Oops, forgot: Discussion Thread.

BOTs

The Battlefield Operating Tactics were a new development in the ongoing war between the Legion and the Exiles. This tactic utilizes the use of various machines or creatures, which are also known as Assists, to aid the fighters on the field. A small communicator chip is attached to the wrist of a duelist, and can be used to summon these Assists. The first Assist to be developed is the Assault Bot by the merchant Mirv, whose resides in the Barrens. Since the first Assist, both the Legion and Exile have raced to create more powerful and devastating Assists to end the war for Delta V.

Assists

Currently, eight Assists are used in the battlefield.

They are the Assault Bot, the Gamma Bot, the baby Yeti, Azrael’s Borg, the BioBorg, the Rusted Assault Bot, the Pyro Fly and the Infernal Android.

Matrix Core

Most of the technological Assists require a deposit of Varium to provide them with the energy needed to activate. Once the Varium is attached to the Assist's Matrix Core, it will charge the Assist for the rest of its existence. The Varium, once deposited, cannot be removed as it would cause a power surge, resulting in a deadly explosion within the radius of half a mile. An exception to this rule is the Rusted Assault Bot, which draws energy from Delta V's sun.

Focus

The BOT style of battle is based on the willpower, determination and mental strength of the fighter. This is due to the fact that the user of a BOT must be focused on both his opponent and controlling the Assist. A BOT is very effective as it can be used to surprise one's enemy with an unexpected attack. This is due to the fact that the fighter utilizing this tactic does not make any detectable moves and only communicates with the Assist through his mind.

Design

The Assists were meant to attack swiftly and unexpectedly, allowing the element of surprise to overcome the opponent. This has lead to the Assists used in BOT attacks to be relatively small, as to prevent detection. Each Assist possesses the ability to strike an opponent in the midst of a battle, and another, more unique, skill.

Assist: Assault Bot

As stated in the previous document, the Assault Bot was an Assist developed in the Barrens. This piece of technology was originally meant to help Mirv break apart pieces of junk found in the Barrens to sell to gullible fighters before he realized it's potential for battle and brought it to the market. When inactive, the Assist locks it's arms and sensor to its chassis, resembling a levitating metal sphere. Once summoned, it unsheathes them to attack.

This robotic Assist has two pincer-like claws, meant to either crush or lift large items. Energy from the Matrix Core within allows controlled bursts of electricity to arc through its claws, making it a deadly weapon. Its single motion sensor located on the top of its head seeks out targeted objects, before it seizes and breaks them apart.

The Assault Bot possesses the ability to disperse millions of Nanobots to aid its owner in battle. When the Nanobots detect smoke, they form an invisible screen in front of the eyes, nose and mouth, allowing the user to see and strike clearly. The Nanobots can also link together to form a barrier of temporary defense while other Nanobots repair malfunctioning equipment in a piece of a battle suit. In dire situations, the Nanobots will meld together and form a sort of exoskeleton for its user, either giving strength to their attacks or providing support and balance on an unstable field.

Assist: Gamma Bot

This formidable Assist was developed near the radiated waters of the West Naval Yard. Its maker, the Gamma Guard, had been researching the potential of nuclear energy and has discovered a method to charge the Varium affixed with the Matrix Core of an technological Assist with the powerful radiation. The Gamma Bot uses magnetism to keep its arms in place, whether folded tight against the chassis or preparing to strike. This allows the Gamma Bot to possess flexibility and dexterity. So far, the Gamma Bot is the only Assist able to deal both physical and energy damage.

The Gamma Bot has two cylindrical arms that are attached to powerful pistons, allowing each punch to deal grievous harm to the opponent. Its sensory unit appears sleek and resembles that of a reptile. There are exhaust chambers located at the top of the chassis, allowing excess radiation to dissipate from the Core. Cords outside the chassis transfers energy to the various parts of the Gamma Bot, and its Core can be partially seen, glowing, at its lower torso. The symbol for Radiation Hazard is stamped on this Assist, to warn bystanders away from getting within radiation distance of the Matrix Core.

With a Matrix Core bound with nuclear energy, this Assist needs to pump the excess radiation out of its chassis to prevent overheating. This is usually done through the exhaust chambers stated above. However, the Gamma Bot can conserve a small amount of the nuclear energy and cause a power surge, resulting in the expulsion of of a beam of pure radiation.

Assist: Baby Yeti

In the frozen wastelands northeast of the main continent, the Yetis are the dominant species of wildlife. They live in tribes, and are semi-sentient creatures. Baby Yetis are usually abandoned after five months of nursing from their dams, and left to their own devices. The instincts of fully grown Yeti Hulks call for them to fight each other to gain leadership of their tribes. These conflicts usually end when a Yeti lowers his head in submission. However, their battle for dominance can still wreck havoc in the frozen landscape, which is why the Krampus people choose to take care of the young Yetis.

The recent conflict for Frysteland had a great impact on the survival of these creatures. Their population has dwindled ever since the Artic Guard were dispatched to guard the Krampus, and now, they are being hunted down by both the Exiles and the Legion. The Krampus had managed to convince the Exiles that the Yetis were not a threat to them, however, the damage done was irreversable. Krampus Traders now send the baby Yetis up for adoption in return of a hefty amount of Varium, which are then used for purchase of raw material used for the restoration of their villages from the aftermath of war.

The baby Yeti looks resembles nothing as much as a Hazard hatchling, except for the fact that it is covered with downy, soft fur to keep warmth in the bitter cold. A large blue orb serves as the Yeti's main eye, with four smaller orbs flanking it, with the ability to detect heat signatures. Shards of bone stud the Yeti's body, allowing it to camoflauge itself as a snow covered rock to ambush its favorite prey, snow rabbits.

With large blue eyes and a stubby stature, the baby Yeti's appearance belies its voracious appetite. When properly trained, they can be summoned to chomp on one's enemy's weaponry. As the baby Yetis possess incredibly powerful jaws, they can do this without any problems. In fact, chewing on the weapons seem to soothe their teething pains.

Assist: Azrael's Borg

The origin of Azrael's Borg is a mystery, though many believe its creator was none other than the Baelius's Dark Angel, Descarl. The design of this fearsome Assist is based on personification of Death in Delta V, Azrael. This is not the first time the Death Wasp has been featured in weaponry. Indeed, there are rumors that the insignia of Azrael bends weapons to the Wasp's will, reaping more and more souls to add to their master's collection. A notable example is Azrael's Bane, an unholy sword crafted by a man whose sanity left him not long after he finished crafting it.

Azrael's Borg, with its distinctive coloring of maroon, bronze and ebony bears a sinister resemblance to its inspiration. This Assist has a sleek head that arcs back, ending with two shards of onyx jutting outwards, giving it an appearance of horns. A heart is embedded where its Matrix Core should be located, throbbing, throbbing, throbbing. Presumably, Alydriah has infused the heart with the radioactive energy drained from Varium crystals. Its two arms end in cruel, barbed daggers shaped as hearts. A dirge-like blade forms the tail of the Assist, allowing it to perform its most devastating move.

Stabbing its stinger into the flesh of its victims, the Azrael Borg can inject a toxin that leaves the target drained of both strength and stamina. The poison drives away all rationality from the victim's mind, shattering their defensive barriers and leaves them reeling in the dirt. The last thing they will ever see, the descending arc of their opponent's blade.

Assist: BioBorg

The BioBorg was first found available for purchase in the inventory of the scientist Xraal in the BioDome. Thus, it was believed to have been developed by the alien. So far, there has been no evidence towards the contrary. However, the fact that this Assist came into being not long before the invasion of Delta V by several rodent-like lifeforms cannot be ignored.

Being one of the rare biological Assists, the BioBorg is taken for a single creature at first glance. However, at closer inspection, one will realize that it is not one, but rather a melding of different creatures around a plant-based form. The BioBorg's base is covered by a hard, spiked exoskeleton that guards it against the wildlife in the BioDome. It possesses three sharp pairs of mandibles, proving that this creature feeds on prey instead of photosynthesizing. In addition to the single eye atop its head, the two gigantic claws are covered by a living muscle with sensory orbs irregularly grown around it. This allows the BioBorg to hunt with ease, slamming its claws into its prey to bring them down. Although the BioBorg remains stationary for long periods of time, it is able to withdraw its roots to move, albeit quite slowly.

When the BioBorg comes into contact with raw, unprocessed Varium, it gains a strange ability to shape the plant-life of Delta V. It can manipulate the growth of these plants with regular injections of the radioactive mineral that it had processed. Scientists have tried to recreate this ability but to no avail. Meanwhile, soldiers readily make use of this ability to shape barriers in the form of thorns to deter their opponents from attacking them directly.
