I made a thread about this a long time a ago, so, I thought I'd take it up a notch and add art to music too i.e uhm..never mind. Just the question;

Do you have any certain genre of music that inspires you to make music/art?

and/or

Certain type of art that inspires you to make music/art?

For me, it HAS to be power metal ballads and Anathema for my electronic music. I get the inspiration from looking at landscape paintings, and for some reason, character concepts. No glares, plz.
But I never have the drive to really start working on something, so when I listen to the immense energy in those types of music, something just goes click in my brain.

What inspires YOU?

Well, for me, I'd say any kind of alternative rock genre song.

However, keeping my style in mind, I will go with Japanese Pop and Rock.

I have a more japanese style of art, so yeah.

For me, I go to a playlists of musics (usually ost for animes, movies, and games) on youtube when I'm trying to come up with ideas. (then sometimes switch to some alternative rock during the making process) As for art that inspires me, I just go on Deviantart, or some other picture sharing website and browse through it. And if I see some technique/ style/ theme that interests me, I try my own take on it.

For music, it generally has to be something fast-paced, and it doesn't even necessarily need to be good.

For example, I often listen to rappers with rather terrible vocals because it's just about getting the hype I need to draw.
Alternatively, I do go for a bit more serious take which I when I listen to either Kid acudi or Queen.

I have a few artist that take up most of my music library it usually starts with one of them. Then from there I let the music take me but I have noticed that I tend to start skipping to certain songs/types when I'm doing certain tasks. For example when it's time to refine something or detail it (when u have to be precise) I find myself playing Aeris's theme from FF7 a lot it soothes me enough to be patient and precise but b/c of the emotions tied to the game (the anger of being ready to hunt sephiroth to the ends of the earth lol) I'm aggressive and decisive enough to lay things down without it taking a million years I find balance.

As for art I love Surrealism of often look at Dali's work or the work of the major art collectives out there Depthcore, SlashThree, IN and such.

Oh right Art. Well for art I have two main inspirations. One is Genndy Tartakovsky, the man behind Samurai Jack. I love his incredably stylized way of art and how the Jack stories were always very...artistic. You could figure out the story even though there were few words.

Next would be Hirohiko Araki, who created the Manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I absolutely adore his style and how different it is from standard Manga as well as his use of many, maaaaany colors. The story is also very unique and well-written.
