even if they use rusted wepons to fill the gaps.

At that time it would be obvious that a free tardng feature will make little diffrence.
